- Best Coffee Shops in Katy, TX: Roasters, Work Spots and Drive-Throughs
In Katy you can drink a cortado roasted on site at a Cane Island corner, a cold brew that steeps for a full day before it reaches your cup, and a latte while your dog orders off its own menu. That's a better coffee scene than most people expect from a suburb best known for master-planned communities and Friday night football.
This is our shortlist of the best coffee shops in Katy, sorted by what you need from them: a serious cup, a table to work at, or a drive-through on the way to the Grand Parkway. Every shop here was checked as open on its own official website.
The quick list
- For coffee roasted where you drink it: Humble Grounds, Kona Roastery, Cowboy Coast Coffee and Serene Beans.
- For a long work session: Lava Coffee or Long Coffee.
- For a coffee date in Old Town Katy: Humble Grounds, then a walk.
- For bringing the dog: PUCCI Cafe at LaCenterra.
- For Italian espresso: Minuti Coffee.
- For the drive-through: Dutch Bros or Black Rock Coffee Bar.
- For the latest cup: PUCCI Cafe, open until 10pm.
How we chose
Where Katy starts and stops. For this list, Katy means the City of Katy, including Old Town, plus the communities around it that carry a Katy mailing address, such as Cinco Ranch and the Fry Road, Mason Road and Grand Parkway corridors. We left out Fulshear, Richmond, Cypress and Houston's Energy Corridor, even where a shop sits just over the line. That ruled out some well-loved names, like Humble Grounds' Fulshear store and Blockhouse Coffee, which now lists only its Richmond location.
What made the cut. We looked for one of three things: coffee roasted in house or with a clear point of view, a room you can actually work in, or a drive-through that's fast and open early. Every pick had to show a current Katy address on its own website in October 2026. We left out places we couldn't confirm that way, including shops that list a Katy store as "coming soon."
Hours change, so treat every time below as "typically" and check the shop's site before you go.
Independent roasters and serious coffee
Humble Grounds Coffeehouse
Old Town Katy, 1512 Avenue C · coffeehouse · open daily
Humble Grounds roasts its own beans in house, so the bag you take home was roasted by the same people pouring your latte. The food is half the reason locals come: its breakfast tacos were voted Best of Katy, according to the shop, and there are paninis at lunch. The shelves carry goods from local makers, too.
Order: a breakfast taco, a latte and a bag of house-roasted beans to go.
Good to know: the Katy shop typically opens at 7am on weekdays and Saturdays and at 10am on Sundays, and closes mid-afternoon, so this is a morning stop.
Serene Beans
Old Town Katy, 5609 3rd St · coffee shop and community space · open daily
Serene Beans roasts its beans every week and runs a busy calendar of live music, game nights and community meetups. It's the earliest independent on this list on weekdays, typically opening at 6am, and it stays open until 6pm, which makes it useful both before work and after school.
Order: a latte with one of the Ghirardelli sauces, or a frappe on a hot afternoon.
Why it's here: fresh-roasted coffee at neighborhood prices, and a reason to come back in the evening when there's an event.
Kona Roastery
Cinco Ranch, 25829 Cinco Ranch Blvd · Hawaiian-style cafe · open daily
Kona Roastery describes itself as a Hawaiian-based cafe, and it roasts its own beans in house twice a week. The drink to know about is the Kona Cold Brew Tower: it brews for more than 24 hours using the shop's Kona Reserve blend, and the cafe describes it as bold and strong in caffeine.
Order: the cold brew, plus breakfast from the kitchen, which typically closes at 2pm even though the coffee bar stays open until 6pm.
Why it's here: the most distinctive cup in Cinco Ranch, and early hours (typically 6am on weekdays).
Cowboy Coast Coffee Company
Cane Island, 777 Cane Island Pkwy · quick-service coffee shop
Cowboy Coast roasts every batch on site at its quick-service shop on Cane Island Parkway. The menu covers the classics, from drip and Americanos to cortados and mochas, and it's built for getting in and out quickly.
Order: a cortado, then ask what's freshly roasted.
Good to know: the shop's website doesn't publish hours in a form we could confirm, so check before a first visit.
