Caribbean Jerk Palace was already on my radar before we even unpacked our bags. As someone who actively writes reviews across platforms, I always research nearby spots when traveling… and this one kept pulling me back in. The menu, the photos, the feedback… everything said we needed to make this happen before leaving. We went on our last night, and I can confidently say the experience lived up to the hype. My husband handled pickup, and even that part deserves recognition. The restaurant had a steady crowd, including what he described as a mix of locals like a policeman and a real estate agent… which honestly told me a lot. When people who live and work in an area frequent a place, that usually speaks volumes. One detail I truly appreciated… they present your food for review before bagging it. That small step eliminates so many common takeout issues. No incorrect orders, no surprises once you get back, no disappointment. You see exactly what you’re getting, and if anything needs adjusting, it can be handled immediately. That level of consideration is rare and very intentional. The atmosphere, based on what we observed on prior evenings and what my husband confirmed, was relaxed and welcoming. No rushed energy, no tension… just a smooth, easygoing vibe. Now, the food… It was flavorful, not salty, and portioned generously. I’m not known for finishing full meals, but when I’m in HTX, I make an effort 😂 This time… plate cleared, well the take out container lol… Every bite was satisfying, and there was absolutely nothing underwhelming about it. I rated the food a four despite the glowing review because the cabbage was overcooked… at least for me. I prefer a light crunch but it was complimentary to the jerk catfish. To top things off, we were given a coupon sheet valid through late May, which was a pleasant surprise. We visit the area often since our young adult children live here, so a return is already in the plans. Next trip, we’re aiming to stay in 3rd Ward and dine in to fully enjoy the environment and connect with the local crowd. Caribbean Jerk Palace delivered on food, service, and overall experience. No exaggeration… no disappointment. Chef’s 💋 until next time.

Parking: We saw many people parking in a grass / gravel lot across the street. We parked there with no issues. The parking behind the restaurant was full. Next, we walked into the place and we were greeted and asked how many were in our party. We stated at three and the hostess told us 20 minutes. I asked how will we be contacted? She stated that she would take my name. I asked are you going to call me or text me? Do you need my phone number? She said no just come back in 20 minutes. I looked around & the bar was full and there was nowhere to sit so we went back to our car. We saw people coming out of the restaurant around 15 minutes later so we went back inside and the hostess looked at us and said you have eight minutes left. We just looked at each other puzzled. So we stood there and our third person walked in so she asked some of the servers to clear a table for us. Shortly after she informed us our table was suddenly ready. The whole interaction was weird. Anyway, our server was very kind and he was very accommodating. We ordered salmon egg rolls, beef patties, and calamari for our appetizers along with a first round of drinks. A different server brought our appetizers and when she placed them on the table, she presented it as chicken eggrolls. I informed her that we had ordered salmon egg rolls. She was confused and then she immediately came back and said these are actually salmon eggrolls. My friend requested cocktail sauce because we were unfamiliar with the very very tiny dipping sauce that accommodated the huge plate of calamari. A different server brought the cocktail sauce while I tasted the tiny sauce that accommodated the calamari and I actually liked it so we asked another server passing by what kind of sauce it was and what were the ingredients and we were simply told it’s the special sauce. I asked her again what are the ingredients and she said she didn’t know and walked away. When our original server came back to the table we asked for more special sauce. Within a few minutes we received another very very tiny portion of special sauce, which we quickly consumed. There were three of us and we still had beef patties, salmon egg rolls, and much more calamari left so we asked if we could have more special sauce and we didn’t mind paying for it. At that point we were actually told that there wasn’t anymore. Then the special sauce became a huge conversation between the waiters and a manager. I simply informed them that we were not interested in making a big deal about it. It just seemed strange that if it was such a special sauce that there would be more available and that customer should be able to purchase it. One of the managers gave us a story about having a huge funeral or something, and that there was no more special sauce and that there was so many ingredients needed to create it that they just didn’t have anymore but somehow she had one more very very tiny container of special sauce. These containers were so tiny. I just want to emphasize that! We were just looking at each other and disbelief because we were really just willing to pay for more special sauce! But anyway we ordered another round of drinks and my second drink looked and tasted different from the first whiskey drink that I ordered. I didn’t say anything because at this point we were frustrated so we ordered our entrées and the food was good. I do want to mention that there is something that is available but not featured on the menu. It’s the cornbread topped with sweet potatoes. It’s very good and it should be listed on the menu. The only reason I knew about it was because I saw it on Instagram. Our waiter came to check on us again and I must mention again he was very nice and very accommodating and overall it was an okay experience because of him. He even offered us coupons. The food was enjoyable, but with the thousands and thousands of restaurants available in Houston I probably will not be back anytime soon just based on FRUSTRATION.

I finally tried this Jamaican restaurant and overall, the food was really good. Everything I ordered was delicious except for the oxtails. The oxtails were unfortunately tough, which was disappointing. However, the oxtail gravy itself was really good — I ordered some on the side and poured it over my rice, and that part definitely hit. The brown stew chicken was about a 7/10 — good flavor, but not my favorite item on the plate. Now for the stars of the meal: • Mac & Cheese: 10/10 • Yams: 10/10 • Sweet Potato Cornbread: 10/10 • Cabbage: 10/10 (I just wish it was cooked a little crispier instead of overly soft) • Sidecar drink: 10/10 — very strong, in a good way • Rice & Peas: 10/10 especially with the oxtail gravy Overall, I’d definitely come back because most of the food was fire — but I’d skip the oxtails next time unless they improve the tenderness.

I visited Caribbean Jerk Palace and tried the jerk pizza, and let me just say, it was phenomenal! The crust was perfectly crisp, the cheese melted just right, and that jerk seasoning brought the perfect balance of heat, spice, and smoky island flavor. Every bite had that signature Caribbean flair that makes your taste buds dance! The patio was a great touch a decent size, comfortable, and perfect for enjoying your meal outdoors with a nice breeze. Inside, the restaurant was spacious, clean, and had a lively, welcoming vibe. You can tell they put thought into creating a place that feels both relaxed and full of energy. Also has a DJ booth I'm assuming for special days. The service was top notch friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. My food came out fresh and hot, and the staff made sure everything was perfect. Between the amazing food, great service, and the laidback ambience, this place is a total gem. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and check out Caribbean Jerk Palace and definitely don't skip the jerk pizza. It's a flavor experience you won't forget! I'll definitely be back
