First off, all of the employees were very helpful and polite and we really appreciate it. Other than this, everything else was awful : the rooms smell like mold. The hallways smell like cigarettes. There is NO room service. You can ask for fresh towels at the front desk. The hair dryer didn't work but we were able to get a new one. The shower drips and runs all the time, despite tightening it adequately. Some "fresh towels" had makeup on them... The breakfast - I couldn't eat it.. there were sausages and watery scrambled eggs. The pool area is quite pretty and there are towels available.. however, unclear anyone ever tests the water or cleans the pool or the nearby area?.. some of the drawers in the dresser do not work. The key cars lost their magnetism and I saw other guests also complain about frequently having to get new cards.. the smoke smell in the hallways and the moldy smell in the rooms was probably the worst part. There is a fitness area... No free weights because people stole them. The three machines either don't work or the handles are sticky and falling apart.. in any case unusable.. very unfortunate. Also no wipes available in the "gym".

Location wise it's very convenient. Everything else is a let down. The outside and lobby area is nice. Beyond that point everything is a major let down. Depending on who is working the front desk will allow you to determine the type of service you get. Some are very nice, helpful and friendly and the other will ignore you and that's pretty much that. Rooms are old and it shows. No microwaves or mini fridges in the rooms so don't expect to warm anything up.

I’ve stayed here a few times over the years. Solid rooms, elite breakfast for this price point, and mostly satisfactory cleanliness. I’m writing this review to call out truly great customer service before and after my most recent reservation. The night auditor (who’s name I didn’t get unfortunately) was warm and welcoming and very good at her job. Had I not seen for myself, I never would’ve guessed she performs multiple jobs -very well and with a smile on her face- all by herself… The gentleman who works afternoons (Xander, I believe) is also very friendly and competent. More specifically, he was patient and understanding with me when my pet decided to escape her carrier and hide under the stairwell. Employees like these deserve recognition and praise. In what I’m assuming is a pretty normal day, I saw each of them successfully handle some pretty rude and impatient guests with ease and tact, never losing their positivity and good vibe. Major green flag!

We stayed at this hotel on April 5, 2024 as we were passing through on our way to the eclipse in San Antonio, Texas. The hotel is under complete renovation. We stayed in a king room on the first floor that was completely renovated. It was very nice and clean, and the staff were very kind and helpful. We stopped to talk to a couple people who were literally gutting rooms from ceiling to floor during the renovation process. We have nothing bad to stay about this hotel. If you are looking for an affordable place that fits your budget, this is a good one. The continental breakfast was adequate for this hotel, including waffles. We would stay here again.

As others have opined, La Quinta Inn in the Galleria Area is showing its age. I had a king, non-smoking room on the third floor. The carpeting was stained, several sections of the hallways reeked of stale smoke from rooms where smoking is/was allowed. Overall, there was an odor of pesticide (not unpleasant just unexpected) in the air. That, said, the room itself is well appointed but basic. The linens were clean and the bed was comfortable. I got the relaxing break from my daily grind that I sought. I was also allowed to house my cat in my room for a modest $25.00 fee and no other rigmarole, which was a blessing. To sum up, if you can look past its well-worn exterior, La Quinta is a decent place to stay. I'd stay again.
