Houston Hotels with the Best Pools (and Day Passes)

Houston hotels with pools illustration: rooftop pool with gold coping, rippling teal water, and city skyline at night

Houston has nine hotels with pools worth making a trip for, and seven of them sell day passes to non-guests. The cheapest starts at $25 at the Hyatt Regency Houston. The most distinctive is the Marriott Marquis's Texas-shaped lazy river — the only one of its kind in the world, according to the hotel. You don't need a room key to use it; book through ResortPass.

The quick list

  • Marriott Marquis Houston, Downtown — Texas-shaped lazy river and infinity pool, from $30
  • Hyatt Regency Houston, Downtown — 6th-floor rooftop, from $25

All day-pass prices are starting points. ResortPass rates vary by date, and summer weekend pricing runs noticeably higher across all properties.

How we chose

We looked for pools that have something worth going out of your way for: a view, an unusual feature, strong food and drink, or an experience that sets the property apart. Each entry was confirmed open and operating via its official website or an active ResortPass listing in October 2026. We excluded the JW Marriott Houston Downtown (no pool currently — a rooftop pool is under construction) and any property requiring a spa treatment purchase to access the pool.

Day-pass pools

Marriott Marquis Houston

Downtown, 1777 Walker St — day passes from $30 weekdays — all ages — book via ResortPass

This is the pool that put Houston on the map for hotel swimming. The Marriott Marquis has the world's only Texas-shaped lazy river, per the hotel's own description, and nothing else on this list or anywhere else competes with that claim. The rooftop pool deck also has a heated infinity pool, an adults-only hot tub, and the Pure Spa steam rooms. High Dive and Sky Bar is poolside for food and cocktails.

Day passes start around $30 on weekdays and have reached $105+ on peak summer weekends — check ResortPass for your specific date before you commit. Cabana and daybed upgrades range from $36 for a daybed (2 guests) up to $1,000 for a full-day double gazebo. One thing to plan around: the hotel connects directly to the George R. Brown Convention Center, so pool capacity on convention days can be high.

Best for: first-time visitors, families, anyone who wants to say they floated inside a Texas-shaped lazy river.

Hyatt Regency Houston

Downtown, 1200 Louisiana St — day passes from $25 — all ages — book via ResortPass

The most affordable day pass on this list, and a genuinely useful option for anyone already spending the day in Downtown Houston. The pool is a compact 6th-floor outdoor rooftop, open daily from 6am to 10pm. It's functional without being lavish — limited shade, no cabanas — but at $25 per person, it's the right call for a group that wants a downtown pool without a big commitment. Towels and Wi-Fi are included; discounted valet is available at $18.

Best for: budget-conscious day passes, groups, visitors already in the convention district.

Hilton Americas-Houston

Downtown, 1600 Lamar St — day passes from $60 — all ages — book via ResortPass

The standout here is that the pool is indoors. An infinity-edge heated lap pool sits on the 24th floor, wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass with city views. In a city where July afternoons routinely exceed 95°F, an air-conditioned indoor pool changes the experience entirely. The Skyline Spa and Health Club on the same floor adds a whirlpool, steam room, sauna, and aromatherapy steam room.

Day passes start at $60; a Spa Pass that includes all the spa facilities runs from $90. A Group Pass for 4 guests starts at $200. Free parking is included with every day pass — a genuine perk in downtown Houston, where parking routinely costs $20–$40.

Best for: escaping the summer heat, a spa-plus-swim combination, groups of four who want the most for the money.

Four Seasons Hotel Houston

Downtown, 1300 Lamar St — day passes from $75 adults / $65 children — all ages — book via ResortPass

The Four Seasons pool is the most polished on the list. It's outdoors and tiled in Turkish travertine, lined with palms and a water wall. The Pool Deck Cafe serves food, drinks, and what the hotel describes as frozen grapes and aloe vera spritzes. Saturday DJs are programmed in summer. Cabanas for up to 4 guests start at $450.

At $75 per adult, it's the steepest standalone day pass here, but the service level matches it. If you want to pair a pool afternoon with a serious dinner, the Four Seasons dining room is among the best hotel restaurants in Houston. The on-site spa is covered in our best spas in Houston guide.

Best for: a special-occasion pool day, anyone who wants the full luxury treatment.

