Wingate Houston near NRG Park/Medical Center

David, the general manager, was great. He was in the lobby while we were checking in and took the time to have a nice conversation with us, which made us feel very welcome. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful. The location is excellent—within walking distance to NRG Stadium.

For the price point, this hotel isn’t as bad as most people are saying it is, imo. Room was clean. The woman at the front desk was friendly when i checked in and the man at the front desk when i checked out was also friendly. Location is perfect for any event at NRG. No bugs. Free parking. A lot of former guests mentioned the AC being loud or not working, mine was fine and made the same amount of noise any other hotel room would make. Idk about the free breakfast as i slept through it. My only issues were that the sink had slow drainage, the plastic shower curtain was missing (cloth one for the outside was there), and for whatever reason the tub was what looked like spray painted toward the drain. Other than that i would def book/stay again.

This hotel offered lots of disappointment to this seasoned traveler. First, it doesn’t have its own dedicated entrance - it is shared with the Wyndham and it’s hard to tell where the hotel is. We had this issue and our Uber Eats driver did as well so it wasn’t just us. They sell bottled water and such but you can’t charge it to your room…you have to pay separately. I’ve never had a hotel that required you to pay separately. Website said there was free parking yet we were charged $30 for parking! They do not offer coffee outside of breakfast hours (not even by 30 minutes) so if you have an early departure you will have to plan on getting your cup of Joe from somewhere else. Breakfast offering is lame — cereal and a few pastries. The security guard was literally the person setting up the breakfast bar…I question if he is even trained in proper food handling. Lobby is decent but the rest of the place/rooms could use a facelift. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is that it’s within walking distance of NRG, but there are other options just as close. We will not entertain staying here again.

Great location to NRG stadium!. Easy check in. Room was clean and neat. Bed was uncomfortable and too firm for me. Breakfast on Sunday morning was not what I expected. Yogurt, muffins, cereal, ect. Nothing hot by the time we went around 8 am. The hotel has easy access to the main highway and there are other restaurants near by.

I actually had a company meeting here. The employees are very professional and courteous. They even offered to walk me to the meeting room that was reserved. It was quite a walk due to renovations. That is very understandable. In order to keep the building in it's prime. I will definitely be coming back, for sure. Maybe during vacation and or to visit the attractions near bye.
