The Houston Rockets play their home games at Toyota Center in downtown Houston. This is our fan's guide to following the team: where to find the schedule, how to watch or listen, and how to plan a night at the arena, from tickets and parking to dinner before tip-off.
Rockets schedule: where to find it
The most reliable source for the Rockets schedule is the team's own official Rockets schedule page. It lists every preseason, regular-season and playoff game with tip-off times, opponents, home or away, and the broadcast for each game. Dates and times can shift, especially for nationally televised games and the playoffs, so check it close to game day rather than relying on a screenshot from months ago.
A few things worth knowing:
- An NBA regular season runs 82 games, half at home, typically from late October into April, with playoffs after that.
- Times on the official page are shown for your device's time zone. Houston is on Central Time.
- Toyota Center's events calendar shows Rockets home games alongside the concerts and other events held at the arena.
How to watch and listen
Rockets games are split between a local broadcaster and the league's national partners, and which one carries a given game is listed on the official schedule.
- Local TV: Games that aren't exclusive to a national network air on Space City Home Network, the regional network owned by the Rockets and Astros. It is carried by local cable and satellite providers and by some live-TV streaming services. Check with your provider before the season starts.
- National TV: A share of each season's games are national broadcasts on the NBA's network and streaming partners. Those games are usually not shown on the local network.
- Radio: The Rockets' long-time radio home is SportsTalk 790 (KBME), part of iHeartMedia's Houston stations, with Spanish-language radio coverage as well. Confirm stations for the current season on the team's site.
Toyota Center
Toyota Center opened downtown in 2003, replacing The Summit (later Compaq Center) on the Southwest Freeway, the Rockets' home for most of the previous three decades. The arena is at 1510 Polk Street, on the east side of downtown, a short walk from EaDo and a few blocks south of the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Before you go, read the arena's plan your visit page. It covers the bag policy (small bags only, all bags searched), entrances, and box office hours, which have changed during renovations. Policies change, so check it before every visit, not once a season.
Tickets
Start with the official Rockets tickets page, which covers single-game tickets, season memberships and group packages. Buying from the team or its official partners is the safest way to avoid counterfeit or duplicate tickets.
Some practical advice: weeknight games against non-marquee opponents are usually the easiest and cheapest to get into, while national-TV games, rivalry nights and playoff games sell out quickly.
Getting there and parking
Toyota Center sits in the middle of downtown's garage network, so driving is straightforward if you leave time for traffic on I-45, I-69 and the downtown exits.
- Arena garage: The Toyota Tundra Garage at 1515 Jackson Street connects to the arena. It fills on big nights, so pre-pay if the team offers it.
- Downtown garages and street parking: Plenty of options sit within walking distance. Our downtown Houston parking guide breaks down garages, meters and event-day rates.
- METRORail: METRO says the arena is about a half-mile walk from Convention District Station (Green and Purple lines) and from Bell Station (Red Line). Several local bus routes also stop nearby. See our METRO Houston guide for fares and how the lines connect.
- Rideshare: Expect surge pricing and slow pick-ups right after the final buzzer. Walking a few blocks away from the arena before you request a ride helps.
Food and drinks nearby
The arena has its own concessions, but eating beforehand gives you more choice. Downtown restaurants and bars are within a few blocks, and EaDo's breweries and casual spots are just east across the freeway. Start with our guides to the best restaurants in downtown Houston and the best restaurants in EaDo. Restaurants near the arena get busy in the two hours before tip-off, so book ahead on big nights.

A brief Rockets history
The franchise joined the NBA in 1967 as the San Diego Rockets and moved to Houston in 1971. Early Houston teams featured future Hall of Famers Elvin Hayes, a University of Houston star, and Calvin Murphy.
The defining era came in the mid-1990s, when Hakeem Olajuwon led the Rockets to back-to-back NBA championships in 1994 and 1995, both won while the team played at The Summit. The 2000s brought Yao Ming, whose arrival made the Rockets a global brand and coincided with the move to Toyota Center. Read where the big man ended up in our story on Yao Ming's life after the NBA.
