Hilton Houston Plaza lobby & room was clean. Easy check in but the front desk associates could be a little more pleasurable & welcoming, like smiling/better greeting. At times we smelt the sewar system in the hallway of our room a bit and especially outside on the street of the hotel. It was very inconvenient to have to go from the top floor (19) to the front desk to ask for ice. Also not having a microwave in the room made it inconvenient. Luckly they had a mini fridge. We know that Hilton designed it to be an inconvenience because they want you to buy directly from their restaurant/store area, instead of wanting you to head down to heat up food you might have brought from a store or another restaurant. These inconvenience were designed to sell their restaurant food and store shelf items down in the lobby. Most Hiltons have at least a free hot breakfast but this one does not. Elevators were in and out of commission at times during our stay. Another negative was the bathroom shower. You had to turn on the water all the way over to hot for fifteen minutes before it would get warm enough to get in the shower. Not as easy checkout because on our last day I called to see about getting a late check out and the front desk associate said she didn't have availability for that. But then a minute later said they could do it to 1:30 pm but no later. I'm not sure why she didn't just say that in the first place because that's what I asked. She made me feel like it was a an inconvenience for her. I am thankful she ended up doing it for us. We always leave our room very clean. This hotel was ok, could've been worse, I guess. Customer service should be retrained for most employees at this hotel. Remember fake it to you make it. I overly tip in most cases but this hotel didn't cut it. Now I'll announce our departure even if it's not an airport🤣😉 but we will not be back next year to this location.

This is our second 5 day stay at this hotel, the staff has been great, very polite, caring and professional. They have gone out of their way to assist. The food has been great, maybe too large of a portion at time, but very tasty. Sandra in the restaurant has been pleasure every day. Always cheerful and welcoming as well as efficient. Michele in Starbucks is another very friendly individual who always greated us witha smile. Francisco and Ed in the bar, are the same, both remembered us from each stay a month apart and made us feel comfortable and part of the family. The front desk staff all are great, Shelley and kavaun, greeted us every morning with a smile and a good morning they they are extremely helpful. The same for Jayla, Seymore and Antonio on the afternoon/evening shift all are super friendly, helpful and a pleasure to talk with. They were great at suggesting great places to eat in Rice Village and coordinating the shuttle to take us and pick us help, has been a great stress relief from M D Anderson. I would be remise if I forgot our house keeper on 18, Eugenia was friendly and efficient. If we needed something she got it for us. Both Bars have been a pleasant place to hang out at night, Francisco in the main bar greets us everyday with a smile a wave and a handshake when we go in. MR Ed in the pool bar is the same, easy to talk with, friendly, they both remember our drinks and past food orders. Both are great Bartenders. Another great plus for this Hilton, is if you have an MD Anderson patent ID number, you get a discount on your room, this is a great benefit for those with medical issues, as they have plenty of other things to worry about.

I visited Houston for a week of medical care and stayed at the Hilton Gardens medical center location. The room was fine and the bed was very comfortable. Most impressive was the wait staff and I want to give a shout out to Jaimelit, Michelle and Kevin for exceptional service. They were very personable and attentive. Great all around experience and I highly recommend this hotel.

The room is definitely outdated for the price. The staff is phenomenal. Hilton should be ashamed to overcharge for this dirty, outdated property. Most people staying here are sick and stay for convenience to the medical centers. The floors are dirty, the bathrooms are too small, and the mattresses are worn. You can even see the sink spots in the mattresses before you lay down. The shuttle was also late causing us to miss our appointment time. Hilton do better!

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience regarding the patient parent rate at the Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center. When I called to inquire about the patient parent rate, I was informed that it was not available due to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo taking place. I find it deeply concerning that a hotel located within walking distance of the children’s hospital would not reserve a portion of rooms at the patient rate at all times, regardless of local events. Families seeking medical care do not have the luxury of scheduling surgeries around city events. We accepted the first available surgical date offered to us because her health required it — postponing was not an option. It is disheartening to feel that families dealing with medical situations are being displaced by event pricing. As a result, I am now forced to look into other nearby hotels that will honor the patient rate they advertise. I have consistently chosen Hilton-branded properties when I travel because I value the service and reliability associated with the brand. However, this experience has made me reconsider that loyalty moving forward. I hope you will reconsider how these situations are handled in the future and ensure that families facing medical circumstances are not placed in this position.
