Date Published

Illustrated lakeside deck with umbrellas, string lights, pines and a dog, for patio restaurants and bars Kingwood

The best patio restaurants and bars in Kingwood, TX cluster in two places: Kings Harbor Waterfront Village on Lake Houston, where four restaurants have outdoor or terrace seating facing the water, and the Kingwood Drive and Loop 494 corridor, home to a 30-tap beer garden and a dog-friendly brewery. Our eight picks are Sharky's Waterfront Grill, Raffa's Waterfront Grill, Zammitti's Italian Ristorante, Chimichurri's South American Grill, Megaton Brewery, The Cove Craft Beer and Wine, Flying Biscuit Café and Hacienda Los Arcos. Each one was confirmed open, with outdoor seating, on its own official site or its landlord's.

Here's the hook worth sharing: Kings Harbor describes itself as the only commercial development in the Kingwood and Atascocita market located directly on Lake Houston. Want dinner with a lake view in Kingwood? Head to this one 20-acre village.

How do we define Kingwood?

For this guide, Kingwood means the master-planned community in northeast Houston that sits between US 59 (I-69) on the west and Lake Houston on the east, with the West Fork of the San Jacinto River along its southern edge. Addresses are typically in the 77339 and 77345 ZIP codes. We left out Humble and Atascocita, which have their own guides, even where a restaurant is a short drive away.

How we chose

Every pick has outdoor seating that the business itself (or, for Kings Harbor tenants, the village's official site) describes: a patio, a terrace or a beer garden. Each one showed current hours on an official page in November 2026. We call a place dog-friendly only when its own website says dogs are welcome, and only one Kingwood pick does. Hours change, so treat every schedule here as typical and check the official site before you go.

We left out several popular Kingwood spots whose outdoor seating we couldn't confirm on an official page. Our Kingwood bars guide covers more of them.

Sharky's Waterfront Grill

Kings Harbor, 1660 W. Lake Houston Pkwy., Suite 104 · seafood, burgers and tacos · typically open daily for lunch and dinner

Sharky's Waterfront Grill in Kingwood lists an open and an enclosed patio on its official site, so it's the easiest lakeside table to count on when the weather turns.

Order: the Shark Bites, which are shrimp stuffed with pepper jack, wrapped in bacon and lightly fried, then the Cabo fish tacos. Sharky's own story page dares you to try the Great White Shark Burger.

Good to know: Sunday brunch typically runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids get a Build a Shark dessert. Reservations are recommended on busy evenings, according to the Kings Harbor listing.

Best for: families and out-of-town guests who want to see the lake.

Raffa's Waterfront Grill

Raffa's Waterfront Grill has two patios for outdoor dining, according to its Kings Harbor listing, which makes it the pick for a long weekend lunch by the water. Inside there's a small wine room that seats 10, if the weather won't cooperate.

I didn't know that: the family behind Raffa's has also run Amedeo's Italian Restaurant in Kingwood since 1985, according to Kings Harbor.

Order: Sunday brunch, which the listing calls the meal most popular with locals. It typically runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekday service is usually dinner only, from 5 p.m.

Zammitti's Italian Ristorante

Order: calamari fritti or mozzarella fritta to start, then pizza or pasta. The Kings Harbor site has promoted a Wednesday wine night at Zammitti's with live music; check the calendar before you go.

Insider tip: read the Our Story page on Zammitti's website before dinner. It's a cheerfully tall tale, and the restaurant admits that some of its facts are not facts at all.

Order: the Empanadas Don Pedro, an Argentine-style pastry with chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetables, and a steak with the house chimichurri. The restaurant also holds a monthly wine dinner.

Know before you go: Chimichurri's posts a dress code on its website. Lunch is typically Tuesday to Friday; Saturday and Sunday are dinner only.

Where can you take your dog to a patio in Kingwood?

Megaton Brewery is the one Kingwood pick whose official website says dogs are welcome. Other patios may allow leashed dogs, but none of them publish a policy, so call first.

Megaton Brewery

808 Russell Palmer Rd., Kingwood · brewery and taproom · typically Wednesday to Sunday

Megaton Brewery's FAQ says it loves having friendly dogs and service animals around the brewery because they're like family members. There's a patio outside the taproom, and inside, a theme inspired by video games and atomic-era culture, with arcade games, pool, air hockey, cornhole, giant Jenga, checkers and chess.

I didn't know that: Megaton started as a production brewery. It bought its property in September 2016 and added the full-service taproom in January 2017, brewing on a 15-barrel brewhouse on site.

Good to know: the brewery says it would rather you not bring outside food and drink, and its site lists food truck nights. Children are welcome until early evening; the site gives two different cutoff times, so check before you bring kids. Typical hours are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Best for: dog owners, game-night groups and anyone who wants something to do between pints. For more dog-friendly patios around town, see our dog-friendly patios in Houston guide.

Two Kingwood Drive restaurants round out the list: one for a morning on the patio and one for margaritas outside.

Hacienda Los Arcos Mexican Grill & Bar

Save this: a Kingwood patio day

Save this route for a cool Saturday. Never drive between drinks: use a designated driver or a rideshare.

  1. 9 a.m.: breakfast on the patio at Flying Biscuit Café, 4329 Kingwood Dr.
  2. Noon: lunch on the lake at Raffa's Waterfront Grill or Zammitti's at Kings Harbor, then a lap of the waterfront.
  3. 3 p.m.: a pint in the beer garden at The Cove Craft Beer and Wine, 1101 Hamblen Rd.
  4. 5 p.m.: bring the dog to Megaton Brewery, 808 Russell Palmer Rd., for arcade games and a flight.
  5. 7 p.m.: finish with dinner back at Kings Harbor, on Sharky's patio or Chimichurri's terrace.

Before you go: a patio checklist

  • Check the official site for hours; several picks close one day a week (Chimichurri's on Mondays, Megaton on Mondays and Tuesdays).
  • Ask for a patio table when you book at Kings Harbor; weekend evenings fill first.
  • Only bring a dog where it's confirmed (Megaton), or call ahead.
  • Pack bug spray from spring through fall; Kingwood is called the Livable Forest for a reason.
  • Bring a layer on winter nights by the lake, where the breeze off the water cools things fast.
