I stayed at The Magnolia Houston for four nights (January 19–23, 2026) and had a good overall experience. The room was clean and comfortable, though I did find a discarded press-on nail on the floor one evening, which was a bit surprising. Aside from that, housekeeping was solid. WiFi was reliable, and the bathroom and shower were very good — great water pressure and well maintained. The on-site gym is about average. It’s fine for a basic workout, but the treadmills aren’t great quality. The rooftop pool is nice but fairly small, so don’t expect a resort-style setup. Front desk and bell service were excellent — friendly, helpful, and professional throughout my stay. One of the real highlights of the hotel is the second-floor restaurant, The Dispatch. The food quality and selection were excellent. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, as well as the lunch and dinner options. The hotel is conveniently located downtown, close to the convention centre and other attractions. That said, one block over near the metro line can feel a bit sketchy, and you do need to stay alert when walking around, especially in the evening. The hotel itself was quiet, not overly crowded, and comfortable — which I appreciated. Overall, I would recommend staying here, particularly for business travel or convention visits, and I’d happily stay again.

Ive stayed at this hotel before with no complaint, so I chose to stay here again after an event for my husband's birthday. Needless to say the experience was not the same as in July. We got in around 8 but the phone in my room didn't work to order room service, we finally got some food and the bread on my sandwich was soggy as mush so I shared my husband's food and tried to watch some TV but that didn't work wither. It acted like an old school antenna cutting in and out but I was too tired to try and get moved to another room so went to sleep. In the am we wanted to go back up to the roof where the pool and stuff is for a nice view of the city but it was 1.5 hrs after it should have been open but still wasnt. Instead of saying for breakfast I just left at that point and I dont think it will be worth returning sadly to say because I love the historical nature of the building.

The staff at this hotel get 5 stars! Everyone from the welcome desk to the dispatch restaurant have been great! The shuttle really made a difference in our trip since we were here for a convention! Special shout out to Marcayla A. at the dispatch who made sure our morning were started right. It’s a tribute hotel so obviously the interiors are a little “aged” but still classy as always

I went to a concert at Daikin Park this weekend and stayed at The Magnolia with my daughter as it was close to Daikin Park. The hotel is nice and clean, courteous; however, the hot water in the shower was really hard to get and the tub was very high and slippery, there is really not much to do downtown on the weekend as everything is closed, there are no little stores in the hotel or around to purchase snacks, water, anything. The hotel was close to the venue but it rained really hard and instead of walking we had to get an Uber for 5 blocks but that was Mother Nature. We were able to walk back to the hotel after the concert. That was good. Downtown really has nothing to offer close to this hotel on the weekend. The tunnels are closed and not many choices for restaurants. The hotel did offer cookies and milk in the lobby at 8 pm and they were delicious. Thank you.

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. I liked the layout of our room. It didn’t feel like a typical hotel room to me. There was a lot of character to the room. The AC didn’t get cold at all so the stay wasn’t very comfortable. The pool area was really cute and the view up there was nice. It was great walking distance from Daikin Park.
