The Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market is a four-day holiday shopping event held each November at Reliant Center in Houston. More than 280 merchants fill the exhibition floors with fashion, jewelry, home décor, gourmet food, ornaments, and Texas-made gifts, and every admission ticket plus 11 percent of every sale goes directly to the Houston Ballet and its education programs. The 2026 edition is the 46th annual market.

This year's dates

November 12–15, 2026 · Reliant Center, 1 Reliant Parkway, Houston

  • Thursday, November 12: 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, November 13: 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 14: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 15: 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Early Bird ticket holders enter at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday. The Wells Fargo Preview Party is the evening before — Wednesday, November 11, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. — and requires a separate ticket. Check NutcrackerMarket.com for the most current hours and any schedule changes before you go.

What ticket should you buy?

Four options cover most shoppers:

General admission ($25 + fees): Single-day entry from 10:00 a.m. The flexible choice if you plan to come once and don't need early access.

Early Bird ($60 + fees): Valid all four days, plus 8:30 a.m. entry on Thursday and Friday — 90 minutes before the general crowd arrives. At 280+ vendors, the extra time to get first pick of jewelry, apparel, and food items pays off. This is the best value for serious shoppers.

Sunday only ($20 + fees): Limited availability. Good if your schedule only permits Sunday; some vendors mark down remaining stock by the final day, though selection is thinner.

Wells Fargo Preview Party: Wednesday evening, November 11, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Includes early shopping access before the general public arrives, a dinner buffet, drinks, and complimentary parking. Check NutcrackerMarket.com for current pricing — it sells out before the market opens.

Children under 2 are free.

Tickets are sold through NutcrackerMarket.com via Ticketmaster. General admission does sell out on the busiest days — buy in advance rather than counting on walk-up availability.

How to navigate 280+ merchants

The market spans Reliant Center's exhibition floors in 24 categories: Accessories, Apparel, Beauty, Candles, Children, Christmas/Holiday, Garden, Gifts, Gourmet Food, Home Décor, Jewelry, Leather Goods, Men, Monogram, Novelty, Ornaments, Pets, Sports, Tableware, and Toys, plus a dedicated section for debut vendors. A searchable merchant browser is available at NutcrackerMarket.com before you arrive.

A few strategies that work in this format:

  • Do one full walk-through first. Before you buy anything on your first morning, make a single pass through the entire floor. Note the booth numbers of anything you want. The layout is large — like a Rodeo Houston carnival floor but indoors — and it's easy to lose a booth if you don't write the number down.
  • Buy gourmet food early. Spiced nuts, Texas sauces, specialty preserves, and other food items sell out. Pick them up before your second shopping pass, not after.
  • Jewelry and apparel move fastest. Popular jewelry vendors often have lines by midmorning. Arrive at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday or Friday with an Early Bird ticket if jewelry is your priority.
  • Use the package check service. A paid check service lets you drop off purchased bags and keep both hands free to keep shopping. Curbside pickup is also available.
  • The 29 debut vendors are clustered. Look for the "New Merchants" section to find the 2026 first-timers; the full list is searchable by category at NutcrackerMarket.com before you arrive.

When are the best days and times to go?

Thursday morning offers the best inventory — every vendor at full stock — but it's also the most crowded time of the week. Friday afternoon balances inventory and shorter lines. Saturday draws the largest overall crowds. Sunday is quieter, and some vendors discount remaining items, though the selection by then is reduced.

Across all days, peak hours are in the morning. Afternoons and evenings are easier for navigating the aisles without jostling.

Two paid special events are scheduled during the market:

  • Snow Queen's Fashion Show & Luncheon: Thursday, November 12 at 10:15 a.m.
  • Sugar Plum's Fashion Show & Luncheon: Friday, November 13 at 10:15 a.m.

Both require separate tickets available through NutcrackerMarket.com.

Getting there and parking

Reliant Center sits south of downtown Houston at 1 Reliant Parkway, about 3 miles from the Texas Medical Center. It was known as NRG Center until the naming rights changed.

Driving: On-site parking is typically $25 plus tax per vehicle, card only — no cash. Rates are subject to change; verify before you go. There is no in-and-out access once you exit, so plan your entire visit before paying. ADA parking is available first-come, first-served with a valid state-issued placard or plate, paid parking pass still required.

Rideshare: Drop-off and pickup are on the west side of Reliant Center at the Hall E entrance. This is the fastest option from inside the Loop and eliminates the parking fee.

METRORail: The METRO Red Line stops at the Reliant Park station. From downtown it takes about 15 minutes and costs far less than parking. For METRO routes, fares, and the full system map, see the METRO Houston guide.

Shuttles and pedicabs run through the parking lots during the event if you park far from the main entrance.

What can you bring — and what's not allowed?

Not allowed: strollers, carts, rolling bags, wagons, and pets. If you have young children, plan for arm-carries or arrange childcare.

Bag size limit: Bags larger than 11 by 17 inches are not allowed. A crossbody bag or small tote is the practical choice.

What to bring:

  • Comfortable flat shoes — the floor is concrete and you'll cover a lot of ground
  • A list of who you're shopping for, with rough budgets per person
  • A card for most vendors, plus a small amount of cash for any cash-only booths
  • A phone with the NutcrackerMarket.com merchant browser open for quick category searches

ADA mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, canes) and service animals are permitted.

How the market funds the Houston Ballet

Here is the number most shoppers don't know: the Houston Ballet collects an 11 percent commission on every vendor sale, in addition to keeping all admission revenue. That means every $100 you spend on a gift puts $11 directly into the ballet's educational programs and student scholarships.

Recent markets have drawn up to $23 million in four-day retail spending. The first market, in 1981, raised $28,000 — enough to keep the organization running for another season. Combined with the spring edition of the market, the two events have raised more than $100 million for the Houston Ballet since 1981. The 2026 market is the 46th edition.

You're not making a donation when you shop here. But you are funding a dance company.

For a full calendar of what's happening through December, the Houston Christmas events guide is the place to start. The Houston Ballet also performs The Nutcracker at Wortham Theater Center in the Houston Theater District from late November through the holidays — many shoppers pair a market visit with a performance in the same week.
