- Best Bakeries in The Woodlands: Croissants, Sourdough, Cake
The best bakeries in The Woodlands are Levure Bakery & Patisserie in Creekside Park for French croissants and bread, Tosca Italian Gourmet for focaccia and cannoli, Knead Me Bakery in neighboring Shenandoah for sourdough, and Dessert Gallery Bakery & Café on Waterway Square for cake by the slice. Kolache Factory, Frost Bake Shoppe, Madame Brioche Bistro, Paris Baguette and Nothing Bundt Cakes round out the list. Each one was confirmed open on its own website in November 2026.
Here's the fun part: around The Woodlands you can buy a sourdough starter that has a name (it's called Gary), eat a brioche that takes two days to make, and order a slice of cake at 11:30 on a Friday night. This guide sorts it all out by what you're craving, with a Saturday bakery route at the end.
The quick list
- Best croissant run: Levure Bakery & Patisserie, Creekside Park.

How we chose
We looked for bakeries that bake on site and sell over the counter, so you can walk in without a custom order. Each pick had to post current hours and an address on its own official website when we checked in November 2026. Bakeries we couldn't confirm that way are left out. That includes a few long-running local names whose websites have gone offline. We mixed independent bakeries with a few chains that have a real Woodlands storefront, because sometimes you need a cake at 8 p.m. on a Tuesday.
Hours change, so treat every schedule below as "typically" and check the bakery's site before you go. Several picks close one or two days a week.
French bakeries and patisseries
Levure Bakery & Patisserie
Creekside Park, 26400 Kuykendahl Rd, Suite A160 · French bakery and café · open daily
Levure Bakery & Patisserie in the Village of Creekside Park is the closest thing The Woodlands has to a Paris corner bakery. It describes its food as traditional French provisions made fresh daily with organic ingredients, and it serves breakfast, lunch and coffee alongside the pastry case. The address uses a Tomball mailing city, but the bakery sits in Creekside Park.
What to order: the twice-baked almond croissant, a kouign-amann, the Texas sticky bun or the Nutella cruffin. Take home a baguette or a sourdough loaf. If you stay for lunch, some sandwiches, like the grilled cheese, come on blue cornmeal sourdough.
Good to know: Levure typically opens at 8 a.m. every day and stays open into the evening Tuesday through Saturday, but closes mid-afternoon on Mondays. Check the official site for current hours.
Madame Brioche Bistro
FM 1488 near The Woodlands, 2400 FM 1488, Suite 100 · French-American bakery-bistro · open daily
Madame Brioche Bistro on FM 1488 is built around one thing: a brioche that it says takes two days to make, baked from scratch with French techniques. The address carries a Conroe mailing city, but the bistro lists The Woodlands among the areas it serves.
What to order: brioche French toast at breakfast, a croque at lunch, and a pastry for the road. Dinner is served only Thursday through Saturday evenings, according to the bistro's posted hours.
Insider tip: Madame Brioche offers 10% off for military, veterans, first responders, nurses and teachers. Details are on the official site.

Tosca Italian Gourmet on Borough Park Drive in The Woodlands is a family-founded Italian bakery, started in December 2021, that calls itself a little piece of Italy in Texas. Its espresso drinks use only Lavazza coffee.
What to order: the bakery's own recommendations are a good map. For breakfast, croissants, cinnamon rolls or kouign-amann. For bread, the traditional focaccia, hand-stretched and baked with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. For dessert, Sicilian cannoli, tiramisù or the Nonna cake. Sandwiches, such as the Arezzo with prosciutto San Daniele, truffle cream and arugula, make it a lunch stop too.

Sourdough and bread
Knead Me Bakery
Shenandoah, 8920 Metropark Dr, Suite 800 · sourdough bakery · Wednesday to Sunday
Knead Me Bakery in Shenandoah, just north of The Woodlands, is the bread specialist on this list. Its sourdough is flour, water and salt, and the bakery rotates its bread menu daily and its scones and cookies weekly, so every visit is a little different.
What to order: an original sourdough loaf, or one with an inclusion like jalapeño cheese, caramelized onion or triple chocolate. Bread nerds should look for the einkorn loaves. Add a scone; the savory ones, like French herb and Gruyère, are the move.
The "I didn't know that" moment: you can buy a packet of the bakery's own sourdough starter. Its name is Gary. The basic packet holds 30 grams of Gary with rehydration instructions, enough for three starters, and the kit adds a mason jar and a stir stick. It's our favorite bakery gift under $20.
Good to know: Knead Me is typically open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, closed Monday and Tuesday. The bakery posts its daily menu on social media; check the official site first.