Thompson Houston

Downtown, above Buffalo Bayou Park — 21+ only — day passes available via ResortPass

The Thompson is a boutique property perched at the eastern edge of downtown, with its 7th-floor rooftop pool looking out over Buffalo Bayou Park and the skyline. The 21+ restriction is firm — this is deliberately an adult retreat. The aesthetic is art-filled and deliberate; the pool is one of the better Houston skyline views you can get at pool level.

Day-pass pricing fluctuates on ResortPass, so check for your exact date before booking. If you're planning a date night in Houston, a late-afternoon pool visit here followed by dinner in EaDo makes an easy itinerary.

Best for: adults only, date days, anyone who wants a boutique-hotel pool away from the convention-center crowds.

La Colombe d'Or Hotel

Montrose, 3410 Montrose Blvd — day passes from $65 adults / $30 children ages 3–12 — complimentary valet included — book via ResortPass

The only non-downtown option with a day pass, and the one with the most walkable neighborhood around it. The rooftop pool is linear and modern, with a clear downtown Houston skyline view. Bar No. 3 on the same floor is open daily from 11am to midnight; the French bistro Tonight and Tomorrow is downstairs.

The Montrose location is the key differentiator. After a pool afternoon, you can walk to Montrose bars, restaurants, and galleries without getting back in a car. Day passes include complimentary valet. Adults pay from $65; children ages 3–12 pay from $30.

Best for: a Montrose day trip, a less-corporate crowd, a mixed pool-and-neighborhood itinerary.

Hotel ZaZa Museum District

Museum District, 5701 Main St — cabana-only access from $500 for 4 guests — book via ResortPass

Hotel ZaZa's outdoor resort-style pool is the most visually striking on this list: turquoise water, white loungers, a daily poolside bar from 11am to 7pm. The tradeoff is access — non-guests can only enter via a poolside cabana, and those start at $500 for up to 4 people. That includes shaded seating, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, and valet parking for two vehicles.

At $125 per person for a group of four, it's splurge territory, but the pool is one of the prettiest in the city. The ZaSpa is on-site for anyone who wants to add a treatment. If you're already spending the day in the Museum District, a ZaZa cabana makes a natural afternoon anchor.

Best for: a full Museum District itinerary with a luxurious pool anchor, groups of 4 who will make the most of the cabana.

Guests-only pools worth booking a room for

Two Uptown properties don't offer day passes, but both have pools that justify the room rate.

The Post Oak Hotel

Uptown/Galleria — guests only — rooms typically from $486/night

Texas's only five-star hotel and spa keeps its outdoor pool strictly private. The setting is a tropical courtyard sanctuary: a Jacuzzi that overflows into the pool at night, a fire pit, and polished chaise lounges. Pool cabanas for up to 4 guests are bookable through the concierge (346.227.5041). For a stay in the Galleria/Uptown area with full five-star service, this is the property. See our best luxury hotels in Houston guide for how it compares.

Hotel Granduca Houston

Uptown/Galleria — guests only — rooms typically from $204/night

Hotel Granduca is a boutique Italian-villa property with an outdoor heated saltwater pool in a secluded garden courtyard. Lush greenery, a pool bar, and plush lounge chairs make it one of the most restful pool settings in Houston. The deliberate privacy — no day passes, no resort-fee crowds — is the point. Rooms start from about $204 on weekday nights, the most accessible price point among the upscale options on this list.

Save this: day-pass pool checklist

Before you book:

  • Day-pass prices vary by date on ResortPass. Marriott Marquis weekends can top $100 per person in summer — check the specific date before you commit.
  • The Hilton Americas day pass includes free parking. At every other downtown property, budget separately for parking.
  • Thompson Houston is 21+ with no exceptions. Don't plan to bring anyone under 21.
  • Hotel ZaZa requires a full cabana purchase (from $500) — there is no lower-cost individual entry.
  • The Post Oak Hotel and Hotel Granduca do not offer day passes; you must book a room.
  • Weekdays are cheaper and less crowded at every property on this list.
  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen. Most hotel pools offer sunscreen only as a spray; having your own is faster.
  • At the Marriott Marquis, the lazy river and the infinity pool are separate zones — ask at check-in which areas your pass covers.
