- Best Patio Restaurants and Bars in Spring Branch, Houston
The best patio restaurants and bars in Spring Branch, Houston are Lazy Oaks Beer Garden and Feges BBQ on Long Point Road, Karbach Brewing's biergarten on the neighborhood's east edge, and Ragin' Cajun's 100-guest patio on Wirt Road. If you're bringing a dog, Barnaby's Cafe on Long Point Road has a dog-compliant patio and its own puppy menu. All eight picks below were confirmed open on their official websites in November 2026.
Spring Branch's outdoor scene is less rooftop, more picnic table: shade sails, string lights, yard games and a biergarten big screen, which is exactly what you want on a mild spring or fall Saturday.
In Spring Branch, the dog gets a menu too.
Where is Spring Branch?
For this guide, Spring Branch is the part of west Houston north of the Katy Freeway (I-10) and south of US 290 and Hempstead Road, from Beltway 8 east to roughly Loop 610. That includes the small cities of Spring Valley Village and Hilshire Village, and it matches the boundary we use in our other Spring Branch guides. It leaves out Memorial City and CityCentre, which sit on the south side of I-10.
Long Point Road is the spine. Five of the eight patios below have a Long Point address, and three of them sit on the same block between 8147 and 8217 Long Point.
The quick list
- For a beer garden afternoon: Lazy Oaks Beer Garden, with 22 drinks on tap.
- For a brewery patio with a giant screen: Karbach Brewing Co.'s biergarten.
- For a crawfish crowd: Ragin' Cajun on Wirt Road, with a patio that holds up to 100 guests.
- For brunch with the dog: Barnaby's Cafe, which posts its dog rules and a puppy menu.
- For barbecue outdoors: Feges BBQ and its spacious patio.
- For coffee under shade sails: Slowpokes on Long Point.
- For something to do besides sit: Long Point Social Club's outdoor games and dog park.
- For a dressy dinner with a garden: Bori, a Korean steakhouse with a terrace it calls the Peace Garden.
How we chose
Every pick sits inside the boundary above, has outdoor seating described or pictured on its own official website, and showed current hours there in November 2026. We call a patio dog-friendly only when the venue's own site says pets are welcome; where a site is silent, we say so. Hours change, and patios close in bad weather, so treat every schedule below as "typically" and check the official site before you go.
Long Point Road patios
Long Point Road holds most of Spring Branch's outdoor seating, from a beer garden near Beltway 8 to a cluster of three patios in the 8100 block.
Lazy Oaks Beer Garden
10158 Long Point Rd · beer garden and scratch kitchen · open daily
Lazy Oaks Beer Garden on the west end of Long Point Road has served scratch-made food, craft beer, wine and cocktails since 2019, according to its website. It lists 22 drinks on tap, and the site advertises outdoor seating and calls itself kid and pet friendly. It typically opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday and at 3 p.m. on Mondays, staying open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
What to order: the Long Point Spicy Paloma, made with tequila, lime and grapefruit juice, fresh jalapeños and grapefruit soda, or a Houston-brewed draft such as Karbach Love Street.
Best for: a long, easy afternoon with a mixed group. More outdoor drinking in our beer gardens and icehouses guide.
Long Point Social Club
7202 Long Point Rd · pickleball club, cafe and bar · open daily
Long Point Social Club on Long Point Road is a patio with a purpose: its website pictures outdoor games and an outdoor dog park alongside the pickleball courts. Courts typically run from 8 a.m. to midnight, the LP Cafe opens at 8 a.m., the LP Bar & Kitchen opens at 3 p.m., and weekend brunch typically runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is free.
What to do: book a court online, then settle in outside with a drink while the dog burns off energy.
Best for: groups who get restless sitting still.
Slowpokes
8147 B Long Point Rd · coffee, beer and wine · open daily
Slowpokes on Long Point Road is a coffee shop that turns into a wine-and-beer spot in the afternoon, and its official location photo shows the patio: picnic tables, planter boxes and canvas shade sails strung overhead. It typically opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends, with happy hour from 4 p.m. to close Monday through Friday.
What to order: a latte in the morning; at happy hour, the hummus plate or a pretzel with a local draft. The shop says it stocks treats from local partners including The Bakerie and Cosmic Ice Cream.
Best for: a shaded morning coffee. Compare it with the rest of our Spring Branch coffee shops.
Barnaby's Cafe
8155 Long Point · American comfort food · open daily, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Barnaby's Cafe in Spring Branch is the most dog-ready patio in the neighborhood. Its website says every Barnaby's location has an outdoor patio that welcomes pets, open weather permitting, and cites the Texas Health and Safety Code rules that let dogs dine on restaurant patios.
I didn't know that: Barnaby's publishes a puppy menu. Water bowls are free, and dogs can order ground beef, sliced chicken breast or scrambled eggs over brown rice, or a doggie ice cream. The house rules are just as specific: leash on, paws off the chairs and tables, and no sharing your plate, because the restaurant brings special bowls for dogs.
What to order (for you): Doctor Gale's Meatloaf or the Danish baby back ribs with cinnamon butter apples.
