The Waffle Bus Montrose

I hadn’t been to The Waffle Bus in years, so I was definitely excited to come back and see how it still holds up. One thing I really liked right away was the setup. They have two patio seating areas with umbrellas, which is perfect for Houston heat, and a walk up window to place your order. Makes it easy to grab food and go or just hang outside. I ordered the Hot Mess Fries, which come with seasoned waffle fries topped with spicy buttermilk fried chicken bites, white cheddar mac & cheese, spicy mayo, ancho chile honey butter, and pickles. It’s definitely a loaded dish with a lot going on. The flavors were bold, and I liked the combination in theory, but it was just ok. The chicken was decent and had a nice crunch, and the fries were seasoned well, but everything together made the dish feel ehh. The mac & cheese was creamy though but nothing particularly stood out to me. Service was fine nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. The staff got the order out in a reasonable time, especially considering it can get busy in a hurry. As for the ambiance, it’s a casual spot with a laid back vibe. Good for a quick bite, but not somewhere I’d necessarily go to hang out for a long time. Overall, it was an alright visit. Not bad, but not as impressive as I remembered. Still a decent spot if you’re in the mood.

Really good value for what you get. If you want good bang for your buck, this place delivers. You can easily split one sandwich into 2 meals. The fries were perfectly crispy, and the chicken portion was huge. My only small critique is I wish the waffle was a little crispier so it wouldn’t absorb the sauce so quickly. Other than that, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back and recommending this place to others. 😁😁😁

This place is a Chicken & Waffle Lovers Dream.... 🧇 The vibe is so cool and the food was tasty. The Hot Honey wings were crispy and full. The waffles were fresh and fluffy. Will return to try the Hot Mess Fries next time: Seasoned Waffle Fries, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Bites, Mac Cheese, Pickles, Spicy Mayo, Ancho Chile Honey Butter

The first time visit to Waffle Bus was cool. The decoration was beautiful and the fries was good. The desserts was delicious as well. Had the chance to go with my 14-year-old who loves waffles and we had a great brunch time. The food was so good!!! I love that the waffles were not too sweet, just right and the same as the whipped cream or whatever was that cream that they put on top it was so delicious we would definitely be back with the rest of the family now.
