- Restaurants Near Reliant Stadium (NRG): A Game-Day Dining Guide
The best restaurants near Reliant Stadium — Houston’s event complex formerly named NRG Park — divide into two groups: several Houston institutions on Kirby Drive and S Loop West within a mile of the gates, and a set of concession stands inside the stadium that bring real Houston restaurant brands to Texans game days and Rodeo nights. Parking at Reliant runs $25–$40 per event; if you take the METRORail Red Line to Stadium Park/Astrodome station, Pappasito’s and Pappadeaux are both about a 10-minute walk from the stop.
Reliant Park is the official name as of August 2026, replacing NRG. Most GPS apps and maps still show NRG, which is how many people still search for it — this guide uses both.
How we chose
Each restaurant was confirmed as currently open on its official website, confirmed in October 2026. The three in-stadium concessions are confirmed on the Texans’ official dining listings for the 2026 season. We excluded chain restaurants with no Houston identity and vendors open only during a single event.
Closest to Reliant’s gates
Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken
Kirby Drive, directly across from the NRG complex — 8110 Kirby Dr
This is the closest sit-down restaurant to Reliant Park: cross Kirby Drive from the complex and you are there. Memphis-style spicy fried chicken with a reddish, cayenne-forward crust, served at a counter. The setup is fast — order, get a number, pick up your tray. Sides include baked beans, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. Walk-in only, no reservations.
What to order: spicy fried chicken, mac and cheese, sweet tea.
Insider tip: counter service moves faster than the line looks. Arrive 90 minutes before kickoff rather than 45 — the line grows quickly once tailgate lots fill.

Pappasito’s Cantina
S Loop West — 2515 S Loop W, less than 1 mile from Reliant
Pappasito’s is the quintessential Houston pre-game Tex-Mex stop. Beef or chicken fajitas arrive sizzling on an iron skillet, the scratch-made tableside guacamole is a ritual, and the margaritas are enormous. The restaurant takes reservations, which matters on game days when walk-in waits stretch past an hour. A stadium crowd in Texans gear filling this dining room is as close to a pre-game tradition as Houston gets outside the gates.
What to order: beef fajitas, tableside guacamole, frozen margarita.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen
S Loop West — 2525 S Loop W, next door to Pappasito’s
Pappasito’s and Pappadeaux share the same block on S Loop West, less than a mile from Reliant’s gates. You can walk between them in two minutes and make a game-time call between Tex-Mex and Gulf seafood. Pappadeaux’s crawfish étouffée, blackened redfish, and stuffed shrimp are Houston staples, and the dining room handles large groups. Reservations are essential on event nights.
Best for: a bigger occasion — a playoff game, Rodeo opening night, or a group with mixed Tex-Mex opinions. Our best seafood restaurants in Houston guide has more context on where Pappadeaux fits in the city’s seafood scene.

The Kirby Drive cluster
The most surprising fact about the neighborhood around Reliant: three Goode Co. restaurants sit within 0.3 miles of each other on Kirby Drive, about 1.5 miles from the gates. Jim Goode opened the BBQ joint in 1977; the taqueria next door starts breakfast tacos at 7am on Fridays; and the Armadillo Palace down the block is a live-music honky-tonk. You can walk all three without moving your car, though you should not walk home afterward.
Goode Co. Barbeque
Upper Kirby — 5109 Kirby Dr
Jim Goode opened this place in 1977 and put a sign out front that reads “I will feed your ass.” The menu has not changed much. Mesquite-smoked brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, campfire beans, coleslaw, and banana pudding served cafeteria-style from a tray line. It is fast, filling, and the best pre-game BBQ stop near Reliant. Our best BBQ in Houston guide has the wider context.
Hours: typically Sun–Thu 11am–8:30pm, Fri–Sat 11am–9pm. Confirm at goodecompany.com before driving.
Goode Co. Taqueria
Upper Kirby — 4902 Kirby Dr
The taqueria is the option to reach for Houston Rodeo mornings. It opens at 7am on Fridays and 8am on Saturdays and Sundays — one of the only sit-down breakfast options near Reliant for an early Rodeo day. Breakfast tacos, tamales, and enchiladas are affordable and fast. Nothing else on this list is useful before a 9am Rodeo gate opening.

Goode Co. Armadillo Palace
Upper Kirby — 5015 Kirby Dr
A live-music honky-tonk with Texas comfort food and cold beer. The Armadillo Palace is the most fun option on this list — a large Texas bar with a stage and a menu built for a long night. The catch: closed Sundays and Mondays, which rules it out for most Texans home games (typically Sunday afternoons). It is a strong post-Rodeo or post-concert pick on nights when you want to keep going.

What’s inside Reliant on game and event days
Three Houston restaurant brands run concession stands inside Reliant Stadium during Texans games, the Houston Rodeo, concerts, and other events. These are real menus, not generic stadium fare.
Truth BBQ — Sections 109 and 129
Truth BBQ is one of Houston’s most recognized BBQ operations, and its stadium stand brings the same brisket in. The chopped beef sandwich and brisket nachos are the practical game-day choices. The standalone restaurant is in The Heights at 110 S Heights Blvd if you want a sit-down visit before the gates open: truthbbq.com. It is closed Mondays.
What to order: chopped beef sandwich, BBQ brisket nachos, banana pudding.
Trill Burgers — Sections 115, 135, 520, and 548
Bun B’s Houston smash burger brand is now inside the stadium. The OG combo — cheesy beef smashburger, special sauce, grilled onions, fries — is the move. Lines move quickly. The Montrose standalone is the full-table version if you prefer to eat before arriving. Trill Burgers guide here.
What to order: OG combo.
El Tiempo Cantina — Sections 118, 138, 501, and 527
El Tiempo is a Houston Tex-Mex institution, and its stadium stand serves chips and queso, sizzling fajita tacos, loaded nachos, and frozen margaritas. It consistently draws the longest lines in the stadium. El Tiempo has multiple standalone Houston locations if you prefer to eat before arriving and skip the wait. eltiempocantina.com
What to order: queso with chips, fajita tacos, frozen margarita.
Skip the parking lot: take the Red Line
The METRORail Red Line stops at Stadium Park/Astrodome station, about a 10-minute walk from Reliant’s north gates. Pappasito’s and Pappadeaux are about a 10-minute walk from the station in the opposite direction on S Loop West. Event parking at Reliant costs $25–$40; a single Red Line ride from downtown is $1.25 each way.
If you want to eat along the Medical Center corridor before or after an event, the Texas Medical Center restaurant guide covers that area — the TMC Transit Center stop is one stop north of Stadium Park/Astrodome. For a full look at every Houston sports venue, see our Reliant Stadium visitor guide.
