I had a pleasant stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites from May 7 to May 11, 2026. However, I experienced an issue with the room phone not functioning. The hotel's breakfast offerings were excellent, with a wide variety of choices. I would consider staying there again.

Our room had water damage and had a weird smell. The cleaning people stood outside our door popping packaging bubbles and were obnoxiously loud. We had no towels in our room— it was frustrating.

I hate to have to do this but too many things happened during our stay to not leave a review. We checked in here last minute on Saturday, December 20 staying through Saturday, December 27, as our previous family accommodations fell through. I wasn’t expecting a 5-star hotel given the price and hotel chain, but I’ve stayed in Marriott-affiliated hotels for years as I’m a former travel consultant. We just wanted somewhere to rest comfortably for the Christmas week. That said, this experience failed in multiple ways to live up to the Marriott standard. Upon arrival, the lobby was filled with fans because the A/C there was broken so it was hot and murky. No issue as we weren’t staying in the lobby, just not all that pleasing to have loud fans blasting. I swipe my card and they tell me it’s going to be blocked due to fraud protection and it happens all the time apparently. Why this known issue hasn’t been resolved on their end is beyond me. I tell my bank it’s me, re-swipe, and we get our keys to our room. I try to connect to the Wi-Fi and it’s not connecting at all. I ask the front desk for an access code, only to be told the Wi-Fi doesn’t work, not even the paid option. We’re told we have to use the hotel public Wi-Fi, which is very slow and decides when it wants to connect, and also only lasts for 6 hours before requiring a reconnection (where you must go through the browser prompts to accept the Wi-Fi, then exit that prompt, and THEN try again for it to connect). To just take a breather and rest and relax, we take showers to wind down. Showers are fine, but the bathroom is so poorly ventilated that steam doesn’t escape and therefore soaks everything in the bathroom, and not just regular steam on the mirror from a standard shower. EVERYTHING is soaked, from the sink to the toilet to the door. New towels are required as they all are basically used now because of this, my meds have now been dampened and melted despite being in a weekly container, the toilet paper is damp, and there is water everywhere. Tried turning on the TV, and that doesn’t work. Tried using the phone to mention any of these issues to the front desk, and the phone doesn’t work either. On top of this, our door would not shut unless we pulled it close really hard, which is a HUGE safety concern had we not noticed it the first day. Again, not expecting a 5-star experience, but these are very basic needs of a hotel stay that aren’t being met. Don’t get me wrong, some of these are things that I can live without, but if they’re offered, they should be available. The juice machine for continental breakfast was broken and we couldn’t even get hot water for the tea that was offered. Everything was bleh for a few days (we stayed as we knew it would be nearly impossible to get new accommodations during the holiday), then fast forward to Christmas morning, and I wake up to a ROACH ON MY HEADBOARD. I go to the front desk for a new room. They didn’t hassle me about it at all, gave me a new room with no issue, and within minutes after a manager from a neighboring hotel came to help the hostess (she was new so she didn’t know how to fully work the system yet). We make the switch, and we try to take a shower to check the ventilation here, only for the water to not come on at all. Turns out, there is work being done on the water systems, and it was began without warning. Was told to check back on it in an hour. That was first reported at 10 am. The water wasn’t available again until 4:30 pm. We tried the showers that night and guess what? Same poor ventilation. My girlfriend tried to check out a day early, only to be told they couldn’t check her out because we wouldn’t be charged for the last day of the stay. I’m not even sure if that’s legal honestly. Attempted to get refunded for my stay via Bonvoy and Expedia and was only offered a partial 3-day refund. I had to go to my bank to get an additional case started since apparently, the quality of living in this hotel is negotiable. Needless to say, we definitely won’t ever be coming back here.

First of all, keep in mind that Fairfield has become Marriott's "budget conscious" brand. This branch of Marriott seems to have declined as a whole over the past few years (this is the second Fairfield I have stayed in this year, and I had a similar experience at the last one). The BAD: 1. I arrived at around 2:15pm and was hoping for an early check-in. No rooms were available at that time, which I absolutely understand. I was told by Miguel that the wait would be around 30 minutes. I know that early check-in is never a guarantee. So I waited in the lobby, but my room was not available to me until around 3:15pm (when check-in was supposed to be at 3pm). I also had to keep going up to the front desk to ask for updates, no one came and updated me while I waited in the lobby. 2. The room is....old. Clearly some rennovations have been made over the past few years, but the entire building seems to be falling apart. The carpet was coming apart near the window, there was sticky residue all over the desk, the bathroom had some stains that I would rather not know where they came from. However, the sheets & towels were clean, and the bed was fine. 3. I've never been a fan of the in-room coffee makers (they're rarely cleaned), so I usually rely on the lobby coffee. MOST Marriott brand hotels I stay at keep hot coffee in the lobby, day & night. Not this one. I came downstairs for coffee at 5am, and it was ice cold, clearly not replaced since yesterday. The lady at the front desk stared at me as I poured the cold coffee, not offering to replace it. The ONLY time the coffee was actually hot was at 6am when breakfast started. 4. This hotel is cutting corners to try to save money. You'll notice that the "little things" are missing. A pen & notepad on the desk in your room. A box of tissues. A bar of soap. Off-brand body wash rather than the regular Marriott Alice & Co stuff. I understand that this hotel is a "budget" option, but even Fairfield has standards to maintain. 5. I left my bag with the Front Desk agent when I checked out in the morning, planning on returning to get it after a few meetings. The person at the front desk (Miguel) didn't seem to understand what I was asking. I've never had an issue with leaving a bag at the front desk at ANY other hotel I've stayed at in the past, it's a very common request. And when I returned for my bag, I had to wait for around 15 minutes to find someone at the Front Desk to help me retrieve my bag. What was so frustrating is that the lady at the front desk DID see me standing there waiting for someone to help me (she was sitting in the lobby on her laptop, rather than sitting behind the desk), but she didn't even bother trying to see what I needed until I rang the bell on the counter (after waiting 15 minutes)! I had no idea she even worked there, since she was just leisurely sitting in the lobby. The GOOD: - Breakfast was on-time, and the variety of options were nice. There was plenty of seating for breakfast. -Parking is free, and the lot feels relatively safe. Easy access to 45. -The water is quick to heat up and stays hot. All in all, you get what you pay for. But I don't think I'd stay here again -- If I wanted THIS much of a "budget" option, I would have chosen Four Points by Sheraton next door.

Worst Marriott property I've ever stayed at. Room was humid and and floor sticky. The TV remote was also sticky that I had to use the ice bag to cover before touching it. Constantly have to keep the ac on so the room doesn't get too humid. The bed feels icky because of the humidity.
