This location has potential. Staff was nice enough and the guys working the kitchen were really quick, but there’s a few issues. 1. I asked for room cleaning once or twice throughout my 5 night stay, they didn’t come once. 2. The gym needs more equipment, equipment cleaning and repair, towels were always out, and cleaning wipes were dried out. 3. Pool looks non-functional, or at least I didn’t want to use it. 4. Undergoing renovations which didn’t bother me, but could have been mentioned pre-arrival. 5. One elevator not working. 6. Generally dirty. The staff could really do with a task checklist to go through once or twice a day.

Severely Disappointed – Misleading & Unacceptable I booked a 3-night stay at Courtyard by Marriott Houston NW/290 Corridor for a business trip, and this was by far one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. At no point during booking, prior to arrival, or even at check-in was I notified that the entire first floor was under construction. The lobby, courtyard, and pool were completely closed. I only found out once I walked in and saw everything covered in plastic, with random construction workers going in and out of the hotel throughout the day. This felt like blatant false advertising. During my entire 3-night stay, room service never once serviced my room—no cleaning, no trash removal, nothing. To avoid going out late in an unfamiliar area, I ordered a burger and fries from the café. It was hands down the worst burger I’ve ever eaten. And that’s saying something—I’m a Navy veteran who’s eaten plenty of Grade D meals. I’d take those any day over the $17 dog food that was served to me here. At $140 per night, and with safety being a major concern—especially as a solo female traveler in this specific area—this experience was completely unacceptable. I expect transparency, basic hospitality, and safety from a Marriott-branded property. Unfortunately, this stay delivered none of those.

Felt threatened by management over a simple Gold Elite upgrade request – will never return I’m a Marriott Gold Elite member. After a very long drive, I politely asked the front-desk agent if a complimentary upgrade to a room with two queen beds was possible (standard Gold benefit when available). Her exact words: “I can’t do that because you already paid for your room.” When I explained that other Marriott properties always accommodate the upgrade when rooms are available, she said, “I don’t know how other hotels do that, but we don’t do it here.” I then asked for her name so I could reference the conversation later. She refused and said, “I can’t give you my name.” That evening, Assistant Manager Rebecca called my room. When I told her I was exhausted from the drive and did not wish to discuss it further, she replied: “If you don’t want to listen to my explanation, then I don’t think it would be good for you to stay on the property.” That statement felt like a direct threat. I was terrified. I was too drained to pack up and move hotels that night, so we stayed, but I barely slept and felt unsafe the entire time. For context: immediately after the call, I checked the Marriott app and two-queen rooms were clearly available for every single night of my stay. Refusing an elite benefit is one thing. Refusing to give a name, is completely unacceptable and made me feel genuinely unsafe on Marriott property. I will never return to this Courtyard and strongly caution other Bonvoy members—especially families—to choose a different hotel in the Houston area. This incident has been reported to Marriott Bonvoy corporate.

Location was perfect for us. Started with no hello or anything just do you have your id. For a hospitality company there is room for improvement. Dirt on sofa bed and ottoman had dog hair. Dirty pillow case with hair on it. Toilet had ring around the toilet and possibly poop streaks. Stains on door and knob was dirty. Organic substance (booger) on wall next to bed. Ended the night on a high note to top it all off. Went to pull out the sofa ed and it wouldn’t come out. Why? Because it was tied down on one side so couldn’t be pulled out. Also no sheets or blanket for sofa bed. It is terrible that a newly remodeled room could be so dirty. Surely won’t last long with such care.

Being as I stayed on the newly renovated floor I would expect the room layout to be better. I’m mostly disappointed with the design of the AC unit pictured below. Terrible design as there is a cabinet built around it and the cold ac that blows out just gets pushed back down to the floor and recirculates. The room never gets below 71 which sucks. The bathroom door is also in a weird spot where it will open right where the toilet is located and is heavy if it hits you it hurts. The floor and room is nice on the eyes but that’s about it. The comfort level is not great.
