It is a split river, with an east and west fork. Fishing is good for all 3 species of catfish, okay for gar, and common pan fish. Be careful of alligator snappers they will take your bait, and they are big!

Use to water ski the San Jacinto River. The Karankawa Indian Tribe use to live in the area.
