Conroe

Conroe is the Montgomery County seat, about 40 miles north of downtown Houston on I-45. Born around Isaac Conroe's 1881 sawmill and remade by the 1931 oil strike, it's known for its courthouse-square downtown, the Crighton Theatre and Lake Conroe just to the northwest.
