Good place had a good time we went for crawfish but unfortunately it got sold out due to someone having a party which sucked for us. But their other food was pretty good its a nice spot for games or a simple hang out

I found Velvet Oak Tavern on a Sunday morning while searching Google for a good brunch spot. Upon entering, I was greeted by the bartender who also seated me and took my drink and food order. The restaurant has a nice setup, and I'm sure it's the perfect place to watch sporting events. My order was not exactly what they had on the menu. I added a twist to mine, and I can't exactly remember what myself and the bartender did. However, when it came out, it was phenomenal! I was very impressed! You know it's good when you are dancing in your seat to no music! I loved the outside patio with the view of the street. It's perfect for people watching. I did notice they offered a military discount as I was leaving, which was a letdown, because I didn't know that prior to paying. I also didn't like the automatic gratuity added without knowing. If I'm ever in the area again. I'd stop in again and definitely take advantage of that discount.

Came her for brunch with a group of friends and had a great time. Velvet Oak Tavern has an eclectic esthetic and is covered in squirrels. All the food we ordered was pretty good, but we all agreed that their waffles while giant and fluffy lacked some flavor. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was moist and well seasoned, but the waffle needed some extra pizzazz or hot honey instead of just regular syrup. The staff was really nice but you could tell the place had opened recently because they were not knowledgeable about the menu. We would ask about items and then be told they weren't on the menu, but we read them off the menu to our server. Food came out at a decent pace. Overall, I'd try it again for their regular menu and drinks.

This place is in an excellent location but is having a tough time finding a regular crowd. It is really worth more people giving it a try. The lack of a crowd is primarily because the bar has changed it's theme a couple of times in the past two years. I don't think a lot of people who got turned off by the previous somewhat funky theme, realize that the bar has changed back to one of the more standard watering hole themes. Presently the bar is configured to attract a sports loving crowd with several screens indoors and outdoors to watch the most relevant games to Houstonians that are underway It also offers different food and drink specials each night. It also appears that karaoke and trivia games are available on certain nights. The drink specials are offered at excellent prices. And the food specials are reasonably priced and well made. For my last visit, I tried out the Monday night steak special and was very pleasantly surprised. The steak was well prepared to my temperature order, was well seasoned, tender and was a large portion of ribeye. It was accompanied by a baked potato and a nice size dinner salad. Bottles of wine were discounted by 25% and a bucket of 6 beers cost just $20. My 2 dining companions and I enjoyed a mellow Malbec and a bucket of Bud with our meal without breaking the bank.

I came for the first time and immediately felt welcomed. The bartender Asia was very welcoming and the food was amazing. She is so sweet, patient, and charismatic. I will definitely come back
