Outpatient center staff incredible! Can't speak highly enough of them Was ready to be transported to med-surg bed at / before 4pm but room wasn't ready for transfer until almost 9pm Sat in outpatient center for almost 5 hours waiting for bed to open Level of care in med-surg did not come close to level of care given in outpatient center Day following surgery was substantially worse, with almost no involvement from staff (beyond waking me in the middle of the night for vitals) including long delays in administering ordered pain meds Very happy to be discharged...

I was most disappointed. I was scheduled for a CTA procedure at 10am on the 25th of February. After registration which went smoothly, I proceeded to the basement and was led into an area just outside the CTA lab. I was unpleasantly surprised. Actually shocked. I felt as though I was in a third world facility. It was antiquated at best. The room which was more like a corridor was poorly lit and there were nine people, all in beds, in the cramped area waiting, just outside the CTA lab (waiting I suppose, for their turn). I had to stand and wait in the space while they wheeled someone out of one of the slots to provide me a space to prep me for my procedure. The tech came in and told me to open my shirt and role up my sleeve and asked me about my medications. I informed him that I was on blood thinners and had taken one that morning. He then proceeded to start my IV. After he inserted the needle he started to flush with saline. A bubble, about the size of a nickel, immediately rose on my arm slightly above the entry point of the needle and blood and saline went back into the tube. He said he didn't understand why that would happen and proceeded to insert a second saline vial and pushed the solution once more. The bubble got slightly bigger and the blood saline solution went back into the tube again so he stopped, said he didn't understand why because it was a "good IV" and left the room. He had clearly "blown" the vein. When he returned he pulled out the needle, apologized and said he would have to stick me again and switched to my left arm. The second attempt was successful. I was then led down the hall in front of the other eight people with my shirt open and led into the CTA lab. Once on the table I was positioned for the scan and the dye had to be injected twice to get the results the tech was happy with. Very poor experience

My wife and I went to St. Luke's Urgent Care to get checked out after our SUV caught fire. Fortunately, we did not suffer any burns, but had inhaled a lot of black smoke before we could get the car to a slow enough speed, brakes and electrical were out, bailed out on the freeway. The doctor and nurse on duty took us in right away and examined us, ordering X-rays and checking vitals. They were very thorough and professional.

The breast imaging center was amazing. As soon as I checked in, I was able to me the nurse immediately for a mammogram. The robes were nicely folded in what seem to be a warming cabinet so that when you undressed and wore the robe you weren’t freezing cold. At MD Anderson they never had this. What a nice touch. The waiting area and lobby was immaculate and clean and just so modernized. I was in and out with a quickness and while I was driving home from my appt, I had already received a call with my mammogram results.

My first day and evening were a great experience. Then I had to deal with P/T! Was to check out at 9am and then the aggravation began. After meeting with P/T, I was very weak. I did all exercising but did not do well walking. So the P/T said she would return after saying I didn't pass. After 31/2 hrs of little to no conversation. I was with and O/T who asked if I wanted to walk. I agreed. The P/T finally showed back up. She had to chit chat with other people stopped at the nurses station to chit chat. After arriving back at my room another few minutes asked if I wanted to walk AGAIN! I said whatever lets just get this finished so I can get out of this hospital. I was by this time soooo aggravated. Unfortunately I can't recommend P/T but nurses were very pleasant. I am just thankful I won't have to return. Both hips have been done and big thank to Dr Melvyn Harrington.
