I ordered the Chicken with 2 sides for myself and catfish with 2 sides for a friend. The meat of the chicken itself wasn’t seasoned. I could tell the seasoning was put on the chicken after it came out of the grease and it was burnt. The chicken had an old grease odor as well. The sides were pretty decent. Way better than I expected. I tasted a little bit of the catfish. It wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t bad.

The food has no flavor. No flavor to anything. I bought the oxtail plate with 2 sides plus a pork chop plate and a fish plate extra side and a three koolaid for about $90 Probably the worst plate of food I ever tasted. The rice tasted like soggy water & don’t get me started on the gravy. Threw the whole plate in the trash & wasted $90 Moral of the review is don’t waste your money at this place, would not recommend it.

I wanted oxtails so this was the closes place to me at the time and I’ve had there chicken wings, so I decided to give them a try. I ordered oclxtails with greens and mac and cheese but I got an order of chicken and fries too for, just in case. So the oxtails come with three and they are wrapped in foil. They were very tender but was lacking seasoning. I could tell they have a wine base, because I also use wine when I cook them, but was missing that, umph. The Mac and cheese and greens were ok, although I had to add a little lawrys seasoning. So needless to say, I’m glad I got the wings because I only at one of the oxtails.

I've read the reviews prior to arriving to Mike and Mike's Southern Food and have found none of the negative reviews regarding the food to be my experience. I ordered three different entrees and enjoyed each plate thoroughly. The food was not over nor under seasoned and is pictured in the initial fashioned it was cooked and plated. Any condiments added to the food is done so by the customer after they receive their food. Constructive criticism = lemons to lemonade. I thank the previous reviewers for it as my food came out all the better. Matter of fact, I'll be there again today as my third visit when it opens at 4pm. The owners are friendly and don't mind talking to you about their food (how prepared, prepped, etc.). Well, at least they didn't mind speaking to myself and my guest as we initiated friendliness with them. The atmosphere was also relaxing and calm during my first two visits as well. No complaints here!!!

Today I found this place on a FB group called Houston Area Black Owned Restaurant and I had to try it they open at 6 they service was good and the food was okay I will definitely add this to my food truck list
