Great place and old library type architecture. The lift wait time is real and it takes a lot during busy hours or work hrs the entire day time. Has great restaurant and meals as well as coffee shop in the hotel. Located in heart of the downtown and walkable to all downtown offices and buildings. Rooms are spacious and good to stay

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Houston, and honestly, my experience was a mixed bag. On one hand, the atrium and lobby are genuinely stunning. The atrium gives off a grand, modern feel, and the lobby renovation is clearly recent and done with taste — it feels very “Hyatt.” But then you walk into the rooms, and it’s like someone forgot to renovate them. The decor feels very dated, and the whole vibe leans way more Holiday Inn than a Hyatt Regency. The gym is also tucked away in the basement and feels old, like they haven’t invested in it as much as they did in the public spaces. And the bathrooms — yikes. They feel totally out of place given the classy lobby. Rather than matching the clean, modern design outside, the bathrooms look like they’re stuck in another decade. That contrast is what really frustrated me: the lobby is all Hyatt, with high design and style, but the rooms feel like something from a much cheaper, older chain. It feels like two different hotels under one roof, and not in a charming “retro meets modern” way — more like “they half cared.” On the bright side, the staff are fantastic. Everyone was friendly, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about making your stay as pleasant as possible. Whether I had a question at check-in or needed help during the stay, the team delivered.

Nice location for local attractions, room was clean, and service was fantastic. The 24 hour bagel shop is super convenient, and the bar/restaurant in the lobby is also a nice touch. I had to cut my trip short, leaving in the middle of the night, due to a family emergency back home and Jermaine at the front desk was kind, supportive, and empathetic. The valet service is reasonably priced and another special shout of goes to Joe B, the night shift valet manager, who truly was a light during a really hard time for me. The car was well taken care of and the service was above and beyond. I would certainly recommend this hotel if you are in the area, and I plan to come back again next time I’m in town.

Stayed here for the Houston marathon in January. The walk to George R Brown was only 10 minutes. Very accommodating, staff held onto our bags during the marathon. We kept the car in their garage parking, they did inform us an additional $50 would be charged to the room if we didn’t remove the car by 4PM. Rooms were large but Did have road noise as expected. Only wished their breakfast was available before 7AM so hotel guests can eat before the marathon.

This Hyatt is pretty nice, esp for a Houston Hotel. The lobby is impressive, and its in a quiet area of DT Houston. I saw a lot of airline crew here. The rooms are comfortable, they are about the same as other Hyatt hotels. The rooms aren't soundproof. You can hear others around you. Spindletop is no longer a restaurant or bar, its reserved for private events now. There is only one pool here and its outside, but its just a rectangle. They dont make the pool inviting at all. The pool is heated, but its so boring and uninviting at the pool I didnt bother using it. For parking, if you park offsite, 777 Clay is across the street but its close the $27 overnight. You can find cheaper garages using spothero app but you will have a longer walk. There are no cheap garages around this hotel, you will need to walk a couple blocks. There are tunnels that connect to this hotel but the escalator to the lobby was broken. Most of the entertainment in DT is on the opposite side of DT and north along Main. You are closer to Midtown and Montrose at this hotel which are also good nightlife areas. Overall a very nice Hyatt hotel. I would stay again.
