I recently gave birth here and the staff at Memorial Hermann Sugarland were phenomenal. My husband and I even said that when we have our next child we are coming here again. First off my obgyn Dr. Brandi is such a class act. She is such an excellent and skilled physician. The anesthesiologist Dr. Jones was also very good. Next, I would like to highlight the nurses Kayla in labor and delivery and Krystal in postpartum care. Those two ladies are amazing nurses. Their professionalism, kindness and empathy are remarkable. I would also like to thank the Nurse assistant Avery and the lactation coaches Golda and Venessa. As a first time mom, I was able to learn so much. My experience at memorial Hermann for my labor, delivery & postpartum care were indeed excellent. My baby and I are back home healthy and happy. Thank you Memorial Hermann Sugarland.

My experience in Labor and Delivery was extremely difficult, and unfortunately, the issues continued after I was transferred to the postpartum/triage unit. The unit felt disorganized, and I received inconsistent and often contradictory information from multiple nurses, which made an already overwhelming time even more stressful. My overnight nurse was particularly concerning. She repeatedly dismissed what I was communicating, was unreceptive to any feedback, and told me that what I was doing with my baby was incorrect—yet she provided no guidance, education, or support on how to do things differently. At one point, she demonstrated feeding herself and was only able to achieve minimal success, which raised serious concerns about her ability to instruct or correct me. She also contradicted the lactation consultant, then told me I could ask the lactation consultant for help, despite my question being specifically about my baby’s feeding plan—not breastfeeding technique. When I asked who the supervisor was, I was told it was the charge nurse, which is inaccurate. I chose not to escalate the issue at that time because I understood that the individual named, Adriana, was not the appropriate supervisor. However, shortly before the night shift ended, Adriana entered my room in an aggressive and intimidating manner. Her tone and demeanor felt retaliatory and inappropriate, particularly given my vulnerable postpartum state. I did not initially know who this individual was; I only learned her identity later through the oncoming shift nurse. The fact that she sought me out, rather than allowing the matter to be addressed through proper channels, was deeply unsettling. This experience caused unnecessary stress during what should have been a supportive and healing time. I am submitting this complaint not only to address my own experience, but in hopes that no other patient has to go through similar treatment during such a critical moment in their care. I would appreciate confirmation that this complaint has been received and information regarding any follow-up or review that will take place

I was a patient here recently for acute appendicitis and had as good of an experience as I could have given the circumstances. I was transferred from a stand alone ER to the surgical floor where they had a room ready for me. I felt that the night staff especially was responsive and communicative and my nurses throughout the process- from the floor to pre and post op- were compassionate, professional, and had excellent bedside manner. I have a four month old baby and I really appreciated that at discharge my discharge nurse reached out to the lactation nurse who came to my room to review my medications with me and eased my anxiety regarding what I had taken, my procedure, and continuing to breastfeed at home. The following day after discharge I even received a follow up call asking if my pain was manageable, if I had any questions that weren’t answered, and if I needed anything else. I felt that everyone involved went above and beyond my expectations and I would like to thank all of them for making the best of a painful and stressful situation

I would recommend everyone to this hospital from the time I walked into the doors to the time I left out of the doors every single staff that I had experience was so very nice, helpful, caring, explainable, professional and the list goes on. They all made me feel so comfortable and confident my time there as I was fixing to have my surgery. I had a great hospital experience. Keep up the excellent work to the whole staff. Thank you!

We recently visited the emergency room here because my father all of a sudden was in immense pain and unable to walk. My father is the type to not complain if it is something manageable at home. (Aka he does not like the doctor) when he began to yell of pain and almost cry I knew something was wrong. The ambulance took him and the staff there. When we got there the registration person was very cold and unhelpful. They did not have staff to speak Spanish and would not allow me or my family with him to help translate. They took X-ray of his pelvis and an ultrasound to check for clots. When I asked the woman at the front desk what would happen if those came back fine. She said “well we will send him home”. Instantly freaking me out because obviously the 2 doses of morphine and the pain killers you are giving him are not working… there is a PROBLEM and at the very least you should find the root of the problem to help alleviate the pain while he has to wait for a specialist to see him another day. They did not have rooms available so my dad was in a wheelchair in the waiting room. They took cray of only his pelvis not even his spine which I would imagine would have more answers. I had to constantly ask them for an update. There were at least 30-40 people in a small waiting room the size of someone’s living room. Bathrooms were dirty with no paper towels. 1. Staff friendliness and desire to help 0% 2. Treatment 5% 3. Organization 0% 4. Efficiency 0%
