Best Buffets in Houston: Indian, Brazilian, Asian and Brunch

Date Published

Best buffet Houston illustration: a long buffet table with churrasco skewer and thali under the skyline

In Houston, all-you-can-eat rarely means steam trays of the same five dishes. It can mean a vegetarian lunch beside a temple in Garden Oaks, a gaucho carving picanha at your table, a Vietnamese and Chinese spread in Alief, or mole and tres leches in a 1925 building designed by the architect of Houston City Hall.

This is our shortlist of the best buffet Houston has to offer right now, sorted by the kind of feast you're after: Indian lunch buffets, Brazilian steakhouses, Asian all-you-can-eat, and Sunday brunch buffets. Every pick was checked as operating on its own official website in October 2026.

The quick list

  • Best-value lunch buffet: India's Restaurant, a daily lunch buffet on Richmond Avenue.
  • Best vegetarian buffet: Govinda's Vegetarian Cuisine, beside the ISKCON of Houston temple.
  • Most unusual all-you-can-eat: Maharaja Bhog, an unlimited thali with a different menu every day of the month.
  • Best Brazilian brunch: Fogo de Chão on Westheimer, with an omelet station and feijoada bar.
  • Best Asian buffet: Kim Sơn in Alief, a Vietnamese and Chinese spread.
  • Best for a late group dinner: Gen Korean BBQ in Midtown.
  • The Sunday classic: Hugo's brunch buffet in Montrose.

How we chose

We looked for places where the buffet or all-you-can-eat format is the main event, not an afterthought, and where the food would still be worth ordering à la carte. Each one had to confirm its buffet, location and hours on its own website as of October 2026. A few well-known Houston buffets didn't make the cut because their official sites have lapsed or no longer mention a buffet, and we'd rather send you somewhere we know is open.

We kept the list to 10 picks we could verify. Hours and prices change often, especially for weekend and holiday buffets, so treat every schedule below as "typically" and check the restaurant's site before you go.

Indian lunch buffets and unlimited thalis

Houston's Indian lunch buffet is a weekday institution: walk in at 11:30, eat well, and be back at your desk by one. These three do it best.

India's Restaurant

Near the Galleria, 5704 Richmond Ave · lunch buffet daily

India's is a Richmond Avenue standby for North Indian cooking, and its lunch buffet runs every day, typically 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The kitchen's calling card is its tandoor, the clay pit oven where meats are marinated and broiled over charcoal. Dinner is à la carte.

What to order: start with anything from the tandoor, and save room for chicken makhani (butter chicken) if it's on the line that day.

Why it's here: a dependable daily buffet in a central spot, seven days a week.

Govinda's Vegetarian Cuisine

Garden Oaks, 1320 W 34th St · lunch and dinner buffet daily

Govinda's sits next to the ISKCON of Houston temple, a few blocks from the 610 North Loop, and has served a plant-based buffet since July 2016. The menu changes daily, with dishes like bhindi masala, baingan bharta and BBQ tofu, plus fresh salads and house-made dressings. Fresh chapatis are brought to your table on weekdays, and the weekend buffet adds a specialty item and special breads.

Insider tip: every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the whole buffet is vegan. And the restaurant says that if it's your birthday, lunch or dinner is on them. Students and seniors also get a discount.

Why it's here: the most relaxed buffet on this list, and one of the easiest places in town to feed vegan and vegetarian friends. Pair it with our vegan restaurant guide.

Maharaja Bhog

Southwest Houston, 8338 Southwest Fwy · unlimited vegetarian thali

Strictly speaking this isn't a buffet. It's better. Maharaja Bhog serves an unlimited vegetarian thali on a bronze platter, brought to your table instead of carried from a steam tray. The brand started its premium thali concept in India in 2012, and its signature idea is "30 days, 30 different menus," so the lineup changes daily across the month.

Why it's here: in our view it's the most theatrical all-you-can-eat meal in Houston, and the rotating menu means regulars never eat the same thali twice in a month. Make a day of it with our guide to Houston's international food districts.

Brazilian steakhouses

Churrascarias are buffets with a twist: the salad and side bar is self-serve, and the meat comes to you on skewers, carved tableside by gauchos until you flip your card to stop. Houston has three standouts. If you prefer a traditional steakhouse, see our best steakhouses in Houston.

