We wanted to try something new, and we saw this place had just opened up. We started with the calamari, and I was not a fan. It was a bit too greasy and chewy for my liking. However, the beef skewer was amazing. The taste of the skewer almost seemed like it had been smoked. The broth of the Ramen was very flavourful. The service was exceptional.

Ume Izakaya is... decent. I ate here with my family for the first time and upon first impression, the restaurant looked good. I was expecting higher end, but traditional and tasty Japanese food. I wish I could say it delivered, but unfortunately the food was not very tasty or authentic. The chicken katsu was very thin and I mostly tasted breading. The beef tenderloin skewer and pork tonkotsu were too salty and lacked depth of flavor. I mostly tasted salt. And the miso soup also lacked flavor. The service was decent and the atmosphere inviting. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par with my expectations. I feel Ume Izakaya has much room for improvement. I'm sorry to say that until then I will likely not revisit for a while.

Jun 19 /Jun 22 update - no more business hours on door and no more posters on glass walls. It's permanently closed. Google refused to update status. ----------------------- Rather large variety of japanese food. Grilled chicken heart was special as well as many choices of delicious skewers. Great services from servers and chefs and great atmosphere.

I am confused with other reviews because It was the worst dining experience here. Perhaps we picked the worst food on the menu. Noodles were stuck together, soup tasted nothing, kids menu is $11.75 for some fries and apple juice. Dumplings are undercooked and soggy. Servers seemed sweet, they tried their best to make us feel better, I guess… we were genuinely upset but they had nerves for asking “cash tips”.

Decided to try something new tonight and happy we did. Ume Izakaya was fantastic! We started with the fried dumplings and fried monkey balls (salmon batteries in panko breadcrumbs w/cream cheese, rice and jalapeños. Both were tasty. I had the Shoyu Ramen and my wife had the chicken fried rice and pork belly skewers💥💥💥 We will be back with the kiddos!
