Hilton Garden Inn Houston NW America Plaza

The Mrs and I spent a week in Texas staying at Hilton hotels. This was by far the nicest of those Hiltons save one fact. The shower in our king room would only get warm (I used warm instead of hot cause there was no hot) enough for it to be tolerable long enough to get clean, barely. The room was big and really nice. The bed was super comfortable, but the shower on hot as it would go was barely tolerable, and when I say barely, I was in the shower for as long as it took me to soap up and rinse off as absolutely quickly as I possibly could. Despite all the good, I would NEVER stay here again.

I’ve been staying at this hotel for 10 years with monthly visits for the last 5 years. We have a love -> hate -> love relationship over this time. I started seeing other local hotels for a while there in the middle of our relationship but kept coming back because the proximity to my work makes any other hotel a long commute. My rooms have almost always been clean. I know not to expect daily maid service unless I ask. Service at the restaurant fabulous. Breakfast with Rosario and dinner with the gentleman that’s been working here since I started coming 10 years ago. I am concerned about the safety recently but appreciate the guard and new fence. It’s not the greatest hotel definitely not the cheapest but I can’t justify going anywhere else.

I would not recommend this hotel at all. Hotel is not clean. The hallway on level 7 was dirty and never got cleaned even with housekeeping looking straight at it. Housekeeping never came to our room and I was told they clean every other day. Total for a two night stay is $222 and some change, then they charge a deposit and holding fee for when you check out and that comes out to $372. My card was then charged an additional $114. When I asked about it they said that was a booking fee but out of the group I was with I am the only one that had this charge. Pillows are so flat even folding them won't make them fluffy and the bed is very uncomfortable. The air barely cools the room. I will not be returning here.

The rooms are modern and well‑equipped: Many reviews note the presence of microwaves, mini‑fridges, Keurig machines, large flat‑screens, and decent desk space. Good amenities: Free WiFi, free outdoor parking, an indoor or outdoor pool and a fitness centre are listed. Convenient for business travellers: Located off US 290 and Beltway 8, in a corporate‑office zone. For someone staying in the NW Houston business corridor it’s well placed. Many guests say the staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are generally clean. Example: “Great front desk and room was immaculate… would stay again.

House keeping only visits every other day. Garbage not taken away, coffee pods and water bottles not replenished through a whole 11 day stay. Breakfast wasn't included when it was supposed to be. Even when considering to pay, the breakfast staff (lady at the buffet) was rude so we ate elsewhere. The pool is nice enough, and the rooms very average otherwise. Fairly noisy (outside) next to the 249 highway. Good location, but maybe look for another spot.
