- Best Patios in EaDo: Beer Gardens, Dog Parks and a Ferris Wheel
The best patio restaurants and bars in EaDo (East Downtown Houston) are 8th Wonder Brewery's one-acre beer garden, the covered beer garden and enclosed dog park at J-Bar-M Barbecue, and the Ferris wheel yard at Truck Yard. Add Pitch 25, Little Woodrow's, Rodeo Goat, Leeland House and Sunset Rooftop Lounge, and you have eight outdoor spots inside one walkable grid east of downtown.
Here's the detail most people miss: at J-Bar-M Barbecue on Leeland Street, your dog doesn't just get a water bowl. The restaurant has an enclosed dog park where you can eat, and it says you can book it for a dog party.
The one-line version: in EaDo, the patio comes with a Ferris wheel, a soccer pitch or a dog park, and sometimes all three on the same block.
Where does EaDo start and stop?
For this guide, EaDo is the old warehouse grid directly east of Downtown Houston: east of US 59 / I-69, north of I-45 (the Gulf Freeway) and south of Buffalo Bayou. We stop before the Navigation Boulevard and Harrisburg Boulevard corridors, which we count as the East End. Every pick below has a 77003 address inside that grid, from St. Emanuel Street to the 2900 block of McKinney Street.
For the bigger picture, see our EaDo area guide and things to do in EaDo.

How we chose
We picked places where the outdoor space is the reason to go, not an afterthought of two tables on a sidewalk. Each one had to sit inside our EaDo boundary and show a current address and hours on its own official website when we checked in November 2026. We call a place dog-friendly only when its own site, or Houston's official visitor bureau, says dogs are welcome. Where a venue doesn't publish a dog policy, we say so.
Hours change, so read every time below as "typically" and check the venue's site before you go.
The best EaDo patios, one by one
1. 8th Wonder Brewery
2202 Dallas St · brewery taproom · one-acre beer garden · leashed dogs welcome
8th Wonder Brewery's taproom in EaDo has a one-acre beer garden, and its official FAQ says leashed dogs are welcome there as long as you clean up after them. The name is a Houston history lesson: it nods to the Astrodome, which the brewery's own About page notes was dubbed the "8th Wonder of the World", and the brewery started brewing in 2013 in a dome-like warehouse in East Downtown.
Order a beer flight and settle in. The taproom also serves THC seltzers to guests 21 and over. Guests under 21 are welcome if a guardian stays with them, and the brewery says you can bring your own chairs. It typically opens at noon daily, closing at 10 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and at midnight Thursday to Saturday. It takes credit cards only. More local beer is in our best breweries in Houston guide.
2. J-Bar-M Barbecue
2201 Leeland St · barbecue · covered beer garden, stage and dog park · kid- and pet-friendly
J-Bar-M Barbecue gives you more kinds of outdoor space than any other pick on this list. Its own site lists a covered beer garden with a stage that seats 200, a green space that seats 100, and a 4,500-square-foot patio built around a 16-foot stage for weekly live music. Then there's the enclosed dog park, where you and your dog can eat together. The restaurant calls itself "kiddo and pet friendly".
Go for barbecue (it's listed in the Michelin Guide) or the grilled weekend brunch, typically Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's typically closed Monday, and food is served until it sells out. For more smoked meat nearby, see our best BBQ in EaDo guide.
3. Truck Yard Houston
2118 Lamar St · beer garden and food truck park · dogs welcome · 21+ after 9 p.m.
Truck Yard calls itself Houston's outdoor beer garden and food truck patio, and it has a working Ferris wheel. It promises live music every day and a rotating lineup of food trucks, and says everyone is welcome, "from the family dog to the family baby." Visit Houston also notes that pets and children are allowed. After 9 p.m. it's 21 and up.
Time the Ferris wheel right: Truck Yard says it typically runs only on Friday and Saturday evenings, from 6 p.m. to midnight, for a small per-rider fee, and it shuts when the temperature drops below 50 degrees. Check the food truck schedule on its site before you go, then grab a frozen drink and a picnic table. It typically opens at 4 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and at noon Thursday to Sunday, staying open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
4. Pitch 25 Beer Park
2120 Walker St · sports bar and beer garden · indoor soccer pitch
Pitch 25 is a beer garden, a garden lounge, big screens and an indoor soccer pitch in one EaDo spot. It was co-founded by Brian Ching, a Houston Dynamo legend and a member of the club's Ring of Honor. Come for tacos, wings and flatbreads, the Wednesday wing deal or weekend brunch, typically 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It's an easy walk to a Houston Dynamo match at Shell Energy Stadium.
Under-21 guests are welcome with a parent or guardian but must arrive before 9 p.m. Pitch 25 doesn't publish a dog policy, so call ahead at (713) 814-8157.
5. Little Woodrow's EaDo
801 St. Emanuel St · backyard bar · patio bar, yard games and 30-50 TVs
Little Woodrow's EaDo calls itself an outdoor escape in the middle of the city: a backyard with a patio bar, outdoor furniture, yard games and 30 to 50 TVs. It's built for Astros fans, a short walk from Daikin Park (formerly Minute Maid Park), and it opens early for Astros day games.
Here's a rule worth knowing: it's 21 and up after 7 p.m., or until the 7th inning of an Astros home game. Anyone under 21 before then needs a parent or guardian. Happy hour typically runs 3 to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday and noon to 7 p.m. Friday. The bar doesn't publish a dog policy for this location, so ask before you bring one.
6. Rodeo Goat
2105 Dallas St (at St. Emanuel St) · burgers, beer and cocktails · outdoor patio
Rodeo Goat serves house-ground burgers on Dallas Street, and Visit Houston says you can eat indoors or on its outdoor patio. Look for its Battle of the Burgers, a rotating head-to-head between two specialty burgers. Cheese fries are typically half price on Wednesdays for dine-in, and weekday happy hour typically runs 3 to 6 p.m. It typically opens at 11 a.m. daily, closing at 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Rodeo Goat doesn't publish a dog policy.
7. Leeland House (and Around The Corner)
2119 Leeland St · brunch café · front porch and back patio
Leeland House is a breakfast, brunch and lunch café built inside an old farmhouse, with a front porch patio and what it calls a legendary back patio. That back patio connects directly to its neighbor, the Around The Corner bar, so brunch can roll straight into drinks. It's our pick for a patio before the heat of the day. Leeland House typically opens at 8 a.m. daily, closing at 3 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on weekends. It doesn't publish a dog policy.
8. Sunset Rooftop Lounge
2119 Dallas St, 3rd floor · rooftop cocktail lounge · 21+
Sunset Rooftop Lounge is a third-floor rooftop terrace with Downtown Houston skyline views, DJs every day and a weekday happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. It's 21 and up, and it posts a dress code on its site, so check that before you go. It typically opens at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on weekends, staying open until 2 a.m. Go just before sunset, then walk downstairs to Rodeo Goat or 8th Wonder on the same stretch of Dallas Street.
Which EaDo patios are dog-friendly?
Three EaDo patios say on their own sites that dogs are welcome: 8th Wonder Brewery (leashed, in the beer garden), J-Bar-M Barbecue (with an enclosed dog park) and Truck Yard. Pitch 25, Little Woodrow's EaDo, Rodeo Goat and Leeland House don't publish a dog policy, so call first. Sunset Rooftop Lounge is a 21+ cocktail lounge, so leave the dog at home.