Fogo de Chão

Westheimer near the Galleria, 8250 Westheimer Rd · lunch, dinner and weekend brunch

Fogo's Houston dining room has a white Carrara marble Market Table and serves lunch on weekdays, dinner nightly, and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The brunch is the move: continuous churrasco (picanha, fraldinha, lamb chops, bone-in ribeye and more) plus a brunch Market Table with a made-to-order omelet station, Belgian waffles, braised beef rib hash and a feijoada bar.

Insider tip: Fogo's brunch menu says young children eat the full churrasco experience free and ages 7 to 12 pay half price, which makes it a surprisingly good family brunch. Not a big meat eater? You can order the Market Table and feijoada bar on its own. Valet and self-parking are both free.

Texas de Brazil

CityCentre, 822 Town and Country Blvd · dinner nightly, lunch on Fridays

Texas de Brazil's Houston outpost is at CityCentre in west Houston. Dinner runs nightly, and lunch is typically served on Fridays only, with the dinner menu. There's a lower-priced "salad area only" option if half your table doesn't want the meat parade.

Insider tip: free self-parking is on levels 3 and 4 of the shopping center garage. Kids 2 and under eat free with a full-price meal, and ages 6 to 12 are half price, per the restaurant.

Chama Gaúcha

Galleria area, 5865 Westheimer Rd · lunch weekdays, dinner daily (also in Katy)

Chama Gaúcha serves USDA Prime meats carved tableside and a gourmet salad bar the restaurant says has more than 30 options. It's the quieter, more polished of the three, which makes it our pick for a business lunch. There's also a Katy location on Bella Katy Drive.

Why it's here: the weekday lunch is one of the better-value ways to do a churrascaria. Find more nearby in our Galleria and Uptown restaurant guide.

Chinese, Vietnamese and all-you-can-eat Asian

Kim Sơn

Alief, 10603 Bellaire Blvd · buffet lunch and dinner, closed Tuesdays

Kim Sơn, in Saigon-Houston Plaza on Bellaire Boulevard, runs a buffet of traditional Vietnamese and Chinese dishes, and it is open for buffet at both lunch and dinner. It's the easiest way to try a dozen things in one sitting if you're new to the cuisine.

What to do: go at lunch, then walk off the buffet in the strip centers along Bellaire. Our Chinatown and Asiatown guide and Vietnamese restaurant guide have the rest of the street.

Note: it's typically closed on Tuesdays and breaks between lunch and dinner on weekdays.

Gen Korean BBQ House

Midtown, 3201 Louisiana St · all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue (also on Westheimer and in Webster)

Gen is all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue: you grill meats at a burner built into your table, with banchan on the side, and order unlimited rounds within a two-hour limit. Founded in Los Angeles in 2011, it now has three Houston-area locations, including 12230 Westheimer in west Houston and Egret Bay Boulevard in Webster near Clear Lake.

Insider tip: Gen charges a fee for leftovers, so order in small rounds. The Midtown location typically stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes it a good post-game or post-concert option.

Sunday brunch buffets

Hugo's

Montrose, 1600 Westheimer Rd · Sunday brunch buffet

Hugo's Sunday brunch buffet is a Houston ritual. Chef Hugo Ortega, a James Beard Award winner, has run Hugo's since 2002, and the buffet showcases regional Mexican cooking alongside handmade specialties, desserts and cocktails. Reservations are recommended.

The "I didn't know that": Hugo's occupies a restored 1925 building designed by Joseph Finger, the architect behind Houston's Art Deco City Hall. Look up from your plate. Read more in our Hugo's guide.

Caracol

Galleria area, 2200 Post Oak Blvd · Sunday brunch buffet

Caracol is Hugo Ortega's coastal Mexican seafood restaurant, named for the Spanish word for snail or conch, and it runs a Sunday brunch buffet, typically 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If Hugo's is the meat-and-mole Sunday, Caracol is the seafood one: the menu travels Mexico's coastal states through ceviches, fresh seafood and wood-fired dishes.

Insider tip: park in the building's garage. It's free with validation at the host stand.

Holiday buffets

Thanksgiving and Christmas are peak buffet days. Hotel restaurants run some of the biggest spreads: Toro Toro at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston, for example, typically hosts holiday brunch buffets on both days, announced on its events page each fall. Book early. For Mother's Day, see our Mother's Day brunch guide, and for regular weekend brunch, our best brunch in Houston.
