I am having my wedding here, and I thought everything was very nice, it is old, it is very funky and artsy. The rooms are decorated a little strangely, but that's okay with me. If you are booking this place with a large event make sure you get them to sign a contract! You won't get one unless you push it and they say they won't write one up but they will. It is way too much money to put down without one. Any good business will write up one with no problem because they want to back their word up. They are not as prompt to getting back to you as I would like. Overall I like really the place as it fits the offbeat theme of my wedding, though I would never stay here just for a night or two.

Overall, I'd give this a FAIR score. The room was fine, but the AC was on so high, we were freezing most of the time. Regarding breakfast service: The paperwork stated that on the days we were there, there would be a continental, self service breakfast before 9 a.m. After 9 a.m, there would be full-service breakfast. We had an early morning commitment the first morning of our visit, so I went down at 7:30 a.m. to get something to eat. A woman greeted me but told me nothing would be ready until 9 a.m. So we went hungry that morning. Later that day, I sent an e-mail to the owner who was very apologetic about the "communication" problem with the woman who greeted us (who apparently didn't understand English very well). The owner didn't offer to give us a discount or any other amenity to make up for the missed breakfast. (If you're going to hire people who do not understand English, do not have them be the hostess.) We did get breakfast the next day, which was okay, but a bit skimpy in quantity. I was hoping to find a nice B&B in this neighborhood because I will be doing a lot of visits to Houston in the next few years, but I'll be looking for someplace else to stay.
