I am working at the George R Bush convention center. The Westin is 2 blocks away and a really easy walk. I like to have a place where I can grab a quick bite at the end if my day and head to my room. The lobby bar is the perfect place. The food is amazing! The valet folks have all been great. The front desk staff the same. I have no complaints and highly recommend staying at the Westin, especially if you are in townnon business.

If you’re traveling on government business, avoid this hotel. Although this hotel advertises government-rate rooms, they choose to serve only the highest-tier federal employees—not contractors—even though we follow the same travel rules. I was denied check-in just as severe weather was approaching. Fortunately, I found a nearby hotel that also honors the government rate (without an arbitrary policy about whom they will serve). I can’t imagine what would have happened if my flight had been delayed and this had occurred late at night. Don’t risk it.

A very late review but better than never! I stayed at this hotel from May 28th - June 1st for Dreamcon that was hosted at the George R. Brown Convention Center. I have never stayed at a Westin hotel so I didn't know what to expect but this hotel is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at, maybe even the nicest. The front of house staffing and front guest were very welcoming when we entered and exited. Those who worked in housekeeping, the marketplace, and at the restaurant were all kind and helpful. I wish I knew the name of every staff member that worked during that time but I can at least name two who made our stay amazing, Jestine and DJ. For the hospitality that they gave us, I hope they receive some type of raise or bonus. From big laughters, having great conversations, and being able to help us when we needed something, those two were amazing. This convention is scheduled again for next year and I have already decided that I will be staying here at this hotel once again. I look forward to my stay next year once scheduled! Thank you to everyone who worked those dates during our stay. :)

The Westin Downtown hosted our wedding block and they were absolutely wonderful. The service was top notch, the rooms were clean, modern, and affordable, and the lounge and bar downstairs was the perfect place to have a drink and visit with friends and family. We could not be any happier with our experience!

Decent hotel, with reasonably nice rooms and bathrooms. However, didn't get any sleep as there were constant pops and cracks coming from the walls all night long, loud enough that we could hear them over our white noise app at full volume. Outside of toilet bowl had dried feces on it. Fan in bedroom unusable given how loud it was wghen turned on. Overall, disappointing Marriott property for us (perennial Titanium member).
