We used this stay to be closer to downtown for the better half surgery the next day. The room was clean and ok, but there were some issues. First, under TX law and Houston city ordinance, the room should have not been rented as the smoke detector was not installed. I later found it in the closet. Many people have reported that there is no hot water here and that is not entirely accurate. It is however accurate to say that the water is warm, and the warm water is found with the valve turned barely on and graduated to cold. The other issue with the shower is that it is a step over tub and the side wall grab bar was also missing and there is no seating in the shower. The service desk was cordial and welcoming as well as helpful during our stay. I would want to see the room before returning for another stay.

Great room…Reasonably priced for what I used it for. Hotel attendant wasn’t nosey and seemed chill.

We got 2 rooms. Both rooms had different sheets and different concerns. One room had a full mirror, and the other didn't. The shower was great and the water got hot, which is amazing. I slept on the couch bed, and it was rough. They didn't have any extra blankets, so you would need to ask for extra. I brought my own. In the couch bed, there was a broke lighter and other trash. So the couches aren't usually cleaned, I assume, just the sheets. The room I stayed in had a nice microwave and fridge, but the TV remote was slightly broken. It was best to press the buttons on the TV itself. In the other room, the microwave looked slightly worn. Our room smelled clean and new. The other room smelled clean, but also slightly smelled like cigarettes and dirty sheets?.. I'm not sure why.

My family and I are unfussy travelers who frequent choice hotels properties. We were expecting a clean room and a decent breakfast. This is hands down the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. The woman at the front desk was very kind and polite but she was the only pleasant aspect of our stay. The beds were clean but the linens stained, the toilet needed repairs, parts of light fixtures were missing, the carpet and wallpaper were torn in places, and there was a lot of mildew in the bathroom. We chose this property specifically to get breakfast before we flew out, but the breakfast options are nothing like the pictures. There were Twinkies, white bread with butter, overripe bananas, coffee, oj, and sweet cereal. No hot options at all and everything was full of sugar. With a bit of attention to maintenance and breakfast, this could be a good place to stay.

Hotel smells awful. I stayed here for 3 days while working and I every time I walked into the lobby, it had a very strong marijuana smell. Not the end of world, but then you walk into the room and it has a ridiculously strong cigarette smoke smell, mixed with whatever incense they use to try and cover it up. Hotel is recently remodeled and looks decent, however my room has a very dirty carpet. Clearly wasn’t vacuumed. TV remote was also really sticky. I cleaned it with a wash cloth and it was fine after. The woman that checked me in was extremely nice and professional, however the owner and his wife are the complete opposite. Very rude/cold and not accommodating. The Candlewood is directly behind them and well worth the $20 extra per night. I will never stay here again.