Best for: lunch with the dog. More pup-friendly tables citywide in our dog-friendly patios guide.
Feges BBQ, Spring Branch
8217 Long Point Rd · barbecue · closed Mondays
Feges BBQ on Long Point Road is a walk-in-only barbecue restaurant with what its website calls a spacious patio. Erin Smith and Patrick Feges opened the first brick-and-mortar Feges BBQ in March 2018, after years of catering and pop-ups, and the brand made Texas Monthly's 50 Best BBQ Joints list in 2021. It typically opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closing at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Insider tip: on the first Wednesday of each month, Feges runs Pizza on the Patio from 5 to 8 p.m., with pies from a Gozney pizza oven. Check the Feges calendar before you go.
What to order: hogfat cornbread, pimento mac and cheese and the churro banana pudding. More smoke in our best BBQ in Houston guide.
Off Long Point: Wirt Road, Witte Road and the east side
The other three patios are a short drive off Long Point, and they cover the extremes: a Cajun crawfish crowd, a quiet Korean garden and a full brewery campus.
Ragin' Cajun, Spring Branch
1725 Wirt Rd · Cajun seafood · open daily
Ragin' Cajun's Spring Branch restaurant on Wirt Road has a patio that holds up to 100 guests, with a full bar, according to its private-events page. It typically opens at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and at noon on Sunday.
I didn't know that: the Houston brand began in 1974 as Ray Hay's Cajun Po-Boys on Richmond Avenue, and its parking-lot crawfish boils started in 1976, five years before the name changed to Ragin' Cajun. Eating crawfish outdoors is the original format.
What to order: Louisiana crawfish in season or a po-boy, the sandwich the business was founded on.
Best for: a crawfish crowd or an office happy hour.
Bori
1453 Witte Rd · Korean steakhouse · lunch weekdays, dinner nightly
Bori on Witte Road is the dressiest outdoor setting in Spring Branch. Its about page describes a terrace on the other side of the restaurant called the Peace Garden, which promotes the unity of Korea and pays tribute to those who suffered during the wars. Lunch typically runs 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on weekdays, dinner from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and weekends run noon to 9:30 p.m.
What to order: the marinated boneless short rib or a dry-aged steak. Reserve through borirestaurant.com.
Best for: a date night or a family celebration.
Karbach Brewing Co.
2032 Karbach St · brewery biergarten, restaurant and patio · east Spring Branch
Karbach Brewing Co., founded in 2011, sits in the far east corner of Spring Branch near the Loop 610 and US 290 interchange. The brewery calls its biergarten Texas-sized, with two outdoor bars, yard games and a 14-foot by 8-foot big screen, and it invites guests to bring friends, family and four-legged sidekicks. The biergarten is typically closed Monday and Tuesday and opens at 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. on weekends; the restaurant and patio open Tuesday through Sunday.
What to order: the Everything Pretzel (a guest favorite on the menu) with a Love Street or Hopadillo IPA.
Best for: game days on the big screen.
Which Spring Branch patios are dog-friendly?
Three Spring Branch patios say on their own websites that dogs are welcome: Barnaby's Cafe, Karbach Brewing Co.'s biergarten and Lazy Oaks Beer Garden. Long Point Social Club has an outdoor dog park on site.
- Barnaby's Cafe: the clearest policy, with posted rules and a puppy menu. Dogs stay leashed and off the furniture.
- Karbach Brewing Co.: the biergarten welcomes four-legged sidekicks.
- Lazy Oaks Beer Garden: advertises itself as kid and pet friendly.
- Long Point Social Club: pictures an outdoor dog park on its site.
Feges BBQ, Slowpokes, Ragin' Cajun and Bori don't publish a dog policy, so call before you bring one.
How do you find shade on a Spring Branch patio?
Arrive early and ask for it. Most Spring Branch patios don't publish whether they're covered, so the practical move is to go before the midday sun, call ahead in summer, and save the long patio sessions for October through April.
- Shade you can count on: Slowpokes' official photo shows shade sails over the picnic tables.
- Summer rule of thumb: brunch and late dinners beat 3 p.m. on any Houston patio. Bring water for the dog, even where the restaurant provides a bowl.
Save this: the Long Point patio crawl
Three patios sit on the same block of Long Point Road, between 8147 and 8217, so you can park once and make an afternoon of it.
- Coffee at Slowpokes (8147 B Long Point Rd) under the shade sails.
- Lunch at Barnaby's Cafe (8155 Long Point) with the dog on the patio.
- Barbecue at Feges BBQ (8217 Long Point Rd), ideally on a first Wednesday for Pizza on the Patio.
- Nightcap at Lazy Oaks Beer Garden (10158 Long Point Rd), a short drive west. Use a rideshare or a designated driver.
Before you go checklist
- Check each patio's hours on its official site the day you go. Feges closes Mondays and Karbach's biergarten closes Monday and Tuesday.
- Bringing the dog? Stick to the four spots with a published welcome, and bring a leash and water.
- Patios close in rain and storms. Barnaby's says its patios open weather permitting.
- Feges is walk-in only; Bori takes reservations through its website.
- Want to play? Book a Long Point Social Club court ahead.
