This hotel has great potential. Visited on business and stayed in a corner suite. Windows and city views throughout, spacious, with nice decor and comfortable bedding. Service was very friendly and attentive from arrival. The room is described as “newly renovated” however it is in great need of repair, paint, and cleaning. Lighting and amenities in the bathroom and kitchen were also lacking. Edited: Oddly none of the photos of ceiling mold, bubbling paint, stains, separating seams, and dirty walls were posted. Makes me question how many other reviews are missing information.

I stayed at The Magnolia Houston for four nights (January 19–23, 2026) and had a good overall experience. The room was clean and comfortable, though I did find a discarded press-on nail on the floor one evening, which was a bit surprising. Aside from that, housekeeping was solid. WiFi was reliable, and the bathroom and shower were very good — great water pressure and well maintained. The on-site gym is about average. It’s fine for a basic workout, but the treadmills aren’t great quality. The rooftop pool is nice but fairly small, so don’t expect a resort-style setup. Front desk and bell service were excellent — friendly, helpful, and professional throughout my stay. One of the real highlights of the hotel is the second-floor restaurant, The Dispatch. The food quality and selection were excellent. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, as well as the lunch and dinner options. The hotel is conveniently located downtown, close to the convention centre and other attractions. That said, one block over near the metro line can feel a bit sketchy, and you do need to stay alert when walking around, especially in the evening. The hotel itself was quiet, not overly crowded, and comfortable — which I appreciated. Overall, I would recommend staying here, particularly for business travel or convention visits, and I’d happily stay again.

Ive stayed at this hotel before with no complaint, so I chose to stay here again after an event for my husband's birthday. Needless to say the experience was not the same as in July. We got in around 8 but the phone in my room didn't work to order room service, we finally got some food and the bread on my sandwich was soggy as mush so I shared my husband's food and tried to watch some TV but that didn't work wither. It acted like an old school antenna cutting in and out but I was too tired to try and get moved to another room so went to sleep. In the am we wanted to go back up to the roof where the pool and stuff is for a nice view of the city but it was 1.5 hrs after it should have been open but still wasnt. Instead of saying for breakfast I just left at that point and I dont think it will be worth returning sadly to say because I love the historical nature of the building.

The staff at this hotel get 5 stars! Everyone from the welcome desk to the dispatch restaurant have been great! The shuttle really made a difference in our trip since we were here for a convention! Special shout out to Marcayla A. at the dispatch who made sure our morning were started right. It’s a tribute hotel so obviously the interiors are a little “aged” but still classy as always

We returned to this hotel for Valentine’s Day because we had such a wonderful experience here years ago, and we were truly hoping to relive those memories. Unfortunately, this visit fell short in a big way. The food looked beautiful in the photos, but the taste did not match the presentation, and the service throughout our stay was mediocre at best. One of the details we were looking forward to was the advertised complimentary milk and cookie hour. It ended up being more frustrating than enjoyable — the items were set out late, and if we hadn’t asked about the milk, it wouldn’t have been brought out at all. When it finally arrived, the milk was warm and the cookies were cold and hard. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. This visit did not come close to the experience we remembered or the special Valentine’s celebration we had hoped for.
