- Best Bars in Cypress, TX: Taphouses, Sports Bars, Wine and a Barn
Cypress has had a place to dance since 1878. According to the Texas State Historical Association, settlers built a dance hall on Huffmeister Road that year. When it burned, they rebuilt it in corrugated tin with help from the Cypress Gun and Rifle Club, and Tin Hall was still a popular dance hall more than a century later. Going out in Cypress is an old local habit.
These days the bars in Cypress are mostly strip-center sports bars, a craft-beer taphouse, a wine bar and a hill-country grill with a party barn out back. It's the kind of place where the bartender knows your order by your third visit. This is the shortlist we'd hand a friend who just moved out to Cy-Fair and wants to know where to go on a Friday.
What counts as Cypress here
Cypress isn't a city. It's an unincorporated community in northwest Harris County, so "Cypress" can mean almost anything northwest of Highway 6. For this guide, a bar counts only if its mailing address is Cypress, TX, in the 77429 or 77433 ZIP codes. That covers the US 290 corridor, Telge Road, Louetta Road, Barker Cypress Road, Fry Road and the Towne Lake area. We left out Jersey Village, the FM 1960 and Willowbrook area (Houston addresses), Tomball, Hockley and Spring, even where locals would call them "Cy-Fair."

How we chose
We looked for bars and bar-restaurants with a clear reason to go: a patio, a game-day setup, a serious drink list, live music, or a weekly night worth planning around. Every place on this list showed current hours or a current events calendar on its own official website when we checked in October 2026. A few well-loved Cypress names are missing because we couldn't confirm them on an official site. We'll add them once we can.
That gave us nine bars, not a padded ten. Hours, happy hours and event nights change, so treat every detail below as "typically" and check the bar's own site before you go.
Craft beer and wine
Brew:30 Taphouse
Telge Road, 15914 Telge Rd · craft-beer taphouse · closed Mondays
Brew:30 is a bar built around one idea: the taps should change often. It pours from 30 rotating taps plus a list of packaged beers, and posts its tap list on its website, so you can check what's pouring before you leave home. It's not a restaurant. Rotating food trucks park outside on a regular schedule, posted on its events page.
Insider tip: if you find a beer you love, Brew:30 can fill a 32-ounce crowler can or a growler straight from the tap to take home. The taphouse describes itself as family friendly and pet friendly, with a back patio.
Why it's on the list: it's our pick in Cypress for trying a beer you've never had. If you want more taprooms, see our best breweries in Houston.
d'Vine Wine Bar & Bistro
US 290 corridor, 25202 Northwest Fwy, Suite 100 · wine bar and bistro · typically Tuesday to Saturday, from 4 p.m.
d'Vine is a family-owned neighborhood wine bar with a simple rule, in its own words: when the owners find "a revelation in a bottle," it goes on the list. The food is international fusion and bistro plates, made for sharing over a bottle.
What to do: go for d'Vine Social Hour, typically 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with $7 wine by the glass and $7 appetizers. Regulars can join the VIP Wine Locker Club, which gets complimentary tasting events. The bar typically has live music on Friday nights, about 7 to 10 p.m.
Why it's on the list: it's the grown-up date night in Cypress, and the easiest place to drink well without driving into town.
World of Beer (Towne Lake)
Boardwalk at Towne Lake, 9945 Barker Cypress Rd, Suite 120 · beer bar · open daily
World of Beer is a chain, but its Towne Lake location gives Cypress something it doesn't otherwise have: a deep beer list in a walkable lakeside development. It pours beer, wine and spirits, and runs a full food menu with weekend brunch.
What to do: happy hour typically runs 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. The bar lists tap takeovers from breweries, themed trivia nights and live music on its events page, and Monday is build-your-own burger night.
Why it's on the list: a beer before or after a walk on the Towne Lake boardwalk is one of the nicest low-key evenings in Cypress.
Party barns and neighborhood pubs
The Frio - Hill Country Grill & The Barn
West Cypress, 16410 and 16416 Mueschke Rd · grill plus event barn · closed Mondays and Tuesdays
The Frio is two places on one property. The grill serves Hill Country comfort food with what it calls an extensive wine list, a big craft-beer selection, a full bar and outdoor seating. Next door, The Barn is the party.
What to do: check the events calendar and pick your night. Wednesdays are typically Wine Down Wednesday at the grill, with half-price bottles of wine, and Singo Bingo in The Barn. Thursdays are karaoke nights in The Barn. On weekends, The Barn books ticketed tribute-band shows, and during football season it opens for NFL Sundays. The Barn typically opens at 5 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and late morning on Saturday.
Why it's on the list: it's the closest thing Cypress has to its old dance-hall tradition. One of The Barn's theme nights is literally called the "Old People Party at Club Barn."
Lambeau's Sports Bar & Grill
Louetta Road, 13131 Louetta Rd · sports bar · open daily
Lambeau's is built for game days. It carries NFL Sunday Ticket and promises college and NFL games every game day. Happy hour runs typically from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, which is unusually generous.
What to order: the monthly egg roll special. The kitchen changes it every month, and there's a monthly cocktail feature too. Tuesdays are typically steak night with live music, roughly 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Why it's on the list: it's a real neighborhood sports bar, with big-game energy and a kitchen that tries harder than it has to. Open from 10 a.m. on weekends, so you can settle in before early kickoffs.
Koozies Sports Bar and Grill
Barker Cypress Road, 8190 Barker Cypress Rd, Suite 300 · sports bar · open daily, until 2 a.m. on weekends
Koozies is a family-owned sports bar with a full weekly calendar. Happy hour is typically extended, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The draft list mixes the usual light lagers with Houston beers like Saint Arnold Art Car.
What to do: Wednesday is free music bingo, Friday is live music from about 8 to 11 p.m., and Saturday is karaoke night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Koozies is typically open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, which makes it one of the later options on this list.
Why it's on the list: for a cheap, cheerful night with a microphone, this is the one.
Mak's Pub & Grill
Fry Road, 9818 Fry Rd, Suite 130 · pub and grill · open daily
Mak's calls itself a neighborhood pub, but the cocktail list is more ambitious than most sports bars in the area. The menu leans Cajun and Texan: seafood, po'boys, Cajun pasta and burgers.
What to order: the S'mores Martini, or the Lychee Tini if you want something lighter. The bar also makes an Old Fashioned and a French 75. Happy hour is typically 3 to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and Thursday is steak night.
Why it's on the list: it's a pub where you can order a proper cocktail with your seafood.
Game-day chains worth knowing
BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse
US 290, 25660 Northwest Fwy · restaurant and brewhouse · open daily
BJ's is a national chain with its own house-brewed beer. The house lineup includes beers like Jeremiah Red, Tatonka Stout and LightSwitch Lager, plus a rotating seasonal. It's typically open until midnight, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Insider tip: happy hour is served in the bar area, including a late-night window on some weeknights. Check the location page for current times.
Why it's on the list: it's the easiest group dinner-and-a-beer stop in Cypress when you've got kids and a game on.
Pluckers Wing Bar
US 290, 25310 Northwest Fwy · wing bar · open daily
Pluckers started as a dorm-room idea. Its founders were University of Texas freshmen frustrated that only pizza and Chinese places delivered to the dorms. They tested their wings at a campus chili cook-off, showing up with 1,000 pounds of wings cooked at their fraternity house, and they were the only non-chili booth there. Pluckers opened near UT on July 23, 1995. Today its restaurants have full bars, flat-screen TVs and patios.
Why it's on the list: wings, a cold beer and every screen on the game. Check the location page for current hours.
