Loved it. Botanical Garden was beautiful and peaceful. Aquarium was cool to go through. A little pricey but still had a good time. There are quite a few options , Garden, Aquarium, movie etc... there is a concession area and gift shop. It was very easy to get to. Employees were super friendly. Hopefully I'll get the chance to go back.

You know, I was impressed with the size of this place. Acres and acres. What I saw was beautiful, at least in the genre that I was there for. The plants, the birds, all the animals and fish. Fabulous. On the other hand, I thought the ticket price was almost exorbitant. The staff seemed confused about what it did or did not include. But to me, I got to see the aquarium and the tropical house, that was it. It was really pleasant, honest, but I don't think it was worth the admission price.

We got a great deal on a day pass for two, so the visit felt worth it at that price. I’m not sure I would have paid full admission, though. The rainforest area was interesting with its open layout, but it was mostly birds. I would’ve loved more chances to see the monkeys and other animals—there didn’t seem to be many, and the ones that were there were pretty hard to spot. The aquarium section was nice but on the smaller side. Ice Land, on the other hand, was incredible. The ice sculptures were stunning, and the place was freezing, so I was very glad they provided coats. The Christmas lights were pretty underwhelming. Overall, the experience felt average compared to other aquariums, zoos, and zoo light displays I’ve visited.

1/3/2026: We visited the Shivers Ice Sculpture exhibit. Staff were all friendly, grounds were clean, parking was fairly easy to find, and the area is marked pretty well to show you where to go. I was impressed with the ice sculptures. The amount of work was pretty amazing. It was just freaking cold! 9 degrees, no lie! They give you a parka to wear, but you need to bring your own gloves, scarf, and cap. That is the only thing that saved me. I think we spent MAYBE 25 minutes in there. So, doing the math, a $30 ticket basically breaks down to $1.25 per minute. That's kind of expensive, in my book, but I see how much work these sculptures took, so it's easy to see why they charge the amount they do. It is a little dark inside and the cooling system is a little noisy.

Had a blast at Moody Gardens. My son and I took a pre‑holiday trip to Galveston because Moody Gardens was hosting their holiday displays. We went through the Ice Sculptures exhibit and did a little ice skating, which was a lot of fun. I also want to highlight how great the staff was. A security guard went out of his way to help us use our entry ticket a second time on the same day. He even signed our paper ticket to make sure we wouldn’t have any issues, even though he wasn’t completely sure of the policy. Really kind employee. I bought the “everything pass,” which made the most sense, and we were able to enjoy all the attractions. Overall, we had a really good time. The only downside was the EV charging cost—they charge about double the normal rate. If you drive an electric vehicle, make sure to charge before you go.
