Staff 10 out of 10. The hotel is undergoing renovations, so all amenities are unavailable. Plumbing questionable at times. The pool is closed, the rooftop bar is closed, i assume the gym at this point and construction starts at 8 am sharp on the 7th floor. The frustration stemmed from the fact that online there is no mention of the amenities not being available. After being woken up at 8 and with two toddlers after a restless baby kept me up needless to say I wasn't happy. I called the lobby and they started working on a solution by giving me the next available room. Again the staff did everything correctly by changing rooms and just being wonderful and so considerate to us. Won't stay while construction is going on, but the hotel is in a great location if you are staying downtown and need to get around you can hop on the metro rail. You are about a block from both the red and the green & purple lines. I can't stress how great the staff has been, this is a historical building so I understand to an extent. I would just find out how much longer until this renovation is complete it's has potential. Can't believe they chose the 4th of July weekend and the World Cup Season to have the rooftop bar closed. Update* the water in the shower in our new room only comes out Hot 🥵

I stayed here for my birthday. It was a very nice hotel. The rooms were nice and clean. The location was very convenient to the Main St Promenade. There is a mini fridge in the room but no microwave. The rooftop was nice though I only visited in the day. There is a bar and lots of seating, though the pool was rather small. There was a 24hr gym on the 10th floor. Nice and convenient. There were towels and water bottles for you to use and drink. Parking is very expensive and I would recommend you to find parking in the area as it will be cheaper and more convenient if you plan to drive around. If you are doing rideshare then no worries. Outside of parking, I would recommend this hotel. Very secure.

I had a wonderful stay at the Aloft Houston Downtown. The central location made it incredibly convenient to explore the city, and the staff was consistently friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and I especially appreciated how spacious the room felt compared to many other properties in the area. I would gladly stay here again!

When you check in, they will excitedly tell you about the rooftop pool and bar/grill that you likely read about on the hotel website before booking. When you attempt to visit this rooftop pool, you will discover that the bar/grill is never actually open, despite having posted hours. It's literally just shuttered. No staff. Bizarre. The lobby bar/grill has awful food. Want a cheeseburger? "We are out of buns, how about a microwaved pizza bagel?" Want a shower? Get ready to really actively manage the water temp, which has two settings: molten lava, and glacier. I have been a business traveler for over 20 years and literally have never encountered a more infuriating shower. That is saying an awful lot, too. The staff are nice, the location is good, and the place appears (but may not actually be) well maintained. But I will not be staying here again unless I absolutely have to.

Make sure you have your key card in hand the whole time cause you can’t move around the hotel without it. The layout of the rooms are impractical if you have more than one person with you. No door to bathroom? Door to shower sticks! Very cramped. Fridge in bathroom? Windows are disgusting! Just leave the shades closed. You can’t log onto your own streaming services. One bed light hums the other flashes. Parking was a nightmare.
