This is a very good example of why I should read the reviews before I book a hotel. I’ve been a Hyatt Globalist (top tier of rewards program) for a few years and I’ve stayed at many Hyatt Place hotels. Some much better than others. This was absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Hyatt property. I’m glad I only booked it for one night to be convenient near the IAH airport. Last time I stayed near this airport, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which was an older hotel, but it’s no longer in business. [I believe it’s been fully renovated and is now in Sonesta Hotel. I plan to stay there next time.] The negative experience appeared as soon as I pulled into the property driveway. Large metal gates with curled barbwire on top. This was the first indication that this property should be a prison. As I pulled into park and register, the parking spot I selected had an amazing amount of broken automobile glass on the ground. That was strike 2 before I even enter the hotel. I registered and we went into the hotel. The room, although clean and efficient had obviously severe signs of age and lots of wear and tear. My first thought was this should no longer be a Hyatt property. Clearly, the maintenance here was not important. I know running a hotel must be an extreme challenge, but this challenge has been lost. On a couple of minor points, there was a missing coat hook on the back of the bathroom door and the door look like it had been through some severe damage. Also, roughly half of the TV channels were unavailable. Either scrambled or no signal at all. I would never stay at the Hyatt Place North again and would not recommend it to anyone. (Some detailed photos included in my review.)

Average Category 1 Hyatt Hotel. I was acknowledged at check in for my status and given two bottles of water. I was not offered late check out. My room (room 401) was decent. There were food crumbs in the floor from the last guest and long dark hair on two of the three bath towels. Nowhere to charge my phone near the bed. The sink was slow to drain. The bathroom was small (common issue for older Hyatt Places). There was a refrigerator. Another member of my family booked a room and had a microwave and a place to charge their phone next to their bed. The breakfast was decent but definitely not the best breakfast I've had from a Hyatt Place. One curiosity is the hotel is covered in typed notes on white paper. I've never seen so many notices in any hotel ever. It's neither a good thing or bad thing. One of these noticed did say there was shuttle service to the airport. The hotel is near a major roadway and you can hear traffic noises in the room. It was OK for me but a light sleeper may not like that. I would stay here again if I found myself in the area.

The rooms layout was decent. The bed was comfortable. That's the only good. Reference pics for the nasty. Curtains were stained from who knows what. The bathroom smelled like a dirty crotch because there's no ventilation. TV only had lile 4 channels that actually worked so I hope you like shark tank. The fridge was like missing a leg so it wobbled all over the place. Was there from sunday night till Tuesday morning. Didn't get any service to the room at all. No new towels, no bed made, nothing. I mean for a quick stay its fine but I wouldn't go here again. Check in and out was easy.

1 Star – Kept Our Money & Left a Family With Kids Sleeping in the Lobby Terrible experience at Hyatt Place Houston-North. We booked through Expedia as part of a prepaid flight + hotel package. The room was fully paid and non-refundable. Our flight was delayed, and we arrived at 4:00 AM with my wife and children. The front desk employee told us our room was canceled because we did not arrive before midnight. This is unacceptable. The room was already paid for — they should not cancel or resell a prepaid, non-refundable booking. The employee was rude, unhelpful, and showed no empathy to a tired family with kids. They refused to refund the first night so we could book another hotel. So they kept our money and left us without a room. We had to sit and try to sleep in the lobby for hours. After speaking with Expedia, the hotel said maybe a room would be available at 9:00 AM. Then suddenly at 5:30 AM, the same employee said the system showed a vacant room. The room was clean and ready the whole time. We stayed about 3 hours in the lobby for no reason. No apology. No accountability. The area is also not very quiet. Overall, very disappointing experience. Thankfully, Expedia gave us a one-night credit, but the hotel refused any refund or apology. I would not recommend this location, especially for families.

Upon arrival we were meet with a line and a older Indian(sorry) decent as the desk clerk. Ok, we wait, another employee came, once we got to the counter we were told rooms aren't available, still cleaning. Wait, what it's after 3pm. I asked how long and bc it's after 3 can we get a discount bc again it's after 3 and check in starts at 3 right. The young lady asked the older lady. She drops her head and said, I'm going upstairs to check. She left about maybe 20 minutes past she didn't come back. So the young lady waiting on us went to check. She wasn't gone long, came back rooms are ready ok. On the floor the old ,stale, mildew smell. Room nice size, clean ok thanks. Take a shower water pressure is super hard, cheap plastic shower holder rings, to short shower curtain. Clean tub Taking shower water gets all over the floor bc water pressure and short shower curtain. Turn off the shower water drop from faucet. Gotten turn super hard & keep turning to get the water to stop.Used towels, now I need more towels during my stay bc always have to use a big towel to keep the floor dry. Let the lady clerk know at the front desk about the faucet, she said she would put in a ticket. Nevertheless it never was fixed. Every time I asked for towels none clean, they washing and don't know how long it's going to be. And earlier in the morning we were meet with alarms going off. In the breakfast area other guests shared stories of their bad experience. Super close to airport, eateries and shopping stores.
