The customer service was outstanding!! Everyone was professional, friendly, helpful, and engaging! The customers were friendly, patient, and understanding. My party and I were new and had a difficulty making up our s minds. No one rushed us and in fact even the customers chimed in with their favorite dishes making helpful suggestions. Posting was plentiful, the restaurant while under renovations was accessible, clean, and comfortable. The food was mamas down home cuisine. My only complaint was too much sugar in the cobbler and no cots in the back for naps. My guess can’t wait to return to Houston. So meats were well cooked and season and nothing was dry. Over family member was vegan and managed to find something to eat.

The oxtail was sooo good. They hit the spot. It was fall of the bone tender and the portions were amazing. I enjoyed the cornbread as well even though I'm not a big cornbread person. The beans were good too. The collard greens were good but they were too salty for me. The service was great and everyone was so nice there. I would definitely go back.

Staff were friendly but the food was unacceptable. Muffin burned why put them out sweet potatoes was mashed and meat bland. I called back the young lady said I could come back whenever. I go back why they would not honor what the coworker said even with a receipt and her name written on it. I proceeded to leave and the customer in front of me offered to pay for my food. Once again bland I reached out to them but no response. The south side location is horrible.

This place definitely picked the perfect name for themselves!! I’ve been looking for a good soul food place in Houston and finally found them! I got the short rib plate that automatically comes with rice. They put gravy over the rice plus it comes with two sides! My side choice was Mac and cheese and candied yams!!! The yams were so soft plus sweet and the Mac and cheese was silky with a hint of cheddar in every bite! The cornbread was very soft well! But those short ribs omg we’re so good! Who ever made them knows exactly what they’re doing! I tried some of the desserts as well. I got a serving of peach cobbler and a lemon cake. The lemon cake was definitely moist and fluffy I was really surprised but the cobbler was a little too sweet for me but still delicious. Only problem I had was the sweet tea was overly sweet so maybe next time I’ll have to just get half and half tea. This is the best soul food I’ve had in years and I will be returning!!

The food was very unacceptable. I had the smothered, pork chops, with, yams, cabbage rice and gravy. The cabbage and rice and gravy was okay. The sweet potatoes, wasn't sweet at all. Tastes like just cinnamon was put in it. They almost taste like either canned potatoes or those potato patties. Definitely, didn't I give fresh cut sweet potatoes. The pork chops, were dry and they looked old. Like the ends of the meat It was dark, like a black looking. The only thing I finished was the cabbage rice and gravy.
