Best Seafood in League City, TX: Gulf Oysters, Crawfish and Fish

Date Published

Seafood League City illustration: crawfish boil pot, Gulf oysters and a marina sailboat at night

The best seafood in League City, TX comes from eight places inside the city limits: Opus Bistro & Steakhouse for Gulf oysters by the South Shore Harbour marina, Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar for gumbo and po'boys on FM 646, MichiRu Seafood for upscale Gulf fish on I-45, and Crafty Crab or TX Crawfish Seafood & Pho for a hands-on crawfish boil. Every pick has a League City address and was checked as open on its own official website.

You don't have to drive to Kemah or Galveston for good seafood: one League City spot started in 1998 on the Galveston Seawall, in houses saved from demolition, and another lost its Kemah home to Hurricane Harvey before reopening on League City's waterfront. The coast came to League City.

The quick list

  • For Gulf oysters with a marina view: Opus Bistro & Steakhouse at South Shore Harbour Resort.
  • For gumbo and an oyster po'boy: Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar on West FM 646.
  • For a dress-up seafood dinner: MichiRu Seafood on the Gulf Freeway.
  • For a crawfish boil you eat with your hands: Crafty Crab or TX Crawfish Seafood & Pho, both on I-45.
  • For fried Gulf shrimp with the kids: The Spot, which has a kids' lawn.
  • For Creole shrimp and grits in the historic district: Main St Bistro on Perkins Avenue.
  • For Cajun seafood to take home: Hap's Cajun Meats & Market on East Main Street.

How we chose

We kept this list strictly inside League City. That means a League City street address, from the historic district on Main Street (FM 518) to the I-45 corridor, FM 646 and South Shore Harbour on Clear Lake. Places in Kemah, Webster, Clear Lake Shores, Dickinson and Seabrook didn't count, even the famous ones a few minutes away. The ZIP code 77565 is shared with Kemah and Clear Lake Shores, so we went by the city on the address, not the ZIP.

Each pick had to make seafood a centerpiece (oysters, crawfish, Gulf shrimp or Gulf fish) and show current hours or a menu on its own official website in November 2026. Hours change, so check the restaurant's site before you go.

Where can I get Gulf oysters in League City?

Opus Bistro & Steakhouse and Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar both list Gulf oysters by name on their menus, raw on the half shell or grilled.

Opus Bistro & Steakhouse

South Shore Harbour Resort, 2500 South Shore Blvd., League City · New Orleans-style French and seafood · dinner nightly

Opus Bistro & Steakhouse sits inside South Shore Harbour Resort, above the pool and overlooking the marina. Its story is a Gulf Coast one: Opus started in Kemah, closed after Hurricane Harvey in 2017, and returned in 2019 at South Shore Harbour, according to the restaurant.

The menu has a section called Gulf Oysters: on the half shell, or grilled with lemon garlic butter, Parmesan, bacon and fresh jalapeños. Fried Gulf oysters sit under Fried Seafood. For a main course, order the Snapper Charlie Brown, Gulf red snapper in an Italian breading with mushrooms, artichoke hearts and a white wine lemon butter. The Opus Pasta, with scallops, Gulf shrimp and jumbo lump crab, is the dish the restaurant calls its signature.

The bar typically opens at 4 p.m. and the dining room at 5 p.m. A rooftop deck handles private events. Official site

Best for: an anniversary dinner or out-of-town guests who want a water view.

Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar

West League City, 1615 West FM 646 · Cajun and Gulf seafood · open daily

Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar comes from the Galveston Restaurant Group, which dates to 1997, and it cooks its gumbos and stews in steam kettles. The menu has a full Gulf Oyster Bar: oysters on the half shell, char-grilled oysters with garlic butter and Romano, and BBQ Oysters, dry-rubbed Gulf oysters served with blue cheese dressing.

The gumbo comes in a 16-ounce Lil' Daddy or a 32-ounce Big Daddy. The showpiece is the Mumbo Gumbo, with Gulf shrimp, crab, oyster, chicken, sausage and prime rib. The 10-inch po'boys include crawfish tail, Gulf shrimp, grilled oyster and a BBQ-seasoned oyster version.

Good to know: the menu says all of its gumbo is seafood-based, chicken and sausage included, so tell your server about shellfish allergies. Hours typically run 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with happy hour on weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. Official site

Best for: a gumbo fix and a dozen oysters on a weeknight.

Where can I eat crawfish in League City?

For boiled crawfish by the pound, go to Crafty Crab or TX Crawfish Seafood & Pho on the Gulf Freeway. Little Daddy's and The Spot cook crawfish into étouffée, po'boys and sauces instead. Crawfish is seasonal, so check availability before you go. Our Houston crawfish guide explains the season and the Viet-Cajun style.

Crafty Crab

North I-45, 112 Gulf Fwy N. · Cajun seafood boil · typically noon to 10 p.m.

Crafty Crab describes its boil as New Orleans-style low country cooking, and it makes its own seasoning. Order crawfish by the pound, or go big with a daily special such as 3 pounds of crawfish with corn, potatoes and eggs. Snow crab, king crab legs, headless shrimp and mussels are also on the menu.

