Wonderful store. We ( a gay couple) go here about 3x a week for waters for our 10 tanks. It’s a very busy store, that’s because they take their time making sure your ready for fish, your tank is ready for fish and if it’s a community tank, they make sure what your getting is a good fit. When I think of a Local fish store, with wonderful owners who truly care about the fish… this is the spot! Come visit for quality and variety. They can order most fish and plants at your request. You want more one on one time, go during the week. Be patient, they are busy , especially the weekends. I find it well worth the wait to get questions answered and healthy fish. Love this place and the owners!

I am writing to offer some constructive feedback. I have visited the store twice over the past three months. During my first visit, I felt the environment was somewhat unwelcoming, but I didn’t think much of it. I understand that small businesses can face staffing challenges, and I didn’t want to rush to judgment. Unfortunately, my second visit was significantly worse. I experienced consistently rude and condescending behavior from individuals I assume were owners as well as some staff members. I had intended to purchase several fish, but ultimately decided to limit my purchase to what had already been bagged and leave as quickly as possible. The fish selection and overall quality are good. That said, this is Houston, and there are many other options where customers are treated respectfully. For example, 360 carries comparable or even larger inventory without creating an uncomfortable experience, and online ordering is also an option. I genuinely wanted to give this store a fair chance, but I was very disappointed by the lack of care shown toward new customers or customers who may not fit their preferred profile. Ironically, after reading the lower rated reviews, it appears there is a clear pattern. Rather than responding defensively or passively aggressively when feedback is offered, it may be more productive to listen and ask what could have been improved during the experience.

Easily one of the, if not the, best locally own aquarium stores in all of Houston. Top grade fish, plants, and supplies. All around a great place to be. I’ve gotten everything I’ve ever needed from this shop for a lush and vibrant tank full of healthy fish.

Great selection of fish and amazing seller. Was literally asked to bring in water sample to make sure my tank was ready for more fish, awesome owners!!

This is absolutely one of my favorite spots to visit on the weekends. I am relatively new to the aquarium world but have visited stores all over town, both independent mom and pop stores and big box stores. Prosper and Shannon have never been anything but kind and helpful. 99% of the time I'm going to buy stuff for my freshwater tank from them so that we don't lose such a valuable resource of livestock and knowledge. I can't speak for their week day traffic but weekends are generally INSANE. I have had to wait a good 10-15 mins before even being able to catch their attention at times because it's so busy. They always apologize and I always tell them they shouldn't apologize for being busy - that's a GOOD thing for a small business. Unfortunately by reading through some of the lower rated reviews, apparently some people expect to be greeted immediately. In a big box store, I think that's reasonable. When there are only 2 employees available in a busy shop and there are anywhere from 25-50 customers, you need to pack your patience pants but trust the attention will always be top notch when it's your turn. Please don't let a few less than stellar experiences scare you off from an amazing store owned by two amazing humans!
