East Bay Galveston Beach

For the best shell area, park as far east as you can and keep waking east past the base of the sea wall around the bend. Walk along the high tide line where the sea weed and driftwood get pushed up by high tide. There are thousands of hermit crabs but there's also plenty of good empty shells

The 2024 Galveston Sandcastle Festival was place on September 21-22 at East Beach. The celebration included not only the popular sandcastle competition, but also live music, food trucks, and a vendor market. There are also some enjoyable activities for kids, such as face painting, sandcastle building lessons, and games. What a fantastic way for the whole family to spend a relaxed weekend at the beach.

This is a really great family beach! I think it's my favorite out of all the ones in Galveston we've been to so far! Much less crowded than the others further up the shoreline, ample parking, a concession stand with food instead of just snacks, playground, bathrooms, beach chair and umbrella rentals, a lined walkway, and more. Yes, you pay for parking, but it's an all day pass, so if you leave then come back, just show them your parking pass. Beautiful area of the island!

Very cool place to see the gulf. Lots and lots of space along the beach. Easy parking and plenty of room to explore. Enjoyed the weather there before heading home back up north. Highly recommended place if you love to explore and relax.
