Food has no flavor, I asked for two different type of tamales and both were flavorless and very expensive

This place is a awesome tamale stop.As i went in the place is welcoming and a small personal diner for family and friends. The service was great. Though i speak little spanish the servering lady still manage to help assist me to the tamale of my choice. The tamales are priced at about 4 to 5 dollars a piece. They are pretty nice sizes. I purchase the chicken tamales with green sauce and the taste and flavor was awsome. I also tried the cheese tamale not a big fan but Chicken beats them all. Then i tried a Torta this was also great the bread slightly toastd but good time These hommade tamales are by far some of the most full filling i would recommend try.

The service wasn't too bad; a bit slow, but there are only 2-3 people working in the whole place. I've only had the tamales, and have tried most of them. They were, disappointingly underwhelming; not much filling, not much flavor.

Bought 1 dz tamales to go. Found what looked like a long hair wrapped in one of the tamales. Returned what was left of the dz,never heard an apology All the manager kept repeating was they don't make the tamales.

I like to visit certain places a few times before reviewing them to make sure service and food is consistent. I also pre-judge the food by how busy a restaurant is. As the name indicates, the best menu item is the tamales. The selection and sizing is great. The only downside is the damn near $3 tamales are mostly cornbread w/very little filling. Ive tasted the chicken, mole, and beef. The flavor and seasoning hasn't been consistent throughout my 3 visits. Now they have an updated menu but it seems the food got more bland with each visit. In summary: 1. This place is always empty. You never have to worry about a line here. I frequent the UPS next door which always has a line, lol. But, at Tamales you may see one or two filled tables at most. 2. As stated in another review, the food is definitely overpriced for the taste and quality. Great Mexican food isn't hard to find in Texas...you just won't find it at this Tamales. 3. Bland. Bland. Bland. I think this place has a no-sodium policy because the only thing that has any flavor is the rice.
