Best Seafood in Cypress, TX: Gulf Boils, Oysters and More

Date Published

Crawfish, oyster shells and Gulf boil pot against Houston skyline at night, seafood Cypress TX

The best seafood in Cypress, TX runs along two main corridors: the US-290 frontage near Hempstead Road in the south, and the Barker Cypress-to-Telge strip cutting through 77433. You can get traditional Louisiana crawfish, Viet-Cajun garlic-butter boil bags, Southern fried catfish, or a plate of seared scallops in a full sit-down dining room — all within about eight miles of each other.

For this guide we define Cypress as the area bounded by US-290 on the south, Barker Cypress Road on the east, Mueschke and Telge roads on the west, and FM 1960 on the north — ZIP codes 77429 and 77433, including Bridgeland and Towne Lake.

How we chose

Each restaurant on this list was confirmed open via its official website or official social page, with a verified address inside those boundaries. We focused on Gulf seafood: crawfish, oysters, shrimp, catfish, crab, and scallops. Spots we could not independently confirm as currently open were left out regardless of their review count.

Hours change, especially at smaller boil shops. Treat every schedule below as approximate and check the restaurant's own page before you go.

The two styles of crawfish in Cypress

Almost every boil house in Cypress follows one of two traditions.

Louisiana style is the original: crawfish boiled in seasoned water — crab boil, cayenne, salt — then soaked until the spice penetrates the shell. You taste the seasoning the moment you peel. Acadiana Seafood on Mueschke Road is the go-to for this approach in Cypress.

Viet-Cajun style is what Houston invented. Vietnamese-American restaurateurs on the Gulf Coast developed the technique in the early 2000s: crawfish tossed in garlic butter or a spiced butter sauce right out of the boil, then sealed in a bag to steam and marinate. The sauce coats every piece. Crawfish Cafe, BB's Tex-Orleans, HotSpot, Krab Kingz, and Asian & Mini's all do this. It is now the dominant style in Houston and spreading nationally.

The two styles are not interchangeable. If you have tried one but not the other, try both during the same afternoon.

The one thing that surprised us about Cypress seafood

Acadiana Seafood on Mueschke Road still does it the old way — strict Louisiana style, no fusion, no garlic butter options. In a corridor where nearly every boil house went Viet-Cajun after 2013, finding a holdout that boils crawfish by the pound the Lafayette way, on weekends only, at the western edge of Cypress, is genuinely uncommon. Plan ahead: Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and Sundays only.

The picks

Crawfish Cafe

24330 US-290 Ste 500, Cypress TX 77429 · open daily 11 am–10 pm

Crawfish Cafe opened this location in 2013. The Smack Pack lets you choose your protein — crawfish, snow crab, shrimp, or clams — and your sauce: garlic butter, Cajun, or a blend. Garlic noodles are the standard side. Weekend waits are real during crawfish season, roughly February through June. For the origin story of this style, see our Houston crawfish guide.

Order: Smack Pack crawfish in garlic butter, garlic noodles.

BB's Tex-Orleans

26010 Hempstead Rd, Cypress TX 77429 · open daily 11 am–10 pm

BB's is the most complete Cajun restaurant in Cypress: sit-down tables, a build-your-own boil bar, an outdoor patio, and game-day TVs. The 5 Pound Mound — seasoned crawfish with corn and potatoes — is the group order. For a plate, try Mama B's Famous Shrimp & Grits (grilled jumbo shrimp, andouille cream sauce, cheese grits) or the Morgan City Pasta, a Cajun fettuccine with shrimp and crawfish tails. Daily specials include $5 frozen cocktails on Mondays and kids eat free on Tuesdays.

Order: 5 Pound Mound crawfish, Mama B's Shrimp & Grits.

Fish & Chicks

7955 Barker Cypress Rd Ste 200, Cypress TX 77433 · Sun–Thu 11 am–9 pm, Fri–Sat 11 am–10 pm

Southern fried seafood with a Louisiana accent: hand-battered catfish, fried shrimp, boudin balls, and a gumbo that starts with a real roux. Platters come with hushpuppies. Order at the counter. The boudin balls are the right starter while the catfish platter fries.

Order: Catfish platter, boudin balls, gumbo.

HotSpot Cajun Seafood House

7955 Barker Cypress Rd Ste 600, Cypress TX 77433 · Wed–Thu 3–8:30 pm, Fri 3–9:30 pm, Sat–Sun noon–9:30 pm

HotSpot shares the same shopping center as Fish & Chicks, which makes it easy to split a group between fried platters and boil bags. The house garlic butter sauce is the signature; order crab clusters or shrimp bags. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Order: Crab cluster bag in garlic butter, shrimp bag.

Asian & Mini's Seafood

12640 Telge Rd Ste A, Cypress TX 77429 · Mon–Sat 11 am–8 pm, Sun noon–8 pm

The menu here is broader than most: Cajun boil combos, gumbo soup, tom yum, fried rice, and fried alligator alongside the standard shrimp and crab bags. The alligator is the wild-card order worth trying at least once.

Order: Cajun boil combo, fried alligator.

Krab Kingz

12640 Telge Rd Suite D, Cypress TX 77429 · Thu–Sat noon–8:45 pm, Sun noon–7:45 pm

The Black-owned boil shop in the same Telge Road cluster as Asian & Mini's. The King Combo stacks lobster, snow crab clusters, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes in a house garlic butter sauce. Closed Monday through Wednesday.

Order: King Combo (lobster, crab, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes).

Acadiana Seafood

16823 Mueschke Rd, Cypress TX 77433 · Fri 3:30–7 pm, Sat noon–7 pm, Sun noon–5 pm

Weekend only, no fusion. Acadiana boils crawfish the Lafayette way — a seasoned water bath and a proper soak, no garlic butter, no sauce variations. Live crawfish priced by the pound, boiled shrimp, and fish tacos. A drive-through option makes a to-go pound easy on a Saturday errand run. If you want to taste the style that predates Viet-Cajun in this corridor, this is it.

Order: Crawfish by the pound (Louisiana style), boiled shrimp.

Dario's Steakhouse & Seafood

14315 Cypress Rosehill Rd #162, Cypress TX 77429 · Mon–Thu 11 am–9 pm, Fri–Sat 11 am–10 pm, Sun 11 am–8 pm

The date-night pick in Cypress. Dario's pairs premium Angus cuts with fresh Gulf seafood — seared scallops, lobster tail, and Gulf shrimp — in a full sit-down dining room with OpenTable reservations. It is the place for a proper seafood dinner when a boil bag is not the occasion.

Order: Seared scallops, lobster tail.

Save this: a Cypress seafood route

Three stops, three styles, one afternoon.

  1. Acadiana Seafood (Mueschke Rd, Fri–Sun): a pound of Louisiana crawfish, no sauce, just the soak. Plan this first because the hours are the tightest.
  2. Crawfish Cafe (US-290): the Smack Pack in garlic butter. This is the Houston innovation that helped spread Viet-Cajun cooking nationally.
  3. Dario's Steakhouse & Seafood (Cypress Rosehill Rd): a proper sit-down finish — seared scallops or Gulf shrimp in a full dining room, no boil bag required.

Never drive between restaurants after drinking. Rideshare or designate a driver.
