During the 90s and 00s I was a club promoter in the 6th and 3rd ward and have seen the decline of mom and pop shops over the years through gentrification. So when my friends told me about a still surviving mom and pop restaurant in the 2nd ward I was super excited! However, when we arrived we quickly discovered that the restaurant had been bought out. There is a sign on the counter that says, all cash purchases get a discount. Nice! However, if you pay cash they don't have the right change and he will simply say, I owe you. Not good. The old fashioned burger was good! But it was cookie cutter good. I've had the same burger in Stafford, Sugar Land, etc. Even my friends noted that it was good, but different, the magic was gone. The chicken tenders were large, however, there was no sauce for them. When we asked about gravy he simply said, it's too much trouble. Not good. What makes mom and pop restaurants so special is that they care! They want to give every customer an amazing experience because they love what they do! That's the magic! The connection. They may not have the largest profit margins, but they have the most loyalty. This restaurant feels like an investment opportunity. Right on the cusp of 2nd ward and the ever expanding hipster EaDo that's taking over everything. But I have no doubt that if it renamed 2nd Wards Original Sukos Burger since 1989, all the hipsters from the fancy coffee place 4 blocks away will flock to it.

I love sukos as a mom and pop. The burgers are so good. I jus tried the shrimp fried rice for the first time and deff wouldn’t get again to pay $13 for bland rice and 6 baby shrimps. The seafood platter with shrimp is also okay, wouldn’t probably get again for the price and size of the shrimps. The fish was also jus okay. Kinda disappointed. Didn’t seem like the usual owners behind the counter so maybe that’s why it wasn’t as good.

I ordered the “Old Fashion” burger combo with cheese, man when I tell you it’s Good! Oh my goodness off first bite I knew I’d be coming back asap! If I’m looking for a burger, or other items on their menu I’m definitely coming back here! It’s a can’t miss spot, the cooks, Owner were so polite, helpful, and got my order done fast! Thanks for a great meal!

Saw this place and decided to give it a go. I suppose I was hoping it was going to bring me some good old fashioned burger taste and it did! Very competitive prices. Burger combo was approximately $10 bucks and honestly it's all about the local. Cook was a very sweet lady and they were getting ready to close but took and made all 3 of my orders. Definitely a great place to grab a quick bite.

Been meaning to try Sukos for awhile now. Finally made it tot his side of town, and I will have to say that there’s other spots better in this area. The burger really has no flavor and I couldn’t eat the onion rings. Never had onion rings that were “tough” but that’s the best way to describe what I had. Couldn’t bite through the onion even after it fell out of the breading. Hate to get down on a Mom & Pop spot, but I don’t see returning here.
