- Best Coffee Shops in Spring, TX: Old Town, Bakeries and Drive-Thrus
Spring doesn't do coffee the way the Inner Loop does. There's no single cafe strip to wander. Instead, the best coffee shops in Spring sit in an old railroad town, in a bakery off Kuykendahl with a drive-thru window, and in the drive-thru lanes that line FM 2920 and Louetta from 6 am. Think of this guide as the map: where to sit, where to work, and where to grab a cup without unbuckling.
Start with a fact most commuters don't know. Old Town Spring was a railroad town, and its preservation league says a fourteen-track rail yard was built in the heart of town in 1901. The depot you'll see there today was brought in from Lovelady in the 1990s, and several of the old buildings were rescued from other railroad towns, including Westfield and the Heights. So your Old Town latte comes with a backstory older than every Houston freeway.
The quick list
- For coffee, beer and an open mic in one stop: Trilogy Brew in Old Town Spring.
- For a croissant you can order from your car: Common Bond Bistro & Bakery on Kuykendahl.
- For the local drive-thru with a Spring-roasted cup: DeNovo Coffee on Louetta.
- For coffee roasted over Texas post oak: Summer Moon on Woodson Reserve Parkway.
- For a laptop morning with free Wi-Fi: Beans & Brews on FM 2920.
- For a late-night tea or coffee run: Yicha Tea and Coffee near City Place.
- For a drive-thru on any side of Spring: Dutch Bros, with six Spring stands.
- For the most customizable drink: 7 Brew on Kuykendahl.
How we chose (and where we drew the line)
Our boundary. Spring is unincorporated, so there's no city limit to point to. For this guide, Spring means the places with a Spring, TX address in the 77373, 77379, 77386, 77388 and 77389 ZIP codes, from Old Town and the I-45 corridor west to Kuykendahl and Champion Forest, and north to the Rayford and Woodson Reserve area. We left out everything inside The Woodlands Township, even though several of its villages also use Spring mailing addresses. We also left out shops along FM 1960, which mostly carry Houston addresses.
Our test. Every pick had to be confirmed open on its own official website in October 2026, with a clear reason to choose it over the next cafe down the road. We favored locally owned shops, then added the drive-through chains that genuinely solve a Spring problem: an early start, a long commute, or a car full of kids.
A note on roasters. We went looking for an independent roaster with its own public cafe inside our boundary and couldn't confirm one on an official site. The closest thing is DeNovo, whose beans come from a roaster it describes as a Spring native. If you know one we missed, we'd love to hear about it.
Hours change, so treat every schedule below as "typically" and check the shop's own site before you go.
Old Town Spring
Trilogy Brew
Old Town Spring, 417 Gentry St · coffee, beer and waffles · typically closed Mondays
Trilogy Brew is our pick for the most fun coffee stop in Spring, and the menu tells you why before you order. The specialty drinks are named like a fantasy movie marathon: Valinor is a peanut butter frappe, Rivendell is a salted caramel mocha, Chaibacca is a dirty chai and Wampa Juice is white mocha with coconut. There's also a short list of coffee mocktails, like the Cold Fashioned, made with cold brew, maple and orange. It pours craft beer and wine as well, and there is a separate waffle menu.
Insider tip: Trilogy typically stays open until midnight Thursday through Saturday, and its Thursday open mic night runs from 8 pm to midnight. That makes it one of the few places in Spring where coffee can be an evening plan. Check the events page for the monthly paint-and-sip night.
Best for: a slow Old Town afternoon. Pair it with our things to do in Spring guide.
Kuykendahl and the west side
Common Bond Bistro & Bakery (Spring)
Kuykendahl corridor, 21620 Kuykendahl Rd · bakery, all-day cafe and drive-thru · open daily
Common Bond is a Houston bakery-cafe group, and its Spring location was the first Common Bond Bistro & Bakery built with a drive-thru, according to the company. That means you can get hand-laminated croissants, a breakfast sandwich and a specialty coffee without leaving the car. Inside, the all-day menu covers breakfast and lunch, from Lemon Stuffed French Toast to salads and sandwiches.
