Holiday Inn Houston S NRG Area Medical Center

So 5 minutes after I checked in my air conditioner in the room started screeching very very loudly. The hotel was booked solid so no other room was offered. They sent a maintenance tech in who disassembled the air conditioner while I was sitting there watching and sprayed WD-40 on it. How about 2:00 in the morning the screeching started again. I went to the front desk the following morning before I had to head to a local convention I was working and I spoke to the woman there at the counter and forming her that the fan was still screeching. I would be gone for 10 hours and that should be plenty of time to have maintenance repair it. When I got back and asked if maintenance had repaired it the person at the desk had no idea if it was repaired. He told me go and see what happens. The air conditioner was quiet once again until about 2:30 or 3:00 a.m. when once again it started screeching very loudly. I had also wrote a message before I got there to the hotel asking for a quiet room. Not only did I get a screeching air conditioner but the room next to me had four small children. Now while I love kids, four small children screaming and bouncing on the bed until midnight is not ideal either. The hotel agreed to refund me for just one of my nights even though I did not sleep either night. I took plenty of videos with sound of the air conditioner...

MD Anderson recommended this location. It was exactly the right choice from the front desk support to transportation. Monique was cheerful, professional and informative handling check-in and out services as well as transportation arrangements. Our transportation was provided by Pauline. She was also professional, dependable, friendly, accommodating and a very safe driver (an important consideration). Medical trips of this caliber are often emotionally draining. Knowing you can focus on the task at hand and your significant needs are being reliably attended to is huge. Location, nice rooms and particularly staff made this Holiday Inn the perfect choice for us.

Average place to sleep. Don’t think the under bed illumination is cute. Horribly annoying. Turns on by sensor and lights up the dark room better than lamps. Had to unplug so I could sleep. It’s the white plug if you’re interested.

My husband and I were here for the Sorcery Con held at the NRG center. We loved the location for its proximity to great food options, shopping centers and being a walkable distance to the center. This area is not particularly nice but it does have its perks, so be mindful. The hotel staff is kind and accommodating, allowing us to check in about three hours ahead of schedule. The building is older but currently undergoing renovations, so they are making slow changes. There are plenty of scuff markings, notable signs of damage to walls that have been painted over. The walkway near the pool into the parking lot has water that drips down over you from the A/C units. There is discounted breakfast available, but I haven’t paid for hotel breakfast in a few years 🫠 Overall 3.5/5 experience. Once it’s fully renovated, the hotel should make up for the area it’s in, but I also think there needs to be free breakfast ;)

Outstanding! We stayed during a football weekend for medical reasons and even though the top floors were getting renovated the staff were inviting, warm, and friendly. Monica and Liz from the bar were the best and while Pauline who just started as the shuttle driver drove us to every appointment we had even when we ran super late…. Cuz doctors done know how to tell time. Susan always made sure we had hot coffee and a smile when we woke up for breakfast. Stay here and get to know the wonderful staff… your stay will be amazing!