Minuti Coffee
Two Katy shops: 505 S Fry Rd and 814 Katy Fort Bend Rd · Italian-style coffee bar
Minuti calls itself a 100% American company selling 100% Italian coffee. Its blends are created by a roastmaster in Italy, and its sister company is Molinari Caffè, which Minuti says makes it the only place in the US where you can drink Molinari coffee in its stores. Beyond espresso, the menu runs to paninis and pastries.
Order: a Shakerato, Minuti's shaken espresso drink, on any day above 85 degrees.
Why it's here: proper Italian espresso without driving into Houston.
Work-friendly cafes
Lava Coffee
Katy Asian Town, 23227 Mercantile Pkwy, Suite A6 · specialty coffee and workspace · open daily
Lava bills itself as a specialty coffee shop and workspace, with dedicated work areas, a lounge and board games for when you're done. It serves Amaya Coffee, which is roasted locally, alongside Vietnamese coffee, matcha and a long list of house lattes with names like Toffee Moon, Campfire and Green Hulk (matcha and espresso together).
Order: the Honey Lavender latte, then claim a table. When you get hungry, our Katy Asian Town restaurants guide covers lunch within a few minutes of here.
Good to know: it typically opens at 7am on weekdays and stays open until 7pm on Saturdays.
Long Coffee
Westgreen, 1321 N Westgreen Blvd, Suite 100 · Vietnamese coffee house · open daily until 9pm
Long Coffee says its mission since 1983 has been serving high-quality Vietnamese coffee in a place that feels like home. The Katy cafe has free wifi, outlets and a patio, and it's open until 9pm every night, which makes it the best evening study spot on this list. If you're working through lunch, there's pasta, popcorn chicken and pastries.
Order: a Vietnamese iced coffee, strong and sweet.
Why it's here: late hours, real food and plugs. That's the work-from-cafe trifecta.
PUCCI Cafe
LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd, Suite N200 · dog-friendly cafe · open daily until 10pm
PUCCI is a dog-friendly cafe and dog boutique in one, with a human menu, a separate dog menu, dog birthday parties and adoptions. It's typically open from 9am to 10pm every day, so it's also the latest coffee stop in Katy that isn't a drive-through.
Order: your coffee from the human menu, and something from the dog menu for whoever's on the leash.
Insider tip: pair it with a walk around LaCenterra. Check PUCCI's website or social channels before you go: the cafe posts closure notices there.
Drive-throughs
Dutch Bros Coffee
Three Katy locations: 5840 N Fry Rd, 22719 Morton Ranch Rd and 1709 Spring Green Blvd · drive-through
Dutch Bros is the night-owl option. Its Katy stands typically open at 5am and stay open until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes them handy after a late game or a long shift.
Best for: a quick iced drink when every cafe in town has closed.
Black Rock Coffee Bar
Katy locations include 22911 Clay Rd (at Peek Rd) and 811 W Grand Pkwy N (at Franz Rd) · drive-through
Black Rock is the early-bird option, with Katy locations typically opening at 5am. The Clay Road shop runs until 9pm daily; the Franz Road shop closes earlier, at 7pm. If you'd rather brew at home, it also sells its own roasts, including a medium blend called Old Town.
Best for: coffee before a commute down the Grand Parkway.
Save this: a Katy coffee cheat sheet
Earliest cup: Dutch Bros and Black Rock (typically 5am), then Serene Beans and Kona Roastery (typically 6am on weekdays).
Latest cup: Dutch Bros (until 11pm Fridays and Saturdays), PUCCI Cafe (10pm daily), Long Coffee (9pm daily) and Black Rock on Clay Road (9pm).
Coffee roasted in house: Humble Grounds, Serene Beans, Kona Roastery and Cowboy Coast.
A Saturday coffee route:
- Start in Old Town Katy with breakfast tacos and a latte at Humble Grounds, and buy a bag of beans to take home.
- Head over to Serene Beans, also in Old Town, for a second, iced round and a look at the event calendar.
- Head south to Kona Roastery in Cinco Ranch for the 24-hour cold brew to go.
- Finish at PUCCI Cafe in LaCenterra with the dog, then stay for a walk.
Before you go: check hours on each shop's own site the day you go, especially on Sundays, when several open late or close early.
