Housekeeping knocked my $400 retainer onto the floor and swept into the trash. Manager said he would talk to her and get back with me. It’s been 2 weeks now. Mind you I have it recorded where she admitted to sweeping it up and throwing it away. I have the manager cell phone number and have reached out to him numerous times and texted him. No reply yet.

I had a great experience staying at Howard Johnson by Wyndham in Houston Heights! From the moment I checked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and efficient, making the process quick and easy. The room was very clean, well-maintained, and surprisingly spacious. I appreciated the in-room amenities like the microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker, which made my stay even more convenient. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept very well both nights. The location is perfect close to downtown, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and the freeway. The free breakfast was simple but nice perfect for grabbing a quick bite before heading out. Parking was free and easy to access, which is always a plus in the city. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for more from a budget-friendly hotel. Clean, comfortable, safe, and with great service. I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Houston!

### Overpriced Stay with Few Perks The interior of room 111 appears clean and recently renovated. However, the bathroom is relatively small and still needs some upgrades. The floor is quite slippery, though there are grab rails installed for safety. While this inn offers proximity to downtown, making transportation more affordable, the overall experience doesn’t match its price tag. #### Pros: ✅ Convenient location near downtown, which helps reduce Lyft/Uber fares. #### Cons: ❌ Uncomfortable Sofa bed – The king bed was decent, though the pillow may not suit those with neck issues. The sofa bed, however, was old, noisy, and had a rusty frame beneath the mattress. Its worn-out mattress made for an uncomfortable sleep, and extending or closing the bed wasn’t smooth. ❌ Noisy Atmosphere – The A/C units were loud throughout the day, adding to the noise. The inn’s location—right by the Katy Freeway—makes for a naturally noisy environment. Additionally, a man was yelling across the street around midnight**, which was unsettling. ❌ Disappointing Breakfast – The waffle maker was present but lacked waffles, the vending machine dispensed water instead of apple juice, and there was no butter or honey available, making breakfast underwhelming. ### Verdict: While its location is a key advantage, the uncomfortable sleeping arrangements, persistent noise, and lackluster breakfast make it hard to justify the cost. If comfort, peace, and a satisfying morning meal matter, consider looking elsewhere. ### Rating Overview: Cleanliness: 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 7/10 Location: 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 5/10 Management: 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜ 6/10 Breakfast: 🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 4/10 Quietness (Room 111) 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 5/10 King Bed Comfort: 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜ 9/10 Sofa Bed Comfort: 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 2/10 ### **Overall Rating:** 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜⬜ **5.4/10**

Had a good stay at the Howard Johnson in Houston Heights! The room was neat and comfortable, and the AC worked really well, which was a relief in the Texas heat. Staff was friendly and helpful. The motel is conveniently located near some great food spots and downtown. Definitely a solid option for budget-conscious travelers.

First off, when i got there, there were 5-7 men milling about the hotel. In front of rooms and in the parking area and coming and going. I found out later that they were a group of italians that had been staying there for about 3 months. I did not feel safe and it was too late to find another hotel so i just went into the room and stayed there. Late at night i found there was no coffee/tea maker or any coffee tea amenities. No cups either. I had to use my hand when brushing my teeth and rinsing. There was also no hair dryer. In the morning when packing up mine was the only vehicle in the parking lot when last night there were 2 others. Everything was quiet. I needed ice so i took the plastic bag to fill it and then put it in my ice chest. Drove up to the office where the ice machine was and it was completely dry. Didn't look like the machine has worked in a very long time. I went in for the breakfast and, not surprising, there was very little to choose from. They did have weak coffee but no regular sugar. the cereal dispensers were practically empty. They did have muffins. Blech! I got cereal and milk and went looking for a spoon. None! I had to ask for spoons and sugar for the milk. They did have a waffle iron but it was turned off and there was no batter. It was 7 in the morning. I took a picture of the breakfast and the waffle area. Just to be clear: I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. This was a medical trip. Going to MD Anderson.
