Sapporo Japanese Cuisine in Cypress is a solid spot for quality sushi in a casual setting. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, making it a great place to unwind and enjoy a good meal. The sushi was fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Service was professional and attentive throughout the visit. Overall, a great choice if you’re looking for dependable Japanese food in Cypress.

We read reviews before coming in, and we really figured all hibachis are about the same. We were wrong. First, Don't be deceived, you can order hibachi, but it's not Teppanyaki. I ordered the whiskey blues and it was a blue whiskey. There was no other flavor profile in there and it was very strong. I was there with four people and we deliberately got different things to try as much of the menu as possible. There was 100% a roach leg in someone's soup, and the manager came out and tried to tell us it was from the root of the onion. It was absolutely not. The chicken was dry, the steak wasn't cooked to the requested temperature, the scallops were overdone, the spring rolls were burned, the rainbow roll was definitely fishy, the salad is exactly what you would expect, the miso and onion soups were very bland, and the potstickers tasted exactly like what you get in the frozen food section. The service was pretty good. There was definitely a language barrier and we had to send a couple of things back, but she did the very best she could! We will not be going back. It was an extremely mid experience, for the price of a really good hibachi. The decor is great, but they were playing house music so that was very confusing. It wasn't necessarily unpleasant, just strange.

This is a decent place to get sushi and Japanese food.. The staff is friendly and prompt with service. It used to have a hibachi area that we liked a lot but has been discontinued. I think we would come here more often if they brought back the hibachi service.

Our experience at this restaurant was underwhelming. It was our first visit, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. The server did not speak English, making communication difficult, and they forgot to bring the soup that was supposed to accompany the calamari. Even after reminding them, the soup arrived late, after the rolls had already been served. The server seemed rushed and eager to take the next order, which felt a bit pushy. The food was the biggest disappointment. The calamari was slightly overcooked, leaving a bitter aftertaste. The soup was bland and lacked flavor. We did enjoy the Hawaii roll—the concept was creative, but the execution was messy. The Hot Mama roll was decent, with a nice touch of spice. However, the SM roll was inedible; we could only take one bite. It had an unpleasant smell, like raw egg or improperly fried rice, which made it hard to stomach. When we asked the server for a recommendation for a traditional roll, she suggested the SM roll, which turned out to be a huge letdown. If you’re planning to visit, perhaps try other items on the menu. Unfortunately, the dishes we chose didn’t leave a good impression.

Always great food and service. We typically order sashimi, sushi and rolls but also my son's favorite place for shrimp fried rice. And my wife's 's favorite ginger dressing.
