Houston's Major League Soccer team is Houston Dynamo FC, and it plays at Shell Energy Stadium in East Downtown (EaDo). The stadium is also home to the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), so you can catch top-flight men's and women's pro soccer at the same address. Here's how to follow both teams and plan a matchday.
Dynamo and Dash schedules
The official schedules are the only ones worth trusting, because kickoff times and dates can move for broadcast or weather:
- Houston Dynamo FC schedule
- Houston Dash schedule
- Full MLS schedule, for every match in the league
The MLS regular season typically runs from late winter into the fall, followed by the MLS Cup Playoffs. The NWSL runs on its own calendar, so check both schedules if you want to see the two teams.
How to watch
Starting with the 2026 season, every MLS match, Dynamo games included, streams on Apple TV for subscribers, with no separate MLS Season Pass and no local blackouts. NWSL broadcasts are split across several national partners, and the Dash schedule lists where each match is shown.
Shell Energy Stadium
Shell Energy Stadium is at 2200 Texas Avenue, on the east edge of downtown in EaDo. It opened in May 2012 as BBVA Compass Stadium, replacing the Dynamo's first home at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium, and it has carried the Shell Energy Stadium name since 2023. It's an open-air, soccer-specific stadium, so dress for the weather: summer evenings are hot, and a sudden storm can bring a delay.
Know these rules before you leave the house (from the club's stadium A-to-Z guide, which is worth a full read):
- Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff for Dynamo matches and 60 minutes before for Dash matches.
- Bags must be clear and no larger than 12 x 12 x 6 inches.
- Cashless: cards and mobile pay only.
- Tickets are fully digital, so have them on your phone before you reach the gate.
Tickets
Buy through the official Dynamo tickets page or Dash tickets page, which cover single matches, season tickets and group packages. Our tip: a Dash match makes a relaxed, family-friendly first visit to the stadium.
Supporters' culture
The loudest part of the stadium is the north end, where sections 115–116 and 215–217 are the designated supporters' section, home to the Hustle Town Supporters collective of fan groups. Expect standing for 90 minutes, drums, flags, chants in English and Spanish, and tifo displays on big nights. If you want that atmosphere, buy in those sections. If you'd rather sit and watch, choose seats along the sidelines.
Wearing orange is the easiest way to fit in. Orange is the club's signature color, and you'll see it all over the supporters' end.
Getting there
Public transport is the simplest option. The METRORail Green and Purple lines both stop at EaDo/Stadium Station, right by the stadium's north side. From the Red Line, transfer downtown at Central Station and ride east. The 500 Downtown Direct Park & Ride bus also serves the stadium. Details are on METRO's Shell Energy Stadium page, and our METRO Houston guide explains fares and lines.
If you're using rideshare, the stadium recommends drop-off and pick-up at the corner of Walker Street and Hutchins Street.
Parking
On-site parking is limited. On matchdays the stadium lots are run by the Astros' parking management, which sets prices and availability, so pre-purchase when it's offered. Otherwise, there are plenty of downtown garages within walking distance. See our downtown Houston parking guide.
Food and drinks nearby
EaDo is a great neighborhood for a pre-match meal or drink, with breweries, bars and casual restaurants within a few blocks of the stadium. A short history
The Dynamo began play in 2006 and won the MLS Cup in each of their first two seasons, 2006 and 2007, beating the New England Revolution in both finals. They have also won the U.S. Open Cup twice, in 2018 and 2023. The Dash joined the NWSL in 2014 and won the club's first trophy, the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.
