Best Burgers in Richmond, TX: 8 Burger Joints Worth Knowing

Date Published

Burgers Richmond TX illustration: double cheeseburger, fries and milkshake under a night skyline

The best burgers in Richmond, TX range from half-pound Certified Angus Beef patties on a jalapeño bun at The Lone Star Saloon in historic downtown Richmond to a fully halal burger menu at Hungry Bros on the Grand Parkway and homemade buns at JLB Eatery in Pecan Grove. This guide lists eight burger joints in Richmond, each confirmed open on its own official website in October 2026.

Here's the fact that surprises most people: when Austin's P. Terry's Burger Stand finally came to the Houston market, it didn't open inside the Loop. Its first Houston-area stand opened in Richmond, on FM 723, in October 2024, and its first Houston-area drive-thru-only stand followed in Richmond's Aliana neighborhood in July 2025. Richmond got there first.

Where does Richmond start and stop in this guide?

For this guide, Richmond means the City of Richmond (ZIP 77469) plus the unincorporated Fort Bend County communities that carry a Richmond mailing address in ZIPs 77406 and 77407, such as Pecan Grove, Aliana and the Grand Parkway (TX-99) corridor. Every pick has a Richmond street address on its official site. We left out neighboring Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Katy and Fulshear; they have their own guides. More on the area in our Richmond, TX area guide.

The quick list

How we chose

We picked restaurants where the burger is the reason to go, not a line on a long menu, and that have a street address inside the Richmond boundary above. Each one had to show current hours, live online ordering or a working location page on its own official website as of October 2026. Several Richmond restaurants that diners mention often aren't here because we couldn't confirm them on an official site; we'd rather leave a place out than send you to a closed door.

Hours change, so treat every schedule below as "typically" and check the restaurant's site before you drive. Where a restaurant doesn't publish something (a kids menu, a patio), we don't guess.

The picks

The Lone Star Saloon

Historic downtown Richmond, 102 South 3rd Street, Richmond, TX 77469 · bar and grill · open daily

The Lone Star Saloon is the burger stop for anyone exploring old Richmond. Its menu says all patties are half-pound Certified Angus Beef, and you choose a plain or jalapeño bun. Order the Lone Star Hamburger, which the saloon calls its most popular, or go for the Richmond Mushroom Swiss Burger or the Blue Bonnet Burger with bleu cheese. A weekday lunch menu typically runs Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The story: the saloon says its land has been a fixture in the community for more than 120 years. The bar burned to the ground in November 2008 and was rebuilt in the fall of 2009. Inside you'll find shuffleboard, pool, darts and Golden Tee, and the saloon invites you to bring family or friends. It's typically open from 11 a.m. every day, and until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Best for: a burger and a beer after a walk around downtown. Keep going with our best bars in Richmond.

P. Terry's Burger Stand

Spring Green, 9207 FM 723 Rd, Richmond, TX 77406, and Aliana, 10305 W Grand Pkwy S, Richmond, TX 77407 · burger stand · open daily, late

P. Terry's is the Austin burger stand that Kathy and Patrick Terry opened on July 5, 2005, at South Lamar and Barton Springs. Its website says the beef is 100% all-natural, never-frozen Black Angus, and the fries are hand-cut from Idaho potatoes. The menu is short on purpose: Hamburger, Cheeseburger and Double Cheeseburger, plus a Veggie Burger created by an Austin chef, and an Egg Burger at breakfast, served until 11 a.m. Shakes are hand-spun.

Insider tip: the two Richmond stands work differently. Spring Green, at FM 723 and Spring Green Boulevard, has a dining room and a drive-thru. The Aliana stand near The Shops of Bella Terra is drive-thru only, with a walk-up window and no indoor seating. Aliana typically stays open later, until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Best for: a cheap, fast burger with hand-cut fries.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Waterview Town Center, 4836 Waterview Town Center Drive, Suite 200, Richmond, TX 77407 · sit-down burger bar · open daily

Hopdoddy is Richmond's most ambitious burger menu. The chain says it uses ethically sourced, pasture-raised, grass-fed meats, Tillamook cheeses and buns baked fresh daily. Order the Magic Shroom (goat cheese, field mushrooms and basil pesto), the Roosevelt (a bison burger with cherry and fig honey jam) or the half-pound Cadillac Wagyu. It also does smash burgers and shakes, which you can make boozy.

Families: there's a kids menu, and vegetarian and gluten-free options. It opens at 11 a.m. daily and runs a weekday afternoon happy hour; closing times differ between parts of its location page, so check before a late visit.

Best for: a date night or a group that wants a cocktail with its burger.

Hungry Bros Chicken & Burgers

Grand Parkway corridor, 8118 W Grand Pkwy S, Suite 100, Richmond, TX 77406 · counter service · open late

Hungry Bros says its whole menu is certified halal, with no exceptions, which makes it the easy answer for anyone looking for a halal burger in Richmond. The burgers are a 6-ounce all-American Angus beef patty on a butter-toasted brioche bun. Order the Signature Burger, the Double Burger or the Spicy Burger.

Late-night note: Hungry Bros is typically open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Best for: a halal burger, or a late bite after a game.

JLB Eatery (Pecan Grove)

Pecan Grove, 1868 FM 359, Richmond, TX 77406 · neighborhood grill · closed Sundays

JLB Eatery says it bakes fresh bread every day and makes its own hamburger buns, which is rare for a neighborhood burger counter. Order The Crazy Burger: a double beef patty with grilled onions, bacon and thousand island dressing. The Pecan Grove location is one of several JLB Eatery spots around greater Houston.

Timing: JLB typically closes at 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and it's closed Sundays, so it's an early-dinner place.

Best for: Pecan Grove families who want a homemade bun without a drive.

Wayback Burgers

West Airport Boulevard, 18321 West Airport Blvd, Suite 110, Richmond, TX 77407 · counter service · open daily

Wayback Burgers was born in Newark, Delaware, in 1991, and it makes its beef burgers fresh to order. The menu has something for every kind of eater in the car: the Bourbon Bacon, the Cajun and the A.1. Steakhouse burgers, plus a kids menu with a kids' cheeseburger and grilled cheese. Shakes are hand-dipped, with rotating seasonal flavors.

Best for: families. It typically opens at 10:30 a.m. every day and stays open until 10 or 11 p.m.

Five Guys

Grand Parkway corridor, 11115 West Grand Parkway South, Richmond, TX 77406 · counter service

Five Guys has been around since 1986 and is built on one idea: a simple burger you can load with free toppings. Its store page says the beef is fresh ground and there are no freezers in its restaurants. Order the Bacon Cheeseburger, or a Little Hamburger if you want room for fries.

Allergy note: Five Guys says it cooks its fries in 100 percent peanut oil, so plan ahead if anyone in your group has a peanut allergy. Check the store page for current hours.

Best for: building your own burger.

Whataburger

Four Richmond locations: 22710 Bellaire Blvd (77406), 27002 FM 1093 Rd (77406), 4817 Waterview Town Center Dr (77407) and 5400 FM 1640 Rd (77469) · open 24 hours

No Richmond burger list is complete without the Texas original. Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger in Corpus Christi on August 8, 1950, and the chain still serves its burgers on a toasted five-inch bun with never-frozen beef. In 2001 the Texas Legislature recognized it as a Texas treasure.

Why it's here: all four Richmond locations are listed as open 24 hours, so when every other kitchen on this page has closed, this is where you go.

Best for: a 2 a.m. burger.
