Best Coffee Shops in Spring Branch, Houston: 8 Cafes and Work Spots

Date Published

Illustrated to-go cup, croissant and dinosaur silhouette for coffee shops Spring Branch Houston guide

The best coffee shops in Spring Branch, Houston are Cambrian Coffee on Hammerly Boulevard, Bean Theory Cafe and Slowpokes on Long Point Road, and Buzz & Bites on Blalock Road. For laptop work, Bean Theory advertises free Wi-Fi and Lil’ Koffeteria on Brittmoore Road says it has plenty of outlets. Spring Branch has no coffee street. Its good cups sit in strip centers along Long Point, Hammerly, Blalock and Gessner, so it helps to know where to look.

Here’s the hook: in one Spring Branch morning you can eat a Welsh sausage roll, a Korean soft-scrambled egg sandwich and a pastry from a James Beard-nominated bakery, without getting on a freeway.

How we define Spring Branch: the four City of Houston super neighborhoods that carry the name. Spring Branch West, North, Central and East run north from the Katy Freeway (I-10) to roughly Clay Road, Hempstead Highway and US 290, and west to Addicks Reservoir. That includes the small cities of Spring Valley Village and Hilshire Village. It doesn’t include the Memorial Villages, Memorial City or CityCentre south of I-10, which have their own Memorial coffee guide. Our Spring Branch area page has the bigger picture.

How we chose

We picked cafes inside our Spring Branch boundaries where coffee is the point, and leaned toward independent and Houston-born shops. We included one Korean coffeehouse brand because its Gessner store also serves the brand’s Egg Box soft-scrambled egg sandwiches. We left out national drive-through chains. Every pick had to show its Spring Branch location as open on its own official website or official social page in November 2026. We describe Wi-Fi and outlets only where a cafe says so itself.

Hours change, so read every time below as “typically” and check the official site before you go.

The company says it looks for underserved neighborhoods and spaces slightly off the beaten path, and it invites guests to meet friends or get some work done.

Hammerly and Blalock

Cambrian Coffee

Spring Shadows, 9461 Hammerly Blvd, Houston, TX 77080 · typically 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday

Cambrian Coffee is the most delightful backstory in Spring Branch coffee. It’s run by a husband-and-wife team who live in the neighborhood. She is a Welsh-heritage geologist, which explains the name: the Cambrian Period of geologic time was named after Cambria, the Roman name for Wales. That also explains the dinosaur mural on the building. The bakery case is British. Look for sausage rolls with a rotating weekly flavor, cheese and chive scones, and house-made shortbread on Fridays and Saturdays.

Order: the Cambrian Latte, the house signature, sweetened with homemade honey-cinnamon syrup, plus a sausage roll. The Spring Branch Management District reported that the sausage rolls regularly sell out, so come early.

Why go: a real neighborhood specialty coffee shop. Its espresso is a house blend and its nitro cold brew rotates guest roasters. See Cambrian’s menu.

Buzz & Bites

Spring Branch, 1444 Blalock Rd, Houston, TX 77055 · typically 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

Buzz & Bites is run by two sisters who came to the United States from Cambodia. According to the Spring Branch Management District, they opened in August 2020 after deciding not to give up when the pandemic hit just before launch. The drink menu is playful: a honey Buzz Latte, Ube and Pandan “Cloud” drinks, a Tex Pecan latte and Vietnamese coffee. Brunch is served all day.

Insider tip: on Saturdays and Sundays the cafe advertises a separate Waffle Waffle weekend menu.

Order: an iced Ube Cloud (condensed milk, ube syrup and espresso) and something from the all-day brunch menu.

Why go: coffee and a real meal at one table. See the Buzz & Bites drink menu.

Tom N Toms Coffee was founded in 1999 and started as a single coffeehouse in Seoul. The company’s Gessner page says its Egg Box menu of soft-scrambled egg sandwiches is available at this location, alongside the brand’s signature pretzels and mochi donuts. CultureMap reported that it was the brand’s first corporate-owned store in the United States and that it has a drive-through.

Order: an iced latte and the classic Egg Box sandwich.

Why go: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. hours and a Korean cafe menu you won’t find at a typical coffee shop. See the Gessner location page.

Lil’ Koffeteria is the Spring Branch outpost of Koffeteria, the EaDo bakery from pastry chef Vanarin Kuch, who grew up around his family’s doughnut and seafood shops in the old Vietnam Town area east of downtown. The bakery says it received a 2024 James Beard nomination for Outstanding Bakery. The menu changes often. The shop posts it to its online store in the evening, around 5 p.m., for the next day.

Work-friendly: Koffeteria’s FAQ says the Brittmoore shop is the one better suited to working, with many outlets available. It is cashless and has parking.

Order: whatever seasonal tart or pastry is on the next day’s menu, plus a coffee.