The hours make it a solid work-friendly cafe: the bakery typically runs from 7 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and until 8 pm on Sunday, and the drive-thru opens at 7 am daily.
Also in Spring: Common Bond has a second Spring bistro at City Place, 1700 City Plaza Dr, which is handy if you work in the offices there.
Best for: a breakfast meeting, or a box of pastries for the office.
7 Brew
Kuykendahl corridor, 21410 Kuykendahl Rd · drive-thru stand
7 Brew started in Northwest Arkansas in 2017 and says its menu adds up to more than 20,000 possible drinks across coffees, energy drinks, sodas, teas, lemonades, smoothies and shakes. If you're the person who orders off-menu, this is your stand. It takes cash as well as cards and phone pay.
Best for: a kid-friendly treat run, since much of the menu has no coffee in it.
FM 2920 and Louetta
DeNovo Coffee
Louetta, 4880 Louetta Rd · local drive-thru · typically 6 am to 6 pm daily
DeNovo is the local answer to the drive-thru chains, and it has been pouring on Louetta since May 2015, by its own account. Its owners say they tested beans from multiple roasters in four states before settling on Purefi Coffee Roasters, run by a Spring native. The house motto is "Stay Charged," which feels about right at 6 am on Louetta.
Best for: the daily commute. It's our pick if you want your drive-thru money to stay in Spring.
Beans & Brews
FM 2920 near Rhodes Rd, 5200 FM 2920 · cafe with drive-thru · opens at 6 am most days
Beans & Brews comes from Salt Lake City, where the company opened in 1993, and here's the detail that makes it worth a stop: it roasts its beans at high altitude, 4,404 feet to be exact, by its own account. The Spring shop has lobby seating, free Wi-Fi and a drive-thru, and it typically stays open later on Thursday through Saturday than early in the week.
What to order: a classic latte and a slice of cinnamon walnut bread.
Best for: a laptop morning. It lists free Wi-Fi and lobby seating, so settle in for work or study.
Spring Stuebner, City Place and Rayford
Yicha Tea and Coffee
Near City Place, 2174 Spring Stuebner Rd, Suite 370 · tea house that also pours coffee · open late
Yicha's name roughly translates to "number one tea," and tea is the star here, but it keeps coffee on the menu for the non-tea drinker in the group. The reason it makes this list is the clock: it typically stays open until 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 pm on Friday and Saturday, later than most shops on this list. City Place's directory lists brown sugar boba and crème brûlée drinks among the highlights.
Best for: a late study session or an after-dinner drink. More boba ideas are in our best boba guide.
Summer Moon Coffee
Rayford and Woodson Reserve area, 3917 Woodson Reserve Pkwy, Unit 100 · cafe with drive-thru · typically 6 am to 8 pm weekdays
Summer Moon roasts its coffee over a wood fire. Its story page says the beans are still roasted in the Texas Hill Country in brick ovens over seasoned Texas post oak, which gives the coffee a smoky edge you'll either love or not. The signature move is Moon Milk, the brand's sweet cream, added to just about anything. The Spring shop is locally owned, has indoor seating, free Wi-Fi, a drive-thru and pet-friendly outdoor seating, and it's minutes from Grand Oaks High School.
What to order: an iced coffee with Moon Milk.
Best for: families and students, and the dog.
The drive-thru network
Dutch Bros Coffee
Six Spring stands · drive-thru and walk-up windows
If you live in Spring, there's probably a Dutch Bros on your way somewhere. Its locator lists six Spring stands: 19366 I-45, 5258 FM 2920, 8617 Spring Cypress Rd, 6914 Louetta Rd, 1943 Spring Stuebner Rd and 2345 Rayford Rd. Each has a drive-thru and a pickup window, and the stands typically stay open into the evening. The menu runs to 25 flavors, plus the brand's Rebel drinks, so it's an easy stop for a mixed carload.
Best for: whichever side of Spring you happen to be on.
