Most people just want to complain so I thought I would give a nice review. My interaction with the management company was excellent! They were quick to respond to my calls and emails. Shannon was very helpful and patient answering all my questions.

I wish I could report that my company’s experience has been great and I am looking for to a productive working relationship with HCMA/Associa. However like many of you, my company’s has experienced the same lack of professionalism. We were contacted by the HOA of , the beautiful Foster Creek Estates to complete a service. We contracted and completed the job on 9/21-23/2024. The Board stated that they were 100% satisfied with the service we provided. Once invoiced for the services, we began to experience inconsistencies from Houston Community Management Association property Manager, Nathaniel Griffin. Mr Griffin’s less than professional attitude toward my company and the service we provide was obvious from the start. We have experienced a complete disregard regarding past due payment from Nathanial, as well Associa that is unbelievably unprofessional. There is an obvious complete breakdown in the company’s operating policies. WITHIN this small timeframe We have been told by Associa that HCMA was mailed the check shortly after the invoice was received. HCMA says that is not a practice of theirs and they have no knowledge of payment. Then we were told the check was mailed from HCMA. (See picture) Today, 10/11/2024 we asked for an update by close of business today. Nathaniel viewed the request as disrespectful and a personal insult….so much so that he hung up in the face of my Accountant. We tried to assure him that to inquire about a past due invoice was standard business practice. We have not received payment or any update regarding the “missing check” as of yet. We have informed the answering service of Associa that escalating the matter will result in additional expenses after today. I am bringing this matter here in hopes that it will gain the attention of the Community Manager Supervisor, Maria Maldonado.

Nothing is ever perfect nor even justifiable, but what makes the difference is the people evaluating the issue. In other words, how they can put themselves in one’s shoes when evaluating a problem without running away. In my experience, Lauryn Mundy has the ability and character to best navigate this tightrope in human relations which no employer can ever train their team as this innate ability can only shine from within, not mirror the pages of a corporate manual. I highly admire Lauryn’s character to maintain a professional and business attitude reminiscent of the past, lacking in the present, and needing more so in the future. She is a valuable asset to any endeavor she chooses to pursue in her professional path working with people regardless of any of the nonsensical decades of experience in the field many corporations want thinking that those decades are a reflection of character traits learned on the job versus in the formative years that eventually shine when given the opportunity.. Finally, I had the opportunity to evaluate Lauryn as described above and while we did not always agree on my problem/issue, much can be said about her ability to answer every call and every email knowing it was me and my issue again and again. As a final note, her supervisor also deserves a note as there is trust and teamwork leading the way.

We had a very concerning experience with Associa (HCMS) while they managed our HOA. Associa had full control over our financial operations, including paying vendors, utilities, and insurance. In February 2025, they issued payments that exceeded the available account balance, which resulted in multiple returned (bounced) payments. These included our insurance premium, a City of Houston water bill, and a vendor payment. These were essential, budgeted expenses, not unexpected costs. Associa confirmed they were responsible for processing the insurance payment. Due to their handling of the account, the payment was returned for insufficient funds, putting our insurance coverage at risk. What was especially concerning is that after this occurred, Associa claimed the HOA was non-compliant for failing to maintain insurance and attempted to terminate the management agreement on that basis. From our perspective, this was not an accurate or fair representation of the situation, as the issue stemmed from how the funds were managed. They also proposed a special assessment to cover the insurance payment, even though it had already been included in the approved budget. We encourage any HOA considering Associa to ask detailed questions about financial controls, oversight, and transparency before moving forward.