Insider tip: Crafty Crab steams its oysters and then tosses them in one of its seasonings, a good way to bring along someone who won't eat them raw. Dine-in ends 45 minutes before closing, so don't roll in at 9:30 p.m. Official site

Best for: a messy, bib-and-gloves boil with friends.

TX Crawfish Seafood & Pho

South I-45, 2925 Gulf Fwy S., Suite F · Cajun boils and pho · closed Mondays

TX Crawfish Seafood & Pho is a build-your-own boil: pick your seafood, choose a flavor and set the heat. The TX Combo is the order for two: 2 pounds of crawfish, a snow crab cluster and a pound of whole shrimp with corn and potatoes. The restaurant also serves fried platters and po'boys, and it now has a pho menu, so a bowl of noodle soup can follow the boil.

Good to know: all seafood is market price, so call 281-672-0888 for current pricing. The restaurant runs crawfish specials on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It typically opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday to Sunday. Official site

Best for: a crawfish night on a budget, early in the week.

Where to go for a sit-down seafood dinner

MichiRu Seafood on the Gulf Freeway is our pick for a dress-up seafood dinner. Main St Bistro is the pick if you'd rather eat in the historic district.

MichiRu Seafood

I-45, 2490 Gulf Fwy S. · modern American seafood · dinner nightly, lunch on weekends

MichiRu Seafood (opened in 2023 as MiRu Seafood) comes from the team behind MichiRu Sushi, and it calls itself an upscale haven for modern American seafood made with sushi-grade fish. The Gulf is well represented: the Curry Red Snapper is fried Gulf snapper with red curry, scallops and shrimp, and the redfish comes with lobster brown butter, crab and shrimp. Snow crab claws in lobster lemon butter and a jumbo lump blue crab cake round out the shellfish.

The "I didn't know that": MichiRu's raw oysters aren't Gulf oysters at all. The menu lists live oysters from Prince Edward Island in Canada, and the Oyster Shooter pairs one with sake. For Gulf oysters, go to Opus or Little Daddy's.

Hours typically run 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Official site

Best for: date night without the drive into Houston.

Main St Bistro

Historic district, 100 Perkins Ave. · Creole and coastal · brunch Friday to Sunday

Main St Bistro has cooked in League City's Old Historic District since 2012, mixing Creole, coastal and Hispanic influences with French technique. Seafood sits on its own Steak and Seafood section of the menu, and the restaurant singles out its shrimp and grits. It opens at 9 a.m. Friday to Sunday, which makes it the easiest place in town for a seafood brunch, and it typically closes at 3 p.m. on Mondays.

Good to know: kids eat free on Tuesdays, and happy hour typically runs Tuesday to Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Official site

Best for: shrimp and grits before a stroll through Old League City.

Casual seafood and takeout

The Spot

I-45, 2502 Gulf Fwy S. · fried seafood, tacos and po'boys · open daily

The Spot opened its League City location in 2023, but the brand began in 1998 on the Galveston Seawall, where its founders turned three houses due for demolition into a restaurant, according to The Spot. The League City location has a kids' lawn with games.

The menu leans on Gulf shrimp: Jumbo Fried Shrimp (eight jumbo Gulf shrimp), coconut Gulf shrimp with pineapple-mango salsa, and Uncle Bill's Famous Shrimp Po-Boy. For something less fried, order the blackened redfish with a Cajun crawfish sauce, or the blackened redfish tacos.

Insider tip: happy hour typically runs weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m., and it includes a plate of eight diablo grilled shrimp. Hours typically run 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Official site

Best for: families, and anyone who wants a seafood platter and a frozen margarita.

Hap's Cajun Meats & Market

Historic district, 902 E. Main St. · Cajun market and kitchen · closed Sundays and Mondays

Hap's is a Cajun market rather than a seafood restaurant, but it's the place to stock up. Visit League City lists étouffée, gumbo and seafood-stuffed pies alongside boudin and andouille, plus products made in Louisiana. Hap's own site lists po'boys and a hot box. It's typically open Tuesday to Saturday. Official site

Best for: taking a Cajun dinner home.

Save this: a League City seafood day

  1. Brunch: shrimp and grits at Main St Bistro, then a walk around the historic district.
  2. Pick up dinner supplies: seafood-stuffed pies and gumbo at Hap's Cajun Meats & Market on East Main.
  3. Happy hour: a dozen Gulf oysters at Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar on FM 646, weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m.
  4. Dinner, pick one: a crawfish boil at Crafty Crab or TX Crawfish, or Gulf snapper at MichiRu Seafood.
  5. Nightcap with a view: a drink at the Opus bar overlooking the South Shore Harbour marina.

Before you go: a crawfish and oyster checklist

  • Check crawfish season and the price first. TX Crawfish prices all seafood at market rate, so call ahead.
  • Know your oyster. Opus and Little Daddy's list Gulf oysters; MichiRu's raw oysters come from Prince Edward Island.
  • Plan around Mondays. TX Crawfish and Hap's are closed Mondays, and Main St Bistro closes mid-afternoon.
  • Mention shellfish allergies. Every gumbo at Little Daddy's is seafood-based.
  • Dress for the boil. Wear something washable at Crafty Crab and TX Crawfish.
  • Arrive early for dine-in. Crafty Crab stops seating 45 minutes before close.
