What. An. Experience!! If you are an escape room enthusiast, move this up your priority wishlist. If you're someone in Houston looking for a unique experience, consider making a reservation. A totally immersive experience that blends the thrill of an escape room with the performance of theater. From the moment we stepped in, the game, in essence, had begun. Having done several escape rooms, we were not prepared for what was in store. The entrance/lobby itself was thematic. No "staff" waiting at a desk but a note that sets your imagination running. We were really impressed by how the formalities were handled (like rules and waivers) - didn't even realize it because of the immersion! The professional live actors did a phenomenal job creating an atmosphere of suspense, curiosity, and emotion. They delivered their lines convincingly with effortless inserts of improv. You are encouraged to participate appropriately. While the actual "escape room game time" is 60 mins, expect to spend 1.5-2 hrs in total. It's worth arriving early just to get immersed in their space (and use the restroom). While the puzzles - taken in isolation - were not overly difficult, it was still challenging because of non-linear gameplay, understanding of what needs to be solved, and the variety of puzzles. If everyone is experienced, a group of 4 is ideal. The game doesn't tell you "this is where you start"; it begins unexpectedly and you start figuring things out (exciting!). Just start doing what makes sense to you and eventually, you will get into the flow. The game is spooky and atmospheric (not "scary" but a few "ohh!" moments). Hints become "available" and are communicated... but only when you need them (an interesting approach!). The cast stayed in character throughout. If you cannot find a time slot or everything is booked, you can call them and request for a special time - subject to cast availability. Note that they are on the third floor and the gated entry to the complex may require a code (which they will provide). This was not just an escape room. It's a concept executed beautifully.

I booked this for my birthday week. ALL my friends loved it. We did the VIP experience which includes a cocktail and tarot card reading. Highly recommend that for an elevated experience. We will be coming back in 2026 when the new room is ready!

This place is all it is cracked up to be. We went with eight friends to do the séance with Houdini. From the time we walked in the door until we left it was truly unique and first class. The amount of time they take to build out these incredible environments is unreal and the actors are top-notch. Our experience was the best we’ve ever had with anything like this. Yes, it was an escape room, but it really is not quite depicted like that. I think it’s an understatement and doesn’t do it justice to say that it’s just an escape room. Without revealing in more detail, I will just highly advise You to take the leap and see what this place is all about. We were very impressed.

Having completed numerous escape rooms—including all of those at The Escape Game and several small family-run franchises—I would wholeheartedly say this one exceeded expectations. As others have mentioned, the immersiveness is by far the best I’ve experienced in any escape room. While many rooms rely heavily on set design to build immersion, this one takes it further by using real actors, who did a phenomenal job and truly elevated the experience. If you don’t particularly care for theatrics and instead prefer the challenge of well-thought-out puzzles, this escape room still delivers. It does a fantastic job of combining strong puzzles with a high level of excitement and tension. Purely from a puzzle-design standpoint, I would say that The Escape Game’s Prison Break and Cosmic Crisis slightly edge it out. However, that comparison is really apples to oranges—the immersion in The Man From Beyond is on an entirely different level.

TRANSCENDENTAL! If i had only one word to describe the worldbuilding, the storyline, the immersion and the overall experience, then transcendental would be my foremost choice. Even setting aside the immersive theatre aspect of it, the meticulous detail to the artwork, music, puzzles and contraptions, makes it a cut above most other escape rooms that i have had the pleasure of doing. The actors Haley E.R Cooper as Madam Daphne and Andrew Roblyer as Houdini were marvelous. It was a great pleasure to learn that our very own Madam Daphne was one of the creators of this very room! While Adrian Rook was unable to be present, a set of instructions guided us to where we needed to be. The immersion happened by self and began right as we entered through the doors. There was no one to greet us, make us sign waivers or to escort us to where we needed to be. One may argue that the escape room and the immersion started long before we entered Madam Daphne's chambers. The ambience was dark and the atmosphere was rife for a seance. As we entered the fortune tellers cabin and stowed away our belongings, we realized that the waivers were being handed over to us in books that contained our very names. What a wonderful concept and attention to detail! But far more intriguing is what we did with those waivers soon after. I wont spoil it here, but it was quite cathartic! Soon after we were escorted by Madam Daphne to the dark corridors where instructions were given and anticipation built up, before entering the main seance room. Houdini himself would have been proud of the paraphernalia put up for display. As we settled into our chairs, our journey into the past truly began. Not being a fan of horror, i was a bit skeptical of The Man from Beyond, but it was an absolute pleasure to partake in the seance and beyond. A lot of work went into each prop and puzzle. There were many different types of prop and puzzle elements that one needed to interact with and it was always intriguing to see how much thought had gone into the entire room. While there was a very large clock in the room, the room's decor and the music made one truly lose sense of time. Houdini's appearance, disappearance and heartful exposition left us stunned, especially when he had asked us about a loved one. We were so immersed that none of us felt like breaking the news to him. The reappearance of Madam Daphne and the turn in the storyline after Houdini's final act of disappearance brought the experience back full circle. As we left Madam Daphne's cabin we could not help but wish that we interacted more with Madam Daphne and Houdini when we had the chance. Beyond the hallowed portals of her cabin, there was something in there for everyone. Believers. Non-Believers. And Transcendentals!
